A+ Food is delicious, extensive drink options Incl wine selection. Staff and service was very good even when it was a relatively busy evening. Ordered 7 of the small plates, could have gone with 6 or even 5 as we were very full by the end of the evening. Highly recommended, bookings essential.

Lalla Rookh is one of those hidden gems that never disappoints. Tucked just off St Georges Terrace, it’s a great place for a post-work meal or casual night out. The pasta dishes are made fresh and cooked to perfection — the duck pappardelle in particular is worth going back for. They’ve also got a really good wine list with plenty of WA options. Comfortable vibe, great food, and top service every time.

Came into the city on a Tuesday and had dinner. Decided in the $85 pp share menu. What an absolute delight!!!! So Devine and soo much food! The waiter Danny was outstanding and knew the specials very well and was very attentive. The meal was quite sublime with a large variety of tasty plates ranging across the menu including the fish of the day at rankin cod and the pasta of the day which was a delightful osso bucco base. Deliciousness all round with the best tiramisu I’ve ever had for dessert. The mozzarella asparagus for the appetiser were freaking amazing! So so glad we went, so happy we chose the share taste experience. Simply wonderful, and thank you Lalla Rookh 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

Lalla Rookh is one of those hidden gems just off St Georges Terrace that keeps delivering. The wine bar is cosy and stylish, and the Italian-inspired menu always has a few standouts — the pasta is consistently great. It's an ideal spot for business catch-ups or winding down after work. The staff are knowledgeable and genuinely enthusiastic, especially when it comes to wine pairings.

I really enjoyed the dark ambiance of the place, and the neon pink pig logo is adorable. It’s a popular spot for dining with coworkers, which speaks to its appeal. The waitress was incredibly friendly, and the food was quite good.

First visit here for me. We had the 'il Capo'/Chef's tasting menu which was 6 shared courses; influenced by seasonality, local produce & signature dishes. It was divine! So fresh and the flavours and textures were outstanding. The staff were friendly and attentive and the wine list was incredible. I'll definitely be back.

The couple that own this little wine bar have created a lovely little hideaway nook for those that are looking for a fine glass of wine and a simple rustic meal , great subdued atmosphere and welcoming front of house. Try it you will enjoy it.

Google
Fantastic service from the team and the mains were excellent, however both of the antipasto were subpar, one being too cold on the inside one is under flavoured…….

Yelp
Have frequented Lalla Rookh several times for lunch or dinner and on all occasions the food has surpassed all expectations. Service is attentive and knowledgable while the wine list contains a good cross-section of excellent wines from renown regions. The ambience and style is also very appealing making the experience complete - great to see!

Yelp
The last time I went was unfortunately poor service and incredibly loud. Not what I'd expect from a decent restaurant.

Yelp
Good wine and service but the food isn't that great. Beef carpaccio bland and the Gnocchi very sparse main serving. Nice to visit but probably wouldn't rush back.

Yelp
Still love it here!! Brought an out of town friend here of Saturday night and it never fails to disappoint. Great service - staff helpful, full of knowledge but not intrusive. Water kept full and recommendations were provided. The food...oh the food! We had the rabbit pappardelle and the smoked lamp rump for our mains. To say theywere delish is an understatement. The Rabbit was a beautiful dish and of perfect size, enough so that you were full but not so much you couldn't fit dessert! The lamp rump was smokey and delicious, it would be a great dish to share with some sides. It was explained by the waitress that the lamb was a meat heavy dish but we decided to forgo a side as my friend was keen for much meat goodness. Drinks were ordered based on recommendation and the red was the perfect accompaniment for our dishes. We decided that dessert was a must and the Tiramisu and the Pannacotta did not let us down! Along with dessert my friend went for a Caffe Corretto cocktail which she highly recommended. As always I will be back!

