"Your room awaits at the snazziest hotel in Yellowstone, but don’t get too excited: Competition is weak among Park Service lodgings, so even at the Lake Yellowstone Hotel you’ll have to make do with shabby fixtures and hallways that smell of industrial cleaning products. For the best lake view, book a room above the 100 level on the front side."

"A grand, pale-yellow building constructed in 1891 with a Colonial Revival design, overlooking the second-largest alpine lake in North America. The hotel offers views of the crystal-blue lake with thrashing waves and a small island. It is a historical venue with a rich past, including trout fishing and dining experiences." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Our stay at the Yellowstone Lake Hotel was delightful. We arrived after a long day touring Yellowstone National Park and were greeted by friendly and helpful staff at registration. The woman that signed us is was friendly and presented me with a map of the complex, taking the time to explain it in detail so that we would be comfortable finding everything we were looking for. I felt this was very nice because she had just finished doing the same thing with the person who had been at the desk when we arrived. Our room was in the Sandpiper Lodge and was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The dining room was closed so we ate at the Lake Lodge. Our food was very good and we were able to sit with a wonderful view of the lake. The following morning a staff member offered some valuable tips to enhance our stops at the remaining locations we'd planned to visit. We highly recommend they Yellowstone Lake Hotel and cabin area for anyone staying at Yellowstone National Park

Cute cabins - not large, but a nice size room, clean bathroom and great shower! And very private, even though you have other cabins nearby. You can walk to the main hotel, and see the lake views. The hotel dining room was closed for renovations, so we ate at Lake Yellowstone Lodge (not to be confused with "Hotel") a very short drive away - Wylie's Cafe. A cafeteria/slow fast food style. You place order, then pick up. Limited menu, but decent food. We only stayed one night, and it was $$, but you are right in the park.

This reservation was made in early May for a mid September visit. We paid almost $600 a night for a four night visit. The website indicated an historic hotel with a fine dining, a bar and internet. When we arrived after a long day of travel, we were informed that the dining, bar and hotel were closed. We were told that we would have a cabin instead. These cabins rent for around a third of what we paid. I was unable to check on other options because there was no internet service. When I pointed out how absurd it was to pay such a high price for a sad little cabin out back, I was offered another property for the last night of my stay. I was also told that I would be given a 50% discount. I was charged another $600 for the night in the other property. When I asked for a printout of the final bill I was told it would be emailed. It never was emailed. I was after some effort able to get a credit for the extra $600 charge, but never received any other credit. The dishonesty is even more upsetting than the charges.

We stayed in one of the cottages, which was quite small and very minimal but it was mostly clean. The shower is the size of a cruise ship shower or RV—quite small. You just need to know what you are getting into with renting a cottage—you stay here for the location, not the amenities. Yes, it is grossly overpriced and housekeeping only comes every three days (they didn’t tell us that at check-in) but you are in the middle of nature and it beats sleeping in a tent! This was our fifth trip to the park but first time to lodge in the park. It was nice to not have the drive in each day and to be able to say we stayed there, but we probably won’t do it again. ||There is no Wi-Fi at this hotel or cottages. You have to go to the Lake Lodge for that. We had no cell service (T-Mobile) in most of the park except spotty around Old Faithful. ||No food available at Lake Yellowstone Hotel during our trip as the restaurant was being renovated. The food quality across the park in general is quite poor for any of the quick-eat places. We were last here four years ago and it seems that the food quality has really deteriorated since then. Little variety, small quantities and of course over priced. The ice cream, however, is quite good and well worth the money—if you can find an ice cream shop that has cones. The ones we went to on this trip were out.||(Shout out to the Shaka Guide app. First time we ever used this and it was absolutely amazing! Better than having a personal tour guide in your car as you navigate the park.)||Bottom line for staying at a cottage—you can’t beat the location, so focus on that.

Amazing Yellowstone experience! We actually thought we wanted the hotel, but it was being renovated and was closed when we visited Yellowstone. So they put us in these cabins outback, and I was very skeptical after reading the reviews. They were not spotless…there was mildew in the shower and cobwebs in the corners, but we got over it! They are small, and ours had two double beds. We would have preferred one queen or one king, but we made do. It was cold at night, but we had plenty of blankets, and the heater worked great. There was no room to open up our luggage, and only a small space for hanging up clothes and jackets and that was kind of a pain, but again, it was worth it. The first day we woke up to the sound of an elk bugling right out outside our bathroom window. If there had been no screen, I could have touched him. We also have pictures of a beautiful coyote hunting in the field next to the cabins. The only bad part about this room is the shower. It is way too small, and although the water pressure is amazing, you cannot get out of the water to wash your body or your hair. we also ran out of hot water the first day, and boy is the cold water cold! We learn to take quick showers from then on, and we were fine. They had a nice mini fridge. There is no maid service during the week, and I guess we could have gone to the front desk to get fresh linens and towels, but it was a long way Also, I would suggest bringing a close pin because the blinds did not meet in the middle and the sun coming in woke us in the morning the first day before we fixed it with a towel. The parking is perfect. Right next to the cabin and very convenient for loading and unloading. It is very quiet and peaceful, with no vacuuming or children running up and down a hotel hall. There is, of course, no cell service, but that is standard throughout the park. The amazing thing about these cabins is the location. You are right in the middle of Yellowstone and do not have to fight the lines of people coming in every morning. It is close to all the attractions and easy to find. You don’t have a view of the lake from the cabin, but you can sit on the porch of the hotel and take in the gorgeous view. The price for these cabins is ridiculous, but compared to the rest of the in-park lodging options, they are on par. We had to eat at the Lake Lodge cafeteria, because our dining hall was closed due to the renovations. We were not thrilled with the food, but the lobby, bar, and fireplace areas were so cozy, warm, and inviting. I truly recommend these cabins if you go to Yellowstone!

We stayed in the Sandpiper Lodge at the Lake Yellowstone Hotel. The room is on the smaller side, but the decor was classy and very comfortable. The room was very clean. The bed was comfortable as well. The bathroom floor was sloped at a weird angle and the toilet appeared to be sinking into the floor so I suspect the floor in the bathroom will need to be replaced soon. The room is very nice, but significantly over-priced for what you get. There is no air conditioner, no TV, no internet, no breakfast, no microwave, barely enough electrical outlets to charge your electric devices, and because the main hotel shares the same parking lot you have to often park very far away from your room. The hotel is nice, but it under-delivers. The only advantage is that the next nearest lodging (that is not inside the park) is almost an hour away. It was obvious that the staff take great pride in the hotel and were very friendly and helpful.

I feel it's very costly for a cabin!!!. $400 plus for one night. I wish I got a room in the hotel instead for this much.!! The location is perfect though. Walk to the lake and drive to a lot of beautiful scenic views nearby. But that's about it. Cabins don't have microwave, fridge or cooking options. So if you are traveling with family make sure you have arrangements to eat. Lake Lodge nearby has a restaurant. I'll say location is the best thing about these Cabins.

We booked this almost a year in advance. No WiFi, Tv or AC but that didn’t matter because we were minutes away from the mud volcanos. The location was great. We sat on the front porch or the hotel in rocking chairs relaxing and were at the sites in the morning while there was plenty of parking still available.
