Fun fact: a tall bike was used by people (lamplighters) to light lamps back in the day. So now the name and logo makes sense. Staff are always friendly and the coffee is delicious.

They make every cup with care and roast their own beans. Each employee has been trained to make the perfect cup. I always stop in when I get my car worked on at Mintz tires.

A very clean and cozy coffee shop that offers only pour overs for their brewed coffee which is great that way you get the best flavour of the beans. The espressos looked nice and the breve was on point although just slightly bitter. They also offer mill alternatives. I just wish they had more seating space as seating is limited

Great atmosphere and excellent coffee. The barista was happy to talk coffee and just chat generally. The turntable was a nice touch. My only qualm was that the venue could get a little crowded, but in this case there was a wedding party going on.

Great atmosphere and coffee. I had just arrived at the Greyhound bus station 10 minutes walk away and fittingly got the Thyme Traveler Latte was delicious. It's a cool little neighborhood to explore if you have a long layover.

Amazing coffee, industrial atmosphere, very clean, relaxing. Tasty assortment of baked goods as well. Truly a hidden gem, modern and alternative vibes perfect for college kids or a coffee enthusiast. Would give it more than five stars if I could.

Love this coffee shop! It is always so lively when you go! Everyone behind the counter is so friendly, and it has a feeling unlike other coffee shops in the city! The honey latte is so good and the Fontaine cheese croissant is delicious! There is plenty of seating and perfect for going with a friend or going to get some work done!

I love this little weird edge of Scott's Addition with its one way street and back-in parking. Seems like a dead end in the middle of nowhere (when you're right off Boulevard). A perfect place to hide. And this is where you'll find Afterglow. Stopped in to meet an associate for coffee (tea for me) and picked the Malabar--an herbal tonic blend of Chinese ginger, turmeric, lemongrass, black peppercorn, and licorice root. Add honey and yum! Cute presentation and lovely staff, all smiles. Was only there for the tea this time, but I hear there's light fare food, so I'll definitely come back to try that. Definitely give this co-op a try!

I recently visited Afterglow Coffee Shop in Scott's Addition and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The atmosphere is l cool with a modern-industrial vibe, and it was fascinating to see the coffee roasting equipment right there in the cafe. It added a unique touch and underscored their commitment to fresh, quality coffee. I ordered a cappuccino with oat milk, and it was delicious! The coffee was smooth and well-balanced, and the oat milk frothed perfectly. The staff was also friendly. One thing that really caught my eye was the cheese and charcuterie plate on the menu. It looked amazing, and I'm definitely planning to go back and try it next time. Overall, I highly recommend Afterglow Coffee Shop to anyone looking for a great cup of coffee, a cool atmosphere, and friendly service.

I LOVEEE afterglow coffee Co! My friend and I went after church one day. A super sweet, small, cozy coffee shop! They have milk alternatives. I got the Golden Milk Latte and it was delicious! It had turmeric but I could barely taste it. It was DELICIOUS. I also got an everything bagel with butter and jam! I for sure will be back

A coffee shop born of love for community and coffee. I love taking friends here for a little coffee date. Not too much in the way of pastries or food, if that's what you're looking for. Mostly, the vibes are lovely for conversation or working/studying in the zone. They are a roaster, so you're able to pick up blends and single origin coffee bags to grind at home. They also sell different brew methods as well. If I had to pick a coffee shop that encapsulated Richmond, it would be here. Also parking is fine most of the time but generally I humiliate myself trying to parallel park or turn around to fit into a diagonal street space lmao.

I love Afterglow's new after hours on Fridays and Saturdays. Afterglow Coffee is definitely one of my top local haunts. I adore the people who work here, I'm obsessed with the pandan matcha latte (also adore the mocha), and love that they're a co-op. When they added organic and natural wines to their shelves, I got even more excited. They'll host wine tastings and have a really great selection to pick from. I adore the natural lighting that spills into the space (especially during a tasting). On Friday, it's great to come here to work with a morning drink, then order a late lunch once the 2pm After Dark menu gets brought out. I tried their After Dark food menu recently and loved it. I had a very tasty nori kale caesar salad with yummy soy sauce eggs and a side of incredible bread and butter. It was a wholesome meal that made me beyond happy. I adore Afterglow and highly recommend it to anyone.

