Island · Lanai City
"A tranquil Hawaiian island known for its luxury resorts and golf courses."
"Small and remote, this island is prized for an authentic Hawaiian feel and pronounced seclusion — reviewers describe it as feeling like a different world, reachable by about a one-hour boat ride back to more populated areas. The island’s isolation and intimate atmosphere attract visitors looking to unplug, experience local culture, and enjoy quiet, less-touristed beaches and landscapes." - Lila Harron Battis Lila Harron Battis Lila Harron Battis is a writer and editor. "You'll find these spa robes in the Four Seasons’ world-class hotels around the globe, from Lanai, Hawaii, to Bali and Costa Rica. Now, you can relax in one on your couch during your next evening of self care. The tailored robes are made of a thick, plush fabric, and feature the classic Four Seasons logo embroidered on the chest. The robe is a little pricey, but as Four Seasons regulars know, you’re getting what you pay for."
"We also took the ferry from Maui over to Lanai. We were there in a great hotel and everybody had a great time."
"This tiny, incredibly lush private island (it’s easily accessible by ferry or charter plane) is close enough to Maui to justify a daytrip, though we think it’s worthy of a weekend stay. As of right now, it’s home to two Four Seasons properties—the Manele Bay beach resort is fresh off a top-to-bottom refresh and the forest lodge is in the midst of one right now. There's a great Asian-inspired restaurant called Lana’I City Grille, and little else—though the island’s new owner, Oracle founder Larry Ellison, has big plans to reimagine it as a sustainable, 100% eco-friendly tourist destination, meaning now is a good time to go if you’re looking for a bit of peace and quiet.