Yelp
A little while ago I headed back to Lalla Rookh Bar & Eating House for dinner, not knowing at the time, that this would be my last il Capo experience with head chef Joel Valvasori at the helm. Lalla Rookh is one of my favourite Italian restaurants in Perth and their pasta is incredible thanks to Joel channeling his Northern Italian roots and focusing on seasonal produce. The modern Italian menu is full of mouthwatering dishes but the il Capo is the way to go to get the full experience. Letting you sit back and enjoy as six chef selected dishes are placed in front of you, share style. You get to try a mix of menu favourites as well as off menu chef specials. While Lalla Rookh is a reasonably large venue and caters for everyone with a bar, courtyard, lounge area, wine store and dining room, it still has a relaxed, cosy feel that instantly makes you want to settle in for the night with a good bottle of wine and some yummy food. We dined on a Monday so it was fairly quiet however on Friday nights it certainly gets busy with the city work crowd and has more of a 'welcome to the weekend' party vibe. Seated in the dining room, il Capo menu decided and just what I wanted in a red wine (an Italian number chosen perfectly by our lovely waitress) we eagerly awaited our first dish. After a short wait, it arrived, duck liver, picolit gel, toasted corn and fried Venetian brioche. This looked amazing and with my love for parfait/pate, I was excited. The fried brioche was buttery and toasty and a match made in heaven for the rich, creamy duck liver. The gel added a lovely sweetness and the ratio to parfait was spot on, with the toasted corn just adding another tasty element to an already great dish. Second course was roasted blood orange tears, buffalo mozzarella and salted crostoli. Vibrant on the plate with that blood orange, one bite and I could have eaten a whole plate of these things. That light, freshness from the buffalo mozzarella, salty and sweet, 'melt in your mouth' pastry and the tangy, blood orange was like a party in your mouth. What an incredible flavour combination, I loved this dish! Next up were clams with fennel, garlic, chilli, white wine and burnt bread. The aroma that this brought to the table was so inviting. Perfect little mouthfuls of delicate clam meat in saucy goodness with all those delicious, simple flavours that just work together. When you've got such superb produce to work with there's no point in trying to do too much, simple is best and allowing the produce to shine always wins. Fourth course was pasta, this is what I was really hanging out for and it most certainly didn't disappoint. The prettiest looking fusi you ever did see, covered in a incredibly tasty rabbit ragu and of course a side of parmesan. To be honest, I still can't get over all those divine little hand made fusi's, perfect for catching all that yummy sauce and making each mouthful an absolute delight. Pasta heaven right there. Next up and last savoury course was capretto 'in bianco', milk-fed goat, green beans and tomato. The meat fell apart, was super tender and full of flavour. All those yummy rich flavours you get from cooking a stew and meat that had been cooked to perfection. By this point we had started to struggle but were still enjoying every mouthful. Full but definitely room for dessert, I was hoping for something light and not too sweet and the chef must have known. Vanilla semifreddo with apricots and pistachio nougat. The semifreddo was light and creamy, plump, juicy apricots and nougat that was out of this world. Everything on the plate worked together in harmony and gave us the perfect end to what was an absolutely incredible meal. I couldn't fault the service, everyone was lovely and friendly with that desired balanced of being attentive but letting you enjoy your night without too many interruptions. The staff and the vibe of a restaurant go hand in hand, happy staff equal a positive vibe which all creates a great experience and this places delivers on all accounts. The relaxed, cosiness also lends itself to an ideal date night venue. When something comes to an end you always wish you had of made an effort to experience it more often, especially when it's so delicious, however there's no need to despair as Joel Valvasori is opening his own pasta bar in Subiaco called Lulu La Delizia at the end of October. Can't wait for that one! It's also exciting for Lalla Rookh as sous chef Alexandra Haynes takes over with her approach on Italian food being a little lighter and more feminine. So it's a great excuse to get back to Lalla Rookh to check out the changes while also adding another place to your ever growing list. Winning!

Yelp
I heard such rave reviews so I decided to bring my out if town colleague here for brunch. I was running late and they were kind enough to reschedule/wait. The service was attentive, and waitress was very friendly. I'm impressed as the service is as good as the states. We picked the il Capo menu for brunch.. It started off with these house made chippies and ricotta which were tasty. Then, these fried zucchini were ok too.. however the menu started getting a bit funky. The beef tongue tasted gamey.. and the pork wasn't that great.. Fortunately the gnocchi was good to help get rid of the wierd taste. We ended with the yoghurt panacotta which was delicious and light but the rhubarb tasted like fizzy soap. I was kind of disappointed.. Not sure if I'll be back.. it was pretty average.

