This place is so surreal. It's like your own mini desert but close to the ocean.
Make sure you hire boards from the local shop (you would've driven right past it, just look for signs.) It's not expensive, and two hours is ample time to be boarding there for first timers.
I can't emphasize enough, this is fun. Kids can do it, adults can do it. I saw people making a day out of it, setting up their tent and barbecue with the whole family. I saw 4 wheel drives try to make it up some of the bigger mounds and ATV's having fun driving along.
Some pro tips: wear your sunglasses, sand can get in your eye. Don't wear jeans, no one likes sandy jeans. Don't wear sneakers, maybe just flip flops, the same rule applies (sandy shoes). Wear light clothing, it's going to be hot. And have fun. Make sure you take pictures here, they'll come out exotic and amazing looking.
This experience was unlike any other and I had a blast. When you're done here, just go straight to the Lancelin beach, to rinse off all of the sand that would've gotten stuck to you.
