Beautiful Island to be of you are looking for peace and calm holiday. If you like the island life and a seafood lover, this is the place.

Classic place, a must visit UNESCO Heritage. The wannabe local guide dosed with some drugs can be bothering but rest is 5 stars.

No place beats lamu if you are looking for a town with rich swahili culture and ancient history. This island reminds me of old town in Zanzibar. You can enjoy a really good walk along the old town in the narrow streets. It always feel like am in a maze. Boat rides are also available to visit Shela town about 2 or 3 kilometres away. Behind Shela town or adjacent the Majlis resort is beautiful beach area where one can enjoy beach activities. Lamu has great history and you can get more of those from a local tour guide if you fancy. I must come back!

Transport and good restaurants are a little expensive. If you are traveling on a budget, you can catch public boats to and from Shela at 100 shillings. Private boats go for 400 - 500 shillings. Lamu is a BEAUTIFUL TOWN! The people are genuinely nice and very hospitable. There's a lot of sun, sand, food and culture to experience. Can't wait to go back.

I love it I live it. World Heritage site. Islamic Swahili Cultural town. It is the oldest Swahili settlement in East Africa preserved its culture and its rank in importance for centuries. Many people are visiting Lamu to see what remained from its centuries' heritage. And to find opportunities in its expected developments; of mega port and gas exploration and power plants

One of the most beautiful islands I have ever been. It’s called the island of festivals including the Lamu yoga festival. The people are warm and inviting. Very safe and accommodating. Food is great. There are no cars on island you will need to ferry or take motorbike. It’s very cultured and you can experience the culture. Walk on island at the Shela beach. Sea is mostly calm. Fresh fish produce every morning. Flights from Nairobi and Wilson airport daily by 5H and east Africa

Lamu is simply heaven. Just an hours flight from Nairobi this island is like traveling back in time where there were no cars, narrow alleys, friendly people and so much more. From the old town square, museum, donkey sanctuary it’s a place to seek inspiration as a creative. Activities to do here are snorkeling, water sports, visiting the turtle site, walking through old town. The food is also great in most restaurants and street food bitings too.