Yelp
I'd watched chef Joel Valvasori's food on instagram for years before I finally made it to Lalla Rookh to try it. His seasonal creations, made with the spirit of traditional Italian cuisine but with a refined edge were the stuff of late night drooling sessions for me across the other side of the country. Exquisite pasta, plates heaving with meat and bone marrow, charred toast, fresh vegetables... I had an inkling I would enjoy this food before I'd even taken a seat! Fortunately this was one of those times when the reality perfectly matches the expectation. We removed choice and went with the il capo menu so we could sit back, relax and chat while enjoying the procession of dishes. I love this approach to dining as it means we got the best dishes from the kitchen and they were paced in a way that balanced flavours and textures. Highlights were the bone marrow and a delicate eel pasta dish. The osso bucco tipped us over the edge in terms of stomach capacity and almost... almost... encroached upon the dessert stomach which meant we had to force feed ourselves the textural delight of the fried custard (think: squishy warm centre, crunchy exterior) Pro tip: not for small eaters. Skip lunch and wear your stretchy pants.

Yelp
A great spot for a few drinks and some jerky. If you can find it down the alley way; highly recommended. A very cool, dim lit bar that serves some great cocktails and some awesome boiler maker combinations: tonight I'm trying the Canadian club cask mates with a young Henry's real ale.

Yelp
Went here for the first time for a work team dinner and boy was I impressed! Wow! What an awesome bar/restaurant :) Set on St Georges Terrace the lower ground at the Allendale Square building, you enter by stairs, we nearly missed it! Once you get down the stairs you enter a gorgeous little court yard with nice bar tables and stools and you walk in and to one side you have beautiful interior with comfy couches and eclectic chandeliers and art. And to the other side you have a long bar with an assortment of wines and alcoholic beverages. Then walk further in an there is the lovely intimate restaurant. We enjoyed a few drinks in the bar area I had a delicious red wine. Lalla Rookh have quite an assortment as they have a wine store that is inspired by Italy showcasing Australian and International wines. Lalla Rouke offer an all-day menu suitable for long lunches, mid- afternoon grazing and late night dinners at the bar. We dined in the restaurant, for starters shared an assortment of SALUMI & Co which was the house selection of cured meats, cheese, olives, pickles & grissini wow if this was the starters I was very excited for the main! For main I chose the pappardelle with sugo di carne : organic beef & free range pork ragu which was absolutely amazing and it didn't disappoint! The pasta melted in your mouth and the taste was immaculate! So so so amazing!! I had such a wonderful experience at Lalla Rookh and look forward to trying this impressive bar and eating house again :)

Yelp
Lalla Rookh continues as one of the better eating houses in the CBD. Once again on this most recent visit we sat in the Wine Store area off Sherwood Court, surrounded by racks and boxes of wine - it is a great little space based on the enoteche of Italy and wine can be purchased for takeaway or for a corkage fee consumed on the premises - and is also available by the glass. The wine list is extremely well put together, covering Australian and international wines, with a focus on regional and varietal expression, many rarely seen around town, while the menu is a celebration of regional Italian cuisine. With our daughter in tow, lady FWO and I dropped in for lunch earlier this week. A glass of rosé (what else for Lady FWO?), Riesling for me and sparkling for our effervescent daughter set the scene while we pondered our options. Clos Cibonne, a rosé wine from Provence, made mainly from Tibouren grapes, is a little different from the run of the mill - a slightly oxidized nose, and a complex, savoury palate - silky textured and with sustained length. The Yard Bimbi Bimbi Riesling from Larry Cherubino had some age - it was 2010- and it has a lifted floral bouquet, with a somewhat herbal quality - the palate is crisp, juicy, and full of intense lemon and tangerine flavours. The Great Southern keeps turning out wonderful Rieslings. 2014 Blind Corner Cremant from Margaret River, made from Chenin Blanc, has toasty and lemon aromas, with a fresh, fruity, but still crisp and dry palate; certainly a wine to whet your appetite. On the food: we began with a couple of smaller starters - peasanella and kingfish crudo, before moving on to our mains of choice - roasted barramundi, salsiccia furian (pork sausage) and ravioli. A basket of chewy, doughy bread topped with dried mushrooms, and a little olive oil, helped us through the short wait for our meals. The crudo, chopped squares of juicy, delicate and succulent kingfish was accompanied by sweet but still slightly tart Greenstar apple, a scatter of pink peppercorn fragments and a splash of vermouth based dressing - a wonderful amalgam of texture and flavour - light and refreshing. Peasanella - soft, crumbly, creamy and salty ricotta, a gentle lemon infusion, and snappy fresh green peas sat on a bed of chopped, crunchy grilled bread and a scattering of aromatic mint leaves - again full of contrasts, light, fresh and vitalising. The fish had a salty crisp skin, tender and moist flesh, and sat alongside shaved fennel and celery, and a scatter of vinegary pickled mussels; a dash of lemon oil and that was that - simple and down to earth flavours that worked well together. The tender, al dente, pillows of ravioli were filled with creamy and salty mix of ricotta and spinach, and served with sweet chopped figs, walnuts and a dash of sage butter to add a lifted herbal element. Finally, the salsiccia furian - beautifully seasoned, slightly spicy, rich pork sausage accompanied by pickled sour flavours of fermented sauerkraut, offset by sweeter notes from apple and then a zip from a creamy horseradish sauce. Perfect. With our meals we moved on to a bottle of 2014 "X by Xabregas" Spencer Vineyard Riesling - a fragrant bouquet of green apples, pears and spice, with a touch of mandarin; the palate is off-dry with a little residual sugar, but still zesty with lemon, lime and apple notes; good acid and a long finish. As I have said before, we think the Wine Store - and by extension Lalla Rookh itself - is one of the best Italian trattoria in Perth- the food is outstanding, the wine list broad, beautifully constructed and ever changing, and the service excellent and knowledgeable. Absolutely recommended.