Had a nice time at Afterglow Coffee on a Sunday afternoon. There is ample street parking on the streets around, and the place is easy to find while walking. It's a larger place than it looks from the outside, and I was pleasantly surprised by the comfy booth tables along the wall. They played nice music at a good volume, and the baristas were really nice. I got a half caff vanilla latte and it was pretty solid; creamy and well balanced, but the coffee flavor was a little weaker than I prefer. I got it iced and it was served in what I thought was a small-ish portion. I did appreciate the "for here" option, bc I love getting my coffee is real dish-ware! They also have a gender neutral restroom, which is nice :)

Love the coffee bean aroma and the overall minimalist vibes! I've been to Afterglow before but never had their ice pandan matcha until I saw other Yelp reviews! I appreciated the good pandan flavors but their matcha was more an aftertaste than a prominent flavor. As someone who had a lot of pandan desserts growing up I was nervous the pandan would be too artificial or too sweet but the sweetness was appropriate and the flavors were more authentic than expected. Again I really like how spacious Afterglow is. It has a good amount of table seating, some bar seating by the back (plus you get to see them process their beans I think), and a cute nook in the back. Loved the greenery and plants. I can totally see myself getting some work done here or meeting with friends!

My new favorite coffee shop! Cool but unpretentious and perfectly balanced latte. I'm even going to purchase some of the art on the wall for a gift.

We got the iced pandan matcha latte w/ oat milk from a recommendation. It was so good. Balance of each flavor was present and not overwhelming. A perfect drink. The amount you get and the price point was just a $1.50 too much. I've never been to this area and surprisingly had a lot of other businesses around. The road kinda looks like an alley. They said they had ramp access in the back entrance. I really liked the look of the cafe. Warm with lots of plants. I bet it be really nice to be there on a rainy day.

I really enjoyed Afterglow Coffee! It's a cute little coffee shop in Scott's Addition. Inside it has a cool, modern vibe with rustic, homey touches. There are multiple tables available that are perfect for a coffee date. They have a fantastic cold brew as well as great selection of espresso, lattes, cappuccinos, and more. Plus all of the order ready super fast. If you're hungry, Afterglow offers some delicious looking bakery & pastry options that will certainly pair well with any coffee drink you choose. There are multiple parking options in the street. However, I do recommend going a bit earlier on a Saturday or Sunday morning to guarantee that you get a seat since it's quite popular those days. Definitely make sure that you do go, because I know that you'll enjoy!

Super cute coffee shop! We had vanilla lattes, chai latte, and a drip coffee. The servers were excellent and friendly. The parking is strange and something I've never seen before - it's a one way street but one side has slanted back in only street parking. Nice quiet neighborhood. We even purchased one of the prints decorating the wall.

They know how to make a cuppa... Too bad u was just driving through or else this would be my spot!

Spent the morning at Scott addition's Afterglow coffee roasters/ cafe Richmond's first worker-owned coffee roaster/cafe! Such a lovely spot with great artwork, great music, and a kind staff. I had their vanilla & VA honey iced latte and their hot sencha tea. A new neighborhood fav of mine

I've been to every local coffee shop in RVA and Afterglow is hands down my favorite. Delicious espresso, quality ingredients, cozy space and super lovely staff.

Overall, a 3.5/5 coffee experience, but will bump it to a 4/5 because of their cafe vision and values. Also, the cafe is super spacious with the abandon warehouse vibes and lots of plants (like your typical third-wave local coffee shop). The aesthetics here are pleasing to the eye and there is a good amount of seating to study/work or catch up with a friend. I came here on a Friday morning with a few friends and fortunately, we were able to gather around a small table to enjoy our coffees and catch up. The coffee menu was pretty standard (black coffee, espresso and some lattes) along with a couple of signature beverages. Unfortunately, I didn't see any pour overs (which is my go-to), so I decided to give one of their specialty lattes a try since that's not something I'm able to make at home! BLACK WALNUT MAPLE CAPPUCCINO - 5.50 I wish I knew there would be an additional charge for oat milk because I would have stuck with regular milk. The barista had asked me if I preferred regular milk or oat milk in my drink, so I had (wrongly) assumed that the pricing would be the same. In the future, I guess I'll ask before assuming, but I felt misled by the way they had posted the question. Additionally, because I like my lattes/capps strong, I asked for an extra shot (which I knew I would have to pay for). The total for my cappuccino was $8.51 after tax. Besides that complaint, the presentation of the cappuccino was beautiful and it's been awhile since I've seen latte art. I was hoping the drink would have a strong espresso flavor (given that I got an extra espresso shot, too) that would overpower the syrup. However, I felt like the maple syrup was the most prominent flavor of my drink and it was much too sweet for me. The espresso flavor was strong but there wasn't a lot of after taste. I liked the black walnut bitters! Overall, not my cup of cappuccino since it was too sweet and too expensive, but a few of my friends really enjoyed this sweet drink. If you have a sweet tooth, I can see this being your go-to drink! Next time when I'm in Richmond again, I'll try their cortado or cop a bag of beans.

