"There is a yellow house in New Orleans—a pretty pile in Marigny (French Quarter-adjacent) that is home to my favorite Airbnb: a pied-à-terre on the building’s second floor with two balconies, ceilings higher than heaven, and a wealth of period hardware and finishes so fabulously abundant you'll remember them forever."

|The positive.|The two women who checked us in - Carol and Gabby -were upbeat and so positive and welcoming. I really had high hopes because of them.|The courtyard is very inviting with a beautiful pool and fountain.|They have secure parking which is great!|The bed was comfortable and bedding was clean.|The negative.|Jay, the male employee who came on at 3 is an absolute nightmare. We couldn't get into the building to get our room key as he didn't answer the bell or the phone. Another guest happened to be leaving and let us in. Jay finally showed and gave us a key. We were in room 408 which is across the street behind the main building.|The room was large and has so much potential to be amazing. Floors that could be beautiful if refinished, a bathroom that is ok in size but the floor tiles are coming up due to a rotting floor.|The couch was stained and I refused to sit or put anything on it. The fireplace tile is broken and missing pieces.|Our sink was totally stopped up and would not drain at all. When talked to Jay at the front desk and asked for extra towels (they only give you two which is ridiculous), he stated he would "get them when he got around to it". Spoiler alert - he never got to it. This sink didn't get looked at either so bottled water was needed to brush teeth and we spit it out in the tub.|I will not stay again unless the property goes under some significant updates including a better way to get into the building for check in. |Again, the two women in the morning were amazing. Keep them at all costs!

Location is good. Extremely close to Frenchman and a 15 minute walk to Jackson square. There is nothing special about the service. They let us drop our bags early, but check in was very standard. The rooms are hit or miss. We had 3 couples in our group. 2 had very nice sized rooms but the tv remotes didn't work right in any of the rooms. My room was significantly smaller, and that's perfectly fine. But our lock didn't work and the bathroom had mildew. No a lot, but it was there.

After reading a number of 4 and 4.5 rated reviews and looking at the pics, we decided to stay at this hotel for 3 nights. It was so disappointing. Our reservation stated that we had a coffee maker in the room but there was not one. The bed was comfortable. the AC worked fine and the furniture in our room was in good shape. The staff were knowledgeable, helpful and nice. It's near the French Market and Bourbon St.|That is where the positive comments stop. |Our room and the public places are in dire need of repair and updating. There was over an inch of light coming in from under 1/2 of our room door. The curtains in our 1 main window were rigged together and there was no way to keep them open. There was mold in the shower. There was a place on the back of the bathroom door where there used to be a hook for towels but not anymore. There were numerous places that needed paint. The fence by the pool was leaning towards the pool. Some of the decorative outside shutters needed repair as did one of the columns by the main entrance. Numerous walls in the public areas, doors, tiles, needed fixing, painting or replacing. |On our arrival, it was surprising to find a very large room with only a desk in the middle for checking in and boxes around the desk of coffee pods. And if your picky about wanting your room cleaned every day, at Lamothe House it's only every other day.|We would never recommend this hotel nor stay there again.

If I could give this hotel 0 stars, I would. I booked this place, despite reading the negative reviews, to support a local hotel and be close to the action. I definitely should have listened to the reviews. From the moment we arrived, I knew this place was not going to be good. The rooms are disgusting, full of cracks, dirt, stains, and bugs. Not only that, but we discovered BED BUGS. When we went to the front desk, the guy said he was “the lowest level of employee” and was also clearly out of it. They did not have ANY replacement sheets and no room we could move to. Not only that but the front desk workers were literally telling me about how horrible their hotel is. I spent a solid hour trying to find a different hotel. As I went back to the room to pack, I saw a dead cockroach on the floor in the lobby hallway. When I told the front desk guy, he walked over, flipped it over, and said “oh he’s still alive.” Would NOT recommend this place and will definitely be reporting to the board of health.

Where to even start about this place? We booked a stay at Lamothe House and never received a confirmation email. We emailed to confirm the reservation and never received a response. Calls to Lamothe went to a voicemail box that was full. Calls to French Quarter Guest Houses, the parent company, were never answered. Calls to the other 3 hotels in the group were either never answered or went to voicemail boxes that were full. We decided that everything looked super sketch and decided to cancel our reservation, but could not because we could not reach anyone. Finally, we filed a claim with our credit card company to block the charge. In the meantime, I have made a slurry of phone calls to different agencies to try to report what very much looked like a fraud business: the Chamber of Commerce, the Tourism Board, the Louisiana Hotel Association, the Better Business Bureau, and finally the Attorney General's office. As an FYI, French Quarter Guest Houses are not members of the BBB, the CoC, the Hotel Association, OR the Tourism group, which.....doesn't look good. Honestly, everything about our dealings with this hotel has been frustrating and super sketchy. If you want to be absolutely guaranteed of having a room when you arrive, I'd book somewhere else.

The front desk staff are amazing!! They truly make you feel like you’re a guest in this majestic home!! The location is excellent- close enough to the nightlife of the quarter but far enough away from the noise. Very relaxing and tranquil. The only thing that made me feel very uncomfortable is the interaction I had over the weekend with the assistant manager. I noticed the gentleman having an odd behavior and shaking, I became concerned. After he assured me he was ok and just tired, I was immediately overpowered with the stench of alcohol on his breath and body. It was repulsive. And this was not a one time incident. I again crossed paths with him and when he tried to speak to me I was again blasted with the smell Being expelled from his body and breath. I’m aware this is New Orleans but how am I suppose to feel safe with the management is under the influence. This is not something a woman traveling alone should feel like ESPECIALLY when it’s someone who’s in a position of authority.

They do not service rooms there at ALL. We requested that housekeeping come the first morning because the floor in the room was filthy and the bathroom wasn’t that clean either. They didn’t come. Nor did they come the second morning, or the third. No coffee replenished, no fresh towels, no cleaning at all. We spoke to two different staff members about this and sent an email to management too. Both staff members assured us that our room would be cleaned. It never was, not once in four nights there. We spoke to two other couples at the hotel and they also reported that they never got their rooms serviced either. in fact, one couple said they had had a flood in their room during a bad rainstorm and had to mop up the water themselves with towels, no one from the hotel would help them.||||Beyond that, the place is generally run-down, and we were given a windowless bedroom (we requested quiet, not windowless) without being informed about that during booking, that we were unable to change because the place was full. The bed had a very old mattress, mangy old sheets, and lumpy pillows. We also had the smallest bathroom I’ve ever seen, with zero storage, no holder for toilet paper, a shower gel bottle that was completely empty when we got there, and a toilet that ran on and off all night. There was a swimming pool, that looked dirty, and a hot tub that was not even lukewarm.||||On our last night, we demanded fresh towels so we could shower and got them, also coffee pods. The concierge on duty swore that he would bring coffee pods to our room later that night. It never happened. We checked out early the next morning.||||The only good thing about this place is the location. ||||I understand that this used to be a great place to stay, but it’s one to avoid at present.

Our suite was incredible, but needed some tlc. Stains on the walls, the floors needed a good scrub, and the bathtub was stained and peeling. Super close to Jackson Square and the French market, so great location. The beds were very comfortable foam mattresses. It's not perfect, but I would stay there again for sure.