Yelp
I love Lalla Rookh. So much. I have only managed to make it out to the restaurant a couple of times, but each time it's blown me away and I've sworn that I'll be back sooner next time. Walking downstairs into the hidden yet open 'atrium' area, you feel transported off of the busy terrace. The underground restaurant area is intimate and spacious all at once. Being here with both a group of girlfriends and just my husband, it's perfect for both types of night out. Unlike so many restaurants, the sound here is well-considered. It's not hushed, but it's not loud. There is atmosphere and conviviality - but you can hear your own conversations. It's brilliant. There is only one issue with Lalla Rookh - the eternal debate over whether to order al a carte...or get the il Capo menu (a 6 course degustation of the chef's choice). This truly is a heartbreaking decision. With girlfriends, I tend to go for the order as you go option. Usually starting with a meats and cheese platter (so good!), then having a main or a few smaller dishes to share. With my husband, it's the il Capo menu. And the promise that next time, we'll come back and share the roasted hickory smoked beef on the bone and get a few other dishes. It doesn't help that I Instagram-stalk the chef, so I see a lot of the amazing dishes that circulate only on the il capo menu. The staff have always been lovely and helpful. Not overbearing, but right there with an answer or some guidance if we need it.

Yelp
Rookh is best described as an upscale gastropub. It's not a quiet place (noise levels are ' average' in the restaurant portion, but high in the bar-area) and seating is comprised of a mix of high tables & stools, booths, and regular tables. Thus, Rookh is not fine dining in the classic sense. However, the food is totally delicious although a bit more 'bold' than the subtle combinations found in a traditional fine-dining restaurant. Take for example the fig with crunchy bacon and ricotta. Delicious combination of sweet, smoked, and fresh but not exactly subtle. We opted for the chef's selection (really good value at $65 (or $55?) per person) for the table, which is a mini-degustation consisting of 6 shared courses. In addition to the fig dish above, there was a cod mousse on parsley oil, delicious bone marrow, fantastic lasagnieta (?) pasta with goat, a tasty kielbasa on sauerkraut, and a really delicious desert. Excellent beers on tap too. I don't give out 5 stars easily, but this place was just great. I wasn't too excited about the continuously rotating servers bringing out the various dishes (although one or two remained constant through the evening) and the fact that there was no write-up of the chef's selection (which of course means that when in a group you miss some of the descriptions of the courses). But overall this was pretty fantastic. I will be back.

Yelp
I came for dinner with a few friends the other week and had a great experience here. We ordered the Il Capo (Chef's Menu) and it was great to get a chance to try things I wouldn't normally order but was pleasantly surprised by. To start we had the bruschetta with pickled veggies, savoury anchovies and torn bocconcini, and the beef carpaccio which was nice with a bit of salty ricotta salata and greens on top. Next was the spaghetti with clams which was simple and delicious, very salty so it tasted like the sea. The ox tongue skewers were definitely not something I would normally order, but they were actually really good! They were tender and almost creamy tasting, and had a great char. Another pleasant surprise was the grilled pork neck which was actually really nice. The bitter radicchio and thinly shaved fresh radishes on the side were a nice touch. They have a great selection of wines, the ambiance is great, and while a touch pricey, there is obvious thought and craftsmanship in these dishes.