Plenty of seating for folks who want to work or just hangout. I got the Kenya drip coffee, it was pretty good. They had half & half and oat milk. I also like a little bit of artificial sweetener but they only had regular sugar, honey and simple syrup (which wasn't a huge issue). The coffee was served in a small pouring vase and mug which was cute and appealing to the eye but practically wasn't great because the coffee easily got cold (next time I'll order it to go even if I'm staying). Me and my friend got the everything bagel bomb with chive cream cheese on the inside, it was sooo good. We left at 11:30 and all the baked goods were gone, make sure to visit early!

Flavorful. Complex. Smooth & Strong! (no bitterness). Their coffees are my new FAV! Love the Cappuccino and Cortado. Space is relaxing. Service is excellent.

By far the best coffee shop in RVA! Baristas are amazing, friendly, and so knowledgeable. The vibes are on point. I also love that they work with local bakers for their pastries. Huge fan of their lattes and seasonal cappuccino's. The space is so lovely filled with plants and just good energy. Great place to meet friends or work or even just hang out at the coffee bar and chat up the baristas. The regulars here are also so kind. I love their oat milk lattes so much! Check this place out for top notch drinks.

Fantastic little coffee shop in Scotts Addition! The food and coffee was absolutely delicious! And the staff was pleasant. Will definitely be going back!

I'm a tea drinker but came here to meet a friend and catch up. She enjoyed her coffee drink and I ordered a white tea which I loved. They have a small but mighty tea selection. I only gave it 4 stars because I wish they had more food options other than frozen burritos that they heat up. The burrito wasn't fully heated through so had to send it back for them to heat further. But the staff was friendly and I'd come back to try another tea or their chai and maybe one of the pastries in the case.

One of the top coffee shops in Richmond for sure-- cute place with great staff. I especially love their matcha which is served with a kind of leaf that makes for a unique, subtle and sophisticated flavor you have to try. I end up going through multiple orders of that haha. Love Afterglow!!

So glad they finally opened!! The Afterglow guys are so nice, I love talking coffee with them. If you ever want insight into the coffee world or the roasting process, they're super knowledgeable! Go have a chat!! I tried their day sipper, which is a fruit infused cold brew with some soda water. Fizzy coffee sounds really strange, but it's a popular item to have on a coffee shop menu! I loved it. The interior was so spacious and cute! I loved seeing the finished product of their cafe. It's in such a good spot too. Go check them out!!

Came here for the matcha after reading all the reviews, only to find out it was seasonal and they don't offer it anymore. I don't drink coffee so I can't speak to that but the guy who took my order must've been having a bad day because he was not friendly.

Great vibe inside! The coffee is great and the pandan matcha latte with oat milk is SO AMAZING! The prices are a little too high though.

Afterglow is my go-to spot to buy coffee beans. So far, my favorites are Perpetual Motion and Golden Hour, but everything they roast is top tier and fresh. For in cafe offerings, I really enjoy the espresso here. You can tell these are real baristas who take the extraction method seriously and they produce delicious shots. The inside cafe atmosphere is relaxed, inviting, and social. For me, this is the best coffee spot in RVA.

The service was quick. The people were very nice. The latte was barely warm, however, it was tasty.

Convenient location and street parking. The wait was not very long and the workers were very friendly. Went on a Saturday morning and it wasn't very crowded with plenty of tables to sit down at. The only thing I wish they had are perhaps some couches, so it would have a good balance. Perfect for a medium group if you push some tables together. The menu is very straight forward and not super complicated, so for a coffee novice like me it made it easy. I would definitely check this place out! It's in an awesome spot within a 5 minute ride from the museum and fan district of Richmond!
