Landgate Bistro

Landgate Bistro is an unassuming treasure! From start to finish, the drinks and cuisine were outstanding. The succinct menu offers a small array of starters and mains, carefully chosen to reflect the seasonality of the ingredients. Our server was polite and knowledgeable although as the evening progressed, he was distracted by his closing duties. The bistro itself is quaint and inviting with warm lighting and a narrow and cozy dining room. I highly recommend Landgate Bistro! P.S. The Homemade focaccia was the best I’ve ever eaten! Indulgent, loaded with olive oil, tomatoes and sea salt!!

Awesome food, amazing service. A little pricey, but you pay for what you get. The dining area and bathrooms could take a little t.l.c. but did not detract from what was a special meal.

Brilliant. Food was gorgeous, including a surprise amuse bouche. The staff were friendly and attentive but gave us space. The place itself is lovely.

Lovely meal with great service. Some hits some misses on our choices but all dishes prepared with fresh ingredients imagination. The bon bouche of a cod cricketers on a romesco sauce was delicious. The starter of linguini with wild mushrooms excellent. The scallops and pork belly starter was very good if rather over generous. The cod with chicken peas was heavy. Spicy potato roll was crispy, spicy and again heavy. We finished with the quince pudding and ice cream which was delicious. A note for the excellent house cocktails, well worth it.

We came here to celebrate my partner’s birthday and were blown away by the fantastic quality and affordable price of the gourmet food. We both thoroughly enjoyed the starters and mains (I’d recommend the carbonara stater and lemon sole main), washed down with the cosmo special cocktail. A really delicious experience in Rye, would definitely recommend.

Outstanding food and lovely service. I think I chose well with the scallops to start which was actually a larger portion than I was expecting and then the venison which was absolutely delicious. My husband had the carbonara starter which he really enjoyed then the cod with squid ink risotto which he thought was good but not great. We were too full to have dessert and just had coffee which they do need to review as it really wasn't good. But not to take away from a fantastic meal overall.

Went there a few years back and so visited again for my wife's birthday and it was equally brilliant. Though checking the photos of then and now the bread serving has got smaller ... ahem ! Also rather than olive oil with balsamic vinegar in one pot, do it in two so you can judge how much of each, otherwise you end up with 90% olive oil! Apart from that tiny niggle, fantastic. Such a warm welcome when we arrived, was our wedding anniversary with friends, not tried the LANDGATE previously and definitely not disappointed. We had a comfortable table, the bread to die for, I mean marmite butter!!! Wow. We shared starters. Scallops and pork yum. I had sea bass, would choose lemon sole next time. The venison was melt in the mouth, just right. The desserts were out of this world, cheesecake soft and light. So friendly the serving team doing an amazing job!!

I don't really write many reviews, but when my fiance and I went on a two-week honeymoon to France and England, I had to come back and write a review about this great place! The food, atmosphere, people, etc. Everything was perfect. The week before, we had been to some very highly-rated restaurants in Paris, but this one was our favorite of every place we went to on our honeymoon. Thank you for providing such a great meal!