Yelp
In the recent months, I've certainly not been a stranger to Lalla Rookh - upon arrival, the waitstaff occasionally share my coy smile and I indulge into the lead up to my favourite pasta course, which is always beautifully introduced by the man behind the magic, Chef Joel Valvasori. I'm really fond of Chef's Menus, Prix Fixes and Degustations - ordering ala carte always makes me feel like I'm missing out on something. The il capo menu at Lalla Rookh offers 6 courses for $55 per person, which easily makes it one of the most affordable degustations you're likely to come across in Perth. Upon each visit, the menu alters slightly - so far, there's always been a different pasta and something delightfully generous for the carnivores. No matter what, you leave the table full and immensely satisfied, but not before an espresso or a neat nightcap to conclude a well done meal. "We offer an all-day menu suitable for long lunches, mid- afternoon grazing and late night dinners at the bar." - How they describe their menu, I think, embodies the unique spirit that I feel every time I walk into Lalla Rookh. It's my restaurant reliable, easily my sole favourite restaurant in Perth - it's in it's own way, mysterious, endlessly comforting and definitely fancy; the type of place that you could impress just about anyone in, without getting hot under the collar or cashing in your life savings. Look out for the Bone Marrow, the Pannacotta Vera and make sure you don't leave without trying their pasta!

Yelp
Read alot of raving reviews about this place, so when we went I was expecting more. We had the El capo menu and thought a few of the dishes were a bit lacking and there could have been more food. Wine was good and the decor and ambience was nice, maybe I would try it again and see if the normal menu was better.

Yelp
I have been to Lalla Rookh three times now, and every time has been absolutely amazing. The service is always great, with staff attentive but not constantly hanging around. The food has been perfect each time. I've never eaten rabbit before, but I chose the pappadelle with rabbit and chestnuts for something different, and I'm so glad I did! It was delicious, and such a great serving size. My friend had the osso bucco, and it was perfect. The most recent time, I had the pan roasted chicken. I was a little concerned because it's just chicken, how great can it be, but oh it was incredible. All three times I've been have been with large groups, and every time, not one person has walked away disappointed (except maybe about the ravioli, please make it a bigger serving!). There's a great selection of desserts, and the wine list is huge. Definitely a winner!!!

Yelp
What a find Lalla Rookh is for me. After a little search we found the cavernous eating and drinking establishment tucked away on St George's terrace. The menu is inviting with a taste of everything Italian to give the fussiest eater a chance. The pickled carrot, olives and Byron bay salami were ordered for starters, with ravioli of spinach and ricotta for main. The pasta was a genuine top 3 contender for best pasta dishes consumed. The sage, butter and fig sauce was a marriage of flavours that didn't overpower the delicate spinach and ricotta filling, but instead complimented it and produced a proverbial party in the mouth sensation. The service was exactly where it should be, which was attentive without being to overbearing. All in all a fantastic meal and will bring me back again and again. Food 9/10 service 8.5/10 decor 8/10

Yelp
Great location for pre drinks/dinner if you have an event to go to at Perth Concert Hall. Until I got there I hadn't actually realised this has taken the place of Emporio which I frequented regularly when I worked in the CBD, so initially I felt sentimental that it was no longer Emporio, but once I saw the menu I was pretty stoked and positive it was going to be a good experience. The staff were very accommodating and understanding that we wanted to be in and out quickly to make it in time for the opening night of Telstra Perth Fashion Festival, and assisted us with fantastic recommendations. The smoked mushrooms with roasted maple bacon were a hit - but there can always be more bacon ;-) If I'd had more time I definitely would have made room for the Italian doughnut sandwiches for dessert, but alas, looks like I'll just have to come back again.

Yelp
Seriously impressed with the food. Had dinner with two friends and the three of us all went for the pasta - just different dishes. Firstly, you can tell its homemade, it's perfect and tasty and misshaped but still uniform. Secondly, loved the complimentary bread which was like savory but also had a honey drizzling through it?! Super tasty! I had the vegetarian ravioli which was filled with caramelised figs, sage, walnuts and kale I think. For a main course size, I received 6 decent sized ravioli. My girlfriends had a pheasant ragu and pappardelle and the other a tomato-based ricotta gnocchi. None of us wanted to share - a really good sign. We all are everything but none were hungry. Brilliant service. Just LOVED it!

