Landgate Bistro

Brilliant. Food was gorgeous, including a surprise amuse bouche. The staff were friendly and attentive but gave us space. The place itself is lovely.

We came here to celebrate my partner’s birthday and were blown away by the fantastic quality and affordable price of the gourmet food. We both thoroughly enjoyed the starters and mains (I’d recommend the carbonara stater and lemon sole main), washed down with the cosmo special cocktail. A really delicious experience in Rye, would definitely recommend.

Went there a few years back and so visited again for my wife's birthday and it was equally brilliant. Though checking the photos of then and now the bread serving has got smaller ... ahem ! Also rather than olive oil with balsamic vinegar in one pot, do it in two so you can judge how much of each, otherwise you end up with 90% olive oil! Apart from that tiny niggle, fantastic. Exceptional menu and top quality. Little extras like the little fish canapé and home-made focaccia all add to the experience. It's a small restaurant with traditional service and ambiance, occasional delays between courses can be excused by the fantastic food and great value.

Such a warm welcome when we arrived, was our wedding anniversary with friends, not tried the LANDGATE previously and definitely not disappointed. We had a comfortable table, the bread to die for, I mean marmite butter!!! Wow. We shared starters. Scallops and pork yum. I had sea bass, would choose lemon sole next time. The venison was melt in the mouth, just right. The desserts were out of this world, cheesecake soft and light. So friendly the serving team doing an amazing job!!

Outstanding food and lovely service. I think I chose well with the scallops to start which was actually a larger portion than I was expecting and then the venison which was absolutely delicious. My husband had the carbonara starter which he really enjoyed then the cod with squid ink risotto which he thought was good but not great. We were too full to have dessert and just had coffee which they do need to review as it really wasn't good. But not to take away from a fantastic meal overall.

During our recent visit to Landgate Bistro in Rye, we were thoroughly impressed by the exceptional dining experience. The food was truly outstanding, showcasing the chef’s dedication to sourcing local ingredients and preparing them with flair. You could tell he has spent time in Rome as there was a clear Italian influence to some of the dishes. Each dish was a testament to the restaurant’s commitment to quality and taste. We really loved the lobster risoni and the carbonara. We actually ended up ordering a starter after our mains instead of a dessert as the food was so lovely. The ambiance of the bistro was both charming and inviting, providing a perfect setting for a memorable meal. The service was impeccable; the staff were attentive and friendly, making us feel genuinely welcomed. We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to our waitress, Caoimhe, whose warm and professional demeanor added a special touch to our evening. We highly recommend Landgate Bistro to anyone seeking a delightful culinary experience in Rye. We look forward to our next visit

An absolute gem! 5 star service from arrival, all the way through to leaving. We had a table for 4, 1 of which was vegetarian. Everyone agreed that everything from the presentation, quality of the food and the taste was exceptional. You could tell the team were really pleased to work and be there… this really reflected on the whole atmosphere being one of a happy place to be. Superb!

I don't really write many reviews, but when my fiance and I went on a two-week honeymoon to France and England, I had to come back and write a review about this great place! The food, atmosphere, people, etc. Everything was perfect. The week before, we had been to some very highly-rated restaurants in Paris, but this one was our favorite of every place we went to on our honeymoon. Thank you for providing such a great meal!
