Lalibela Wildlife Reserve

Overall: 10/10, if you have one safari, let this be the one! Most expensive but you get what you pay for. Acknowledgements (apologies if I misspelled your names): tree top lounge - Malbutu and Porscha were extremely welcoming with smiling faces, providing top class service! - Dez our game ranger is extremely knowledgeable about all wildlife, plants, etc and experienced. We had a superb time with him throughout our trip, wish we could stay longer. - Our stargazing hosts (woody/ruben) were super knowledgeable and we learned a lot about our stars during our stay. Activities: afternoon game drive, stargazing night and morning game drive. - we saw a tonne of animals in such a short time I’d say I was spoiled. Elephants, giraffe, lion, rhino, buffalo, hippo, all variations of antelope, secretary bird, small raptors, cheetah but sadly no leopard (I’m coming back!) - perfect weather, bumpy but worth it ride and close enough to the animals with a 200mm lens to get great photos. Duration/food: We stayed for 1 night, which includes lunch, tea, dinner and breakfast. - meals included game meat but compliments to the chef, everything was tasty, local and excellent! Accommodation: - you’d be surprised but for such a remote location, the accommodation was impeccably clean, so kudos to the treetop team for extremely high standards (5 star level) - if you’re lucky, you also get a friendly elephant in the tree top compound, who broke a water pipe for a fresh drink.

We stayed at the Lentaba Lodge during our stay at Lalibella Wildlife Reserve and had an amazing time. Our guide (Will) was brilliant and made our stay so memorable. I appreciate that its an early start at around 5am for the morning drives but definitely worth while. In total we did 6 drives (3 morning and 3 late afternoon) and got a different experience in each drive.|Thanks to Will and the whole team for making this so special for us. You have to put this place on your bucket list of things to do/see

We had such a wonderful experience at Lalibela in the Lentaba lodge. From the moment we arrived, we were treated with most incredible hospitality and the set up means you are interacting and dining with other lodgers from the outset, which was nice. A special thanks to our guide Woody who went above and beyond during the game drives to give us an unforgettable experience! We seen 4 out of the big 5 along with many others. Its truly inspiring to be in the company of someone who lives and breaths what they do for a living so passionately! We learned and seen a lot thanks to him!

We booked Lalibela Game Reserve (LGR) through Mr Stu of Langloe. Highly recommended! Car picked us up both ways. LGR is a beautiful place, vast, scenic .. and we saw the big 4s out of the big 5s (lion, rhinoceros, elephant, buffalo) except leopard. But we were compensated by the cheetahs - a whole family of 6! Our Ranger, Das was very good, knowledgable, patient and makes very good gin and tonic using his own measurements! He was also the best driver for off-roads and drove very close to the animals including the lions! What an experience. We also went for star gazing. Pitch black in the wilderness by Woody (and Ruben, jokingly he acts as food for potential jackals). Woody brought along his giant telescope and we saw Jupiter, Orion’s Belt and many beautiful stars. The staff at LGR Top Tree were very good, efficient, clean, food was excellent and the chef made very good breads. The various teams talk to each other as we were always greeted with cold towels every time we reached the lodge. While waiting for our 4.30 pm game drive, we went to the swimming pool at Tree Top to cool down. A huge elephant visited us trying to sneak his trunk through the fence to drink the clear pool water! It was so beautiful, up close and personal with the elephant. Do remember to bring a pair of slippers as the walkway on barefoot (to the pool) can be very hot in South Africa weather (I obviously forgot to bring!)

What an unique experience it was. We spent 2 nights at Inzolo Lodge at Lalibela Wildlife Reserve and everything was excellent organized and served. Everything was amazing. It was our first luxury Safari experience and we were surprisingly satisfied of it. The staff were incredible, from waitress to our Ranger Liezel. In particular, as Italian, we have to mention the delicious food we had. The Chef was a really good one. The last day we were the only one at the lodge and they lovely arranged everything for us, like a really romantic dinner in front of the firewood and a stunning outside breakfast with Safari view. We loved everything and we hope to come back one day! Thanks 🤍🙏🏼 Ps. They also have a particular way to respect animals habitat (like keeping the right distance while watching) and protection , which is absolutely not to underestimated!

Amazing reserve and lodge! You really are in the tree tops and there is a family of Nyala always there to greet you when you come back from the morning safari. The staff is incredible, they look after you like you never have before. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for an amazing luxurious experience!

Our first safari, and we hit gold. Beautiful reserve, lovely accommodation, wonderful staff and exceptional guides! The key difference between a reserve and a national park, is that in a reserve the guides will take you off-piste to see the animals. If you want to find a hidden gem, go to Lalibela.

A truly fantastic place to stay if you want to have a great safari holiday. The ranger (Ryno) was excellent, as were all the staff in the Treetops lodge. Food was superb and the rooms, set in the treetops on stilts, were of a very high quality. We saw four of the big five during the first two days of our stay, as well as many other animals. The visit to Treetops lodge very much proved to be all we hoped it would be. Highly recommended place to stay in all respects. Just one incredibly small point to add: it'd be good if there was a coffee machine of some sort on site which serves out complimentary coffees (eg. cappuccinos, lattes, flat whites etc); the only coffee on offer was filter.