Yelp
Great service food and wine! Booked the day before and asked for a romantic quiet table for two and that was exactly what we had, tucked around the corner from the main bar which was very noisy! We had the il capo (Chef's menu) Great beautifully cooked food with attention to detail. Beer, wine and service excellent. Will be back!

Yelp
Wow the food here is good had the lamb and it was top notch there is also like a tasting $60 6 courses maybe worth a try?

Yelp
Service was amazing. 5 star. Food was good but not great. Portion-size let you down. Expectations were higher for Italian dining. We had the pizza, and 2 different types of pasta. Pizza was far too small for the price. Prawns should have been the feature in the pasta, not minced. Atmosphere was good. Lots of space and interesting design. Albeit tough to find.

Yelp
Lalla Rookh is a quality wining and dining option in the CBD. Located downstairs on the corner of St George's Terrace and Sherwood Court, it has outdoor, lounge bar and seated dining areas. The food is Italian and they do it very well indeed. I find Lalla Rookh a little pricey, which comes with the real estate, I guess, and the menu is too meat heavy for my liking. However, the food I have eaten there has been absolutely delicious and the wine superb. The service has also been excellent. I really appreciate the kitchen being open a little later, and it's a good place to pop into after events at the Concert Hall for this reason. I don't cope well with noise, so my one beef with Lalla Rookh is that the hard surfaces inside seem to amplify the noise to a level that is uncomfortable for me. I tend to avoid it when busy because going down those stairs on a rowdy night can feel like entering a cacophonous pit. When it's not noisy though, it's pretty awesome.

Yelp
Came here with friends for a winter outing. I love the atmosphere and the service is excellent. Definitely a little bit of a pricier meal - but totally worth it. Starter Olives are a MUST! So good. We shared some entrees. The Pea salad was fresh and delicious. I particularly liked the seafood shell dish. The Duck liver I could probably take or leave, probably because I was expecting pate - and go actual livers on toast. Luckily they taste like bacon. I had the Rabbit pasta (It had a far fancier name I promise) which was incredibly filling. I think I won the lucky door prize by having a bit of rabbit bone still in the pasta, but I promise I didn't let it sway my vote. Everyone left satisfied and happy. I think this place is best for just a few drinks though. The atmosphere on a Friday/Saturday night is great.

Yelp
I worked next door for a year and didn't even know about the wine cellar/bottle shop!! They have a pretty stunning range of wines and the staff are very knowledgeable.

Yelp
Had dinner with my partner and another couple. Had the barramundi - yummy crispy skin. Red wine was awesome (it was a Cabernet Merlot). Can't remember the name - sorry - got a bit too acquainted with the wine by the end of the night. The atmosphere is great. We all shared the large cured meats and antipasto - top quality. We were the last ones to leave the restaurant. Definitely will be coming back next time.

Yelp
Luckily enough, I went to Lalla Rookh on a night when the Bistecca Florentina was the steak special. If you love steak, this is an amazing dish. The 600g T-bone steak is cold smoked with herbs and then oven roasted to medium rare. But, be warned, order a side or two because it comes just as a massive t-bone steak and a piece of lemon. Squeeze the lemon over the steak before you carve it up.

Yelp
This place never disappoints! The food is consistently good! You can tell the produce is extremely fresh! I've been here three times now and i would go again! The portion sizes are also very generous! Definitely a place to try out if your heading to the city!

Yelp
Came here for my 18th with a few friends and it was amazing! The service was great, food was spot on and the drinks were quite nice. Had the "stuffed chicken breast with panzanella salad" and it was perfect. The rest of our table got pizza and pasta which were equally delicious. Have recommended to all my friends and family, and will definitely be coming back

Yelp
Craving for some Italian food? Head down to Lalla Rookh and you won't be sorry! Their pastas are fresh and appetizing, the menu has something for everyone and of course - being a bar as well - you can order a nice cold beer or a cocktail to go with your meal... This place is quite a hub and a lot of people seem to like heading there after work, and it's no wonder why... With great food, drinks, good atmosphere and friendly staff it sure leaves people coming back for more

