How can it be this restaurant was not close to fully booked on a Friday evening? Lucky for us, but a five minute stroll too much for most?! It's a nice place and the food is great. Nice appetizer, foie the canard starter obvously good, but the langoustine my wife ordered was super. Then the turbot for main. Nice piece, perfectly cooked, but then the veggies that accompagnied it, like green asparagus, carrot and zuccini, all at their perfect cuisson. Chapeau! Dessert and cheese up to the standard of the rest. Good Armagnac to finish off. Just a couple of minutes longer stroll people, you will be happy you made the (small) effort!

We had great meals here last year and decided to eat here again while visiting the Loire chateaux and were not disappointed!! Run by a husband and wife (he is the chef) the service is super friendly and fast and the food was delicious. Over 2 nights we tried the langoustines starters, the turbot and veal mains and the framboise sablé and chocolate deserts, which were all beautifully prepared. Definitely recommend this good value restaurant!

Rick Steves sent us. An incredible meal served by an attentive server at a surprisingly affordable price. This gem of a restaurant is a bit hidden but, like any treasure, was worth the effort. The food’s presentation, as well as the chocolate dessert both stood out in my mind. Try it!

This was some of the very best restaurant food. The portions were appropriate for multiple courses, and everything was excellently prepared and perfectly presented. Don’t modify anything on the menu, just enjoy what they bring. The duck croquettes were wonderful with white and green asparagus, the pork tenderloin tender and tasty (with perfectly cooked vegetables) and the chocolate mousse was decadent and rich.

Google
Delicious creative food and they accommodated our dietary restrictions easily. Small place with nice indoor and outdoor dining areas. The server was friendly and helpful - but she was the only one handling 8 tables, so things were a tiny bit slow. The cookies brought at the end were fantastic! I’m glad there was only one for each of us. :-)

Google
Wonderful food. Started with smoked trout served with some sweet-and-sour cabbage and a nice sauce. Super tasteful chicken, so succulent. I took this as main course, but it was also served with the kids menu with mashed potatoes (so I could enjoy even more 😂). For dessert there was this wonderful tube made of molten sugar filled with a chocolate cream and some mango sorbet and fresh cut mango. Beside our party of 6 there was no one for lunch which made it nice and calm compared to most restaurants in the more touristy area of the city.

Yelp
Restaurant is about 4.5 stars. Reservations are recommended. The town Amboise is a small area. The restaurants are limited selection and get full easy. The reservation is a must for the good restaurant. We were able to get the reservation at last minute availability. The chef start with chef complimentary dishes. It is cracker with cream. It is a good opening. I got local mascot for drink. We have pre prix menu. Our app is foie gras and pate. My wife have the quail. Both app are delicious. My entree is the roasted lamb and honey pork. The lamb is delicious and cook in pink temperature. Meat is tender. The dessert is exquisite. I have raspberry shortbread with pistachio ice cream. It is Mmmmm delicious. My wife has the crisp dessert with chocolate and praline and mango sorbet. It is delicious too.

Yelp
Have to start out by saying that the food and service was great! But the ambiance lacked. Bright lights, no tablecloths, candles, music. Could have been a family restaurant. We were staying within a 4 minute walk and happened to pass by Le Clos de Amboise (hotel and restaurant) and wish we would have eaten there because it looked so warm and cozy and the menu looked spectacular. Sie la vie!

Yelp
Food was amazing and beautifully presented! However, the ambiance was a bit sterile, no music or anything. We were able to get a reservation via our hotel (definitely make a reservation!) who recommended this as good for pesca-vegetarians. They had some great seafood and veggie options. We ended up opting for the tasting menu. The desserts especially were absolutely amazing. They have a surprisingly extensive menu, considering the size, and it was translated to English.

Yelp
Beautiful local restaurant, food was delicious. Local produce, fresh ingredients and great food presentation. We loved it!

