I return regularly to Lancemore Crossley as a solo traveler when I'm in Melbourne. Lots to commend regarding comfort, location, services, the artworks and atmosphere. ||It's easy to write glowingly when all going smoothly, but really indicative that I can write glowingly when all not going smoothly. I had a 7 night stay, and wow Melbourne was throwing all the chaos around. There was a major crime incident across town ending up in the Lancemore lobby, with a street full of police. Another night all guests were evacuated for a fire alarm. And the protests at Parliament impacted traffic all around us. All were circumstances obviously outside of the hotel's control, though the team were impeccable, acting promptly and in line with procedure to ensure the safety of all guests. ||These events did however impact my stay - my time, costs, and purposes of my trip to Melbourne. For me, heading to a significant event in the clothes I grabbed in the fire evacuation rather than the special outfit I had brought for the occasion obviously pales to insignificance if our hotel had indeed been burning, but none the less was a huge disappointment. Passing through a street filled with crime response police, totally wrecked my Tuesday appointment I had specifically traveled across the country for. ||For a boutique hotel that sends lovely personal messages before arrival, I would have liked to receive some communication.|After the crime incident something like, " You may or may not be aware an event happened at our hotel yesterday. Be mindful this has placed a lot of stress on our staff, so please be kind. We are proud of our staff's response, but remember they are hotel staff. If you were impacted by the events the State Gov has trauma response staff on the streets to provide support and information.... etc "|After the fire evacuation something like, " You may or may not be aware of the fire evacuation last night. We are proud of our staff's response to get all guests and staff out quickly and safely. We also thank guests for heeding the warnings and evacuating so promptly. Luckily this proved just a warning and the evacuation was over within a short time. We hope your Friday night in Melbourne wasn't impacted too much. Obviously this incident is outside of the hotel's control, but come have a coffee with us in the lobby if you need a little heart starter."||I'm home now, and the chaos is all just a dinner party story of the madness Melbourne was, as said, throwing around! I find with each retelling I am speaking so highly of the hotel and staff. That's the important bit, so THANK YOU!