Yelp
I don't know why it took me so long to visit this place, because it certainly blew my mind. Lalla Rookh is broken up into three sections: bistro wine bar, outdoor garden area and the main area- the bar/restaurant section. The wine store, is an awkward space, however they have converted it into a chic French style wine nook. It's the nucleus for suits, in particular lawyers and barristers- typical post work CBD hangout. There is a range of wines to drink and buy, as well as the same menu throughout the restaurant. I shared nonna's meatballs with soft polenta and parmigiano as well as smoked mushrooms & roasted bacon, mille erbe salad, pangrattato, aged balsamico - which was very good, however a little too salty for my liking. Service was fast and efficient and I can't wait to check out the rest of the sections with friends and indulging in a decadent lunch or dinner.

Yelp
God I love this place. Well, I have loved it. From Sommelier Jeremy (a really funny bugger) and his sexy little wine bar at the side, to the dishes served up by Joel V-P. But alas, Joel has now moved on to a new venture. Jeremy remains, though, which is great news. Pull up a stool and have a chat. He'll serve you something fabulous. I promise.

Yelp
So there I was just walking down the street, searching for the entrance to this establishment when suddenly I see some stairs leading down, down underground opening into an outdoor seating area.......possible more like an open air area. Inside there are several different areas to sit whether you are in the bar area or the restaurant part. The inside area seemed large enough that there could be a decent sized crowd in and you would not feel packed in like sardines, which I don't recall seeing on the menu. I was attending the UYE being held there, a long table load of yelpers turned up nearly all new faces to me which was nice to meet new people. Anywho, the menu is packed with all sorts of dishes to tempt the taste buds from veal tongue sandwiches, eel, rabbit and wagu pasta, and much more which possible due to the wine I don't remember. I was chose to brave that night and went out on a limb ordering the veal tongue sandwiches, my conservative side was still walking the streets above trying to find the stairs. Still to my surprise I was impressed when the crumbed and fried sandwiches arrived, I was not expecting that nor did I expect them to be as tasty as they were. The wine and drinks menu in general is quite healthy and had enough variety in grape and country to please any connoisseur. It was pointed out to me that there was a wine store in the depths of the restaurant as well, however the door into the wine store was far away so I could not see inside from where I was sitting......also it was shut, and looked heavy to open and most likely locked as it was a Monday. The staff were great, food was excellent and conversation entertaining.

Yelp
Lalla Rookh is fantastic! Was there about 8pm on a Saturday night and was thoroughly impressed by the service. When we asked where we could sit for dessert we were told anywhere and then presented and with all our options. We ended up in the cellar and it was brilliant! The dessert was really good too, I wish I had ordered more!

Yelp
Lalla Rookh named after a gold mine NW of Marble Bar that was named after a Kalgoorlie showgirl. With public bar, a vertical garden and dining lounge area, this addition to CBD locations brings many opportunities and reasons to revisit. Service has been spot on, friendly and approachable each time I've visited. The pasta is made fresh in house, both the ravioli and pappardelle were stunning. A cross between gourmet pub food, Italian style home cooked recipes and a bit of local West Australian produce is what you'll find. The fit out makes a crisp and clean, yet relaxing, informal atmosphere. If you sit in the vertical garden, make sure to have you sunscreen on though! I've taken people from interstate, and overseas here and would do so again.

Yelp
Updated review! Because I was treated to such an amazing meal and such great service from the staff! Head Chef Joel and Manager Pat made my sister and I feel so welcome and really comfortable, even while seated at a higher table at the centre of the floor. Loved that beef carpaccio and tried some more of their available wines and they really are quite delectable! Could have easily sat there all night and drank and basked in the great vibe that is Lalla Rookh. If you're even contemplating the chef's menu I would say, stop hesitating and just do it! $55 a head and you're treated to a feast! All the staff sure know what they're doing and talking about, which gives them a much deserved mention on the Gourmet Traveller this year! The way they talk about the food and make sure their diners are treated well, is such a great experience I dare you to try fault! Had no choice to bump this rating up to 5 stars! I could see me coming back here every week! If you go, tell them My sent you!