Yelp
This restaurant was a pleasant surprise! I expected a reasonable meal of reliable quality. Instead we got one full of creativity and perfect cooking techniques. I don't give out many 5 star ratings as I think they mean a place which has risen above expectations and schemed something special. My wife and I had one of the price fixe dinners of a starter, a main dish, and a fromage or dessert course. We were offered an amuse bouche (a little extra teaser from the chef) of a beer chiffon with a crispy piece of tissue-thin chorizo inserted like a sail into the creamy chiffon. The Pepto Bismol pink color was concerning, but the first taste quelled any concerns. For a starter I had a rabbit saddle stuffed with fois gras accompanied with lightly picked mushrooms and some arugula. The boned rabbit was formed into a tube around a small amount of fois gras, cooked (probably sous vide) the cooked and sliced. My wife had the goat cheese stuffed tomato's with were served in a bowl of cool tomato puree (sorry of like a gazpacho). This was accompanied by a large crispy piece of this sliced baguette. We both had fish for our main dish: I had the turbot and wife had the hake. The turbot came with an artful smear of sweet potato, cooked but still crispy vegetables, an absolutely perfectly cooked piece of fish, and for a surprising twist a coconut milk foam. Sounds like an unlikely combination, but it worked brilliantly. My wife's hake was served with crispy skin on a bed of seafood risotto. The risotto tasted of the sea in every bite from having been made with a seafood stock. There was a foam sauce filling the bowl that worked perfectly with the other ingredients. Some crispy vegetables also made an appearance on this dish. For dessert my wife had the delicious fig tart. Crispy pastry base, cooked food, over cream, and caramel sauce. I had the cheese platter. The brought out a cart with at least 25 cheers from which I got to choose three. Beer, wine by the bottle or glass, and aperitifs are available. Friendly service. The decor is nothing special, sorry of like the decorations were picked from a variety of unrelated attics. It is not bad, just not very cohesive. But you're not coming here for the atmosphere, you're coming for the food.

Yelp
We stayed at Chateau de Perreux outside of Amboise and the owner recommended this place, but said they had changed chefs recently. Looking at reviews here and on Trip Advisor, we decided to give it a shot. It was the end of a full day of Chateau sightseeing and we had just finished with Chateau du Clos Luce. So it was a little early - just a bit before 7 PM - for dinner when we got to L'Alliance (pronounced "lay ahnce", by the way!) :+) Although no one else was there, the hostess let us sit down, and very shortly they began to serve us. The hostess/server was very helpful with the menu even though they had an English one. We started with champagne. There was an amuse-bouche ( a small gratis "entree" or starter) which was very tasty. I ordered the 4 course meal and my wife the 3, and every course was wonderful. The service was great and the wine recommendation, from a wine list heavy but not totally centered on Loire Valley wines, was very nice. To be truthful, we were in France for 2 weeks and had very many wonderful meals, but recalling the specifics of each and the courses is a bit hard when you are eating out 3 meals a day. We were in the Amboise area 3 days and this was the best meal we had there, and I highly recommend it!

Yelp
Excellent food and service. The venue is not fancy but the food is what you come here for. Could not help going twice in a row. The Duck main course is superb! And the white asparagus w/c was in season when we went was so delicious. The next day, I had the prawn appetizer & the fish main course with a simple (but tasty) green salad.

Yelp
We had walked past this lovely restaurant several times and noticed the cozy and quiet courtyard. On our last night in Amboise we wanted a quiet meal away from the tourist hubbub of the castle so decided to try it. It was not particularly busy, and we sat outside on a beautiful evening. The restaurant was well decorated in a more modern but comfortable style. The menu is a bit pricier but with more sophisticated offerings. We did the 32 euro menu and substituted the cheese course for dessert, which I highly recommend that you do! Two amuse-Bouche were presented - basically two small free appetizers. We then had our menu items which were all delicious! The owners are also the chef and server, and the service and presentation were wonderful. If you are looking for great food, at a more quiet and romantic location, this is a great choice. And don't forget the cheese course!!

Yelp
Excellent small restaurant, although a little expensive. The wine, is delicious and well priced. The food is well presented. Would definitely recommend

Yelp
This is a wonderful place!!! Have visited twice and every time it was perfect. Menu selections are unique and even surprising, and the cheeses are... well, I'm speechless! Portions may seem small at the beginning, but by the time we had dessert, I almost wished it was a smaller portion:)

Yelp
We had an excellent dinner at this restaurant last night. The food was genuine, fresh, not overdone or overspiced. Even our 5 and 10 year old daughters, who can be picky eaters, said the food was "delicious".
