Words cannot describe how beautiful Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu is. It is one of the most beautiful destinations in New Zealand and one of the most popular. Near the city center of Queenstown there are many shops, restaurants and bars. Near the city center you can also pick a tour company for your famous shotover jet tour.

Beautiful lake surrounded by mountains. Next go queenstown with lots of food options. One of the best views is on deer park heights.

Right next to Queenstown this lake doesn't need an introduction. Its beautifully shaped and the views are magnificent. Also a lot of activity going on around the lake since its one of the main attractions for visitors from abroad. Hopefully I'm able to revisit this place again in the near future.

Remarkables makes it a breathtaking sight. Unlike the striking blue of Lake Tekapo or the vibrant green of Lake Pukaki, Lake Wakatipu has a deep, mysterious charm with its ever-changing hues, depending on the light and weather. The stillness of the lake, combined with the towering peaks of The Remarkables in the background, creates a serene and majestic atmosphere. Whether you’re taking a cruise, enjoying the lakeside views from Queenstown, or watching the legendary tide-like rise and fall of the water known as the “lake’s heartbeat,” Wakatipu has a unique allure that sets it apart from the other famous South Island lakes.

This place needs no introduction. What you may need to know is where to park for FREE! I wish someone told me this before I visited! There is plenty of paid parking available including street paid parking and parking lots. However, the best 4 Hour FREE parking I found was in Queenstown skate park, just adjacent to Queenstown Gardens. Its not a big lot, but usually easy to get parking if you have some patience and good luck! From here, it's just a 10 minute walk through the beautiful garden to get to the lake.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Lake Wakatipu in stunning New Zealand, and I cannot say enough positive things about this magnificent destination. From the moment I set foot on its shores, I was captivated by its breathtaking beauty and alluring charm. First and foremost, the lake itself is nothing short of awe-inspiring. Surrounded by majestic mountains and lush greenery, the crystal-clear turquoise water stretches as far as the eye can see, creating a serene and picturesque setting that left me in complete awe. The vistas are truly breathtaking and provided the perfect backdrop for countless memorable moments. Aside from the stunning scenery, Lake Wakatipu offers an array of recreational activities that cater to all interests and skill levels. Whether you are seeking adventure or simply wish to unwind in nature's embrace, there is something for everyone. From hiking and biking along scenic trails to boating, fishing, and even jet skiing on the pristine waters, the options are endless. The lake's natural beauty truly invites exploration and instills a sense of adventure. Moreover, the surrounding towns and villages, such as Queenstown and Glenorchy, effortlessly enhance the overall experience of visiting Lake Wakatipu. Packed with charming shops, delicious eateries, and vibrant nightlife, these towns showcase the immense warmth and hospitality of the local community. I was welcomed with open arms and felt a genuine sense of belonging throughout my stay. It is also worth mentioning that Lake Wakatipu has a rich cultural heritage that adds depth to its already extraordinary allure. The area is steeped in Maori history and legends, which can be explored through various cultural tours and attractions. These experiences allow visitors to gain a deeper understanding of the land's indigenous roots, further enhancing the overall experience of any visit. Lastly, but certainly not least, I must commend the people of Lake Wakatipu for their unparalleled hospitality and warmth. The locals are incredibly friendly and helpful, always willing to go the extra mile to ensure an unforgettable experience. Their genuine smiles and welcoming nature truly embody the spirit of New Zealand, leaving a lasting impression that will forever hold a special place in my heart. In conclusion, Lake Wakatipu is an absolute gem that should be on every traveler's bucket list. Its unparalleled natural beauty, numerous recreational activities, vibrant towns, intriguing cultural aspects, and welcoming community create an experience that is nothing short of extraordinary. I am grateful for the opportunity to have visited this enchanting destination and cannot wait to return.

Yelp
Beautiful lake. Beautiful blue, clear water. While we did not do a boat tour around the lake, we did walk around and really enjoyed the serenity of this lake. Beautiful mountains sit flush to the mountain and you really feel like you're living in a postcard.

Yelp
Lake Wakatipu (try saying that 5 times fast) is a beautiful lake where Queenstown and other settlements sit. It's a glacial lake and the water is in pristine condition. New Zealand is the only place that I have ever seen water so clear you can see straight to the bottom. I highly recommend a visit to see it for yourself!

Yelp
Was lucky enough to see the lake from the air as we return from Milford sound. Stunning as the views are from the road, the view from the air is spectacular. You realize that the blue changes shade in different parts of the lake. Incredible views.

Yelp
Fantastic scenery and view of Lake Wakatipu from Queenstown over looking the ice-capped mountain and the alpines. Absolutely stunning.

Absolutely gorgeous - the water here is a completely different shade of blue than I have ever seen! Absolutely worth a stop.