Yelp
Dining Downtown Went for a bite here with some friends before going to the Bombs Per Minute (BPM) event at Langly Park last night. We had made a booking over the phone but as it was early Saturday night the reservation wasn't really necessary. The after work crowd of the week days was absent and the restaurant and bar area was sparse. We were promptly shown to a table by a friendly young waitress and given our menus. Water was promptly put on the table as was complementary bread which was quiet tasty. We ordered the braised pork meatballs with soft polenta and parmesan cheese, marinated octopus (a special that night) and some prawns with a creamy sauce as starters. They were all quiet tasty but small so I recommend 1 per person if coming for dinner. Pricing is in the expensive region. For mains we ordered pappardelle and pork ragu, a sirloin steak and roast pork with crackling and peach (a special that night). All dishes came out within 5 minutes of the last entree being collected and the presentation of each dish was quiet impressive. Everyone was happy with their food but for standard above normal pricing it was to be expected. Overall a nice place to go out. Good on a Saturday night if you want to avoid the after work crowds during the week days (not everyone enjoys shouting at their friends to get a point across). A credit to the wait staff who were both quiet attentive and professional. Check it out.

Yelp
We orginally had bookings for the restuarant but then decided to stay in the bar area as there was more atmosphere. I didn't enjoy the pizza, found the dough bit heavy. Lamb chops were plain and served with chick peas. The most enjoyable dish that evening was the beef capaccio. Next time I will try the restuarant food, have heard good revies.

Yelp
Loved this place for our Christmas lunch. Great food, nice atmosphere, good service. Easy to go here when you work in the CBD. All the pastas we had were amazing! Definitely will come back here.

Yelp
Cold smoked steak is yum. Would be nicer if lighter in salt.

Yelp
Interesting authentic Italian dishes, well constructed and thoughtful which please the palette. Predominately pasta driven and a smattering of mains, prices are pretty standard for Perth i.e ludicrously expensive. Negative points are the noise levels are high when busy, and tables are intimately spaced (its all about covers).

Yelp
Came here for a work function, so the first thing I should mention is that the menu is quite different. That's to be expected though, with any large function the menu is always going to be different. I was in a "steak" mood, so I ordered the sirloin. The worst part was the menu said it only comes in medium or well done. I'm a medium rare guy, and I'd prefer it on the rarer side. So, the steak came out medium-well, as per the menu, but boy was it dry and tasteless! Note to the chefs: that's what happens when you cook slightly above average cuts of red meat for too long: it gets dry! For entree they brought out boards of cold cuts and cheese. Can't award any points there, because it's just simply laying the stuff on a board and no cooking involved whatsoever. There were some meatballs going around that were pretty tasty, but again, not a heck of a lot of skill involved there. All in all? "Average at best," would sum it up. I'm glad the boss was paying because I certainly wouldn't go recommending it to friends or go back to try again. Not that it was "bad," but it was below average for a place purporting to be a more high end establishment.

Yelp
Set in the heart of the Perth CBD I visited Lalla Rookh on a quiet Wednesday night. The service was speedy with a touch of that too cool for school attitude. The food was quite good. I had the parpadelle which was pretty good and my partner the spinach ravioli which I must say was super fresh. A strong 3/5 and I would go again.

Yelp
We were a group of 14 for our work Xmas dinner here. We had a set menu (shared tapas style). Delicious food, yummy cocktails and a nice setting. The tables aren't too close together so you don't feel like it's crowded even when it's busy.

Yelp
Not bad little place..has some good stuff on menu. Must get in early if you want to get seating though as can be very popular. Dishes are a bit on the skimpy side though. Nice ambience though..and wine can be taken away if you want.

Yelp
Superb pasta! I am so glad that we found the restaurant through Yelp. The prawn tagliatelle and gnocchi were well executed. We would definitely recommend lalla rookh!

Yelp
This place was great. The food was really really good and the service was as good if not better. I had the "peasanella" salad and the pappardelle with sugo di carne. I also had dessert. The honeycomb gelato, fried veneziana. Everything was fantastic. And the service was attentive and very friendly. This is a big deal to me since I travel a lot for work and often have dinner by myself. A friendly smile goes a long way. I'm visiting for work and will be in town for a week. I'll probably be back before I leave.

Yelp
Hands down one of my favourite venues in Perth. The service is impeccable, the wine list exceptional, and Chef Joel Valvasori serves up consistently fantastic and well priced food. Definitely recommend the Chef's Tasting Menu, at only $55. An absolute gem!
