Here’s a cleaner, more polished version that keeps your voice and experience intact, suitable for a review or social post:
This was our very first campervan stop, and overall it set a really solid standard for the rest of our trip.
Check-in was seamless, and we booked a powered site that was nicely paved, clean, and well laid out. The common areas were straightforward, tidy, and well maintained, which we really appreciated. Showers were clean and included (no extra charges), and WiFi was available too, which was a bonus.
In terms of overall class and facilities, I’d rank this park number 2 on our campervan journey. Driftaway in Frankton, Queenstown still holds the top spot for us, but Tekapo Holiday Park comes very close.
Location-wise, this place is excellent. It faces the lake and has very easy access, which made the stay even more enjoyable. Overall, it was a solid 4.5-star experience for me and my partner.
That said, here’s an important lesson learned the hard way. When we tried to return, the park was fully booked, so we parked closer to the beach where there was a “No Camping” sign. Early the next morning, council officers knocked on our door and we were issued a NZD400 fine.
Word of advice to fellow campervan travelers: always use Campmate to find proper freedom camping spots or book paid sites. It’s absolutely not worth risking a fine. Lesson learned.
