"Specialty Coffee in Parap A favorite brew stop in the trendy Parap neighborhood, Laneway Specialty Coffee burst on to the scene in 2014 with a mission to enhance the flat coffee culture in Darwin. It seems the owners have been successful; the airy cafe draws a crowd every weekend, especially on Saturday mornings when the Parap Market assembles a block away. A spinoff in Winnellie, Besser Kitchen & Brew Bar, opened in 2016 with a similar exposed-brick look. The secret? Good coffee, good food and good service. The "bronuts" (brioche doughnuts) ain't bad either."

Laneway Coffee in Darwin is such a gem! The vibe here is super chill and welcoming, making it the perfect spot to relax. The coffee is absolutely on point—rich, smooth, and expertly made. I also loved their freshly squeezed juices, which are bursting with flavor. This week’s mix of passion fruit, coconut, mango, and apple was simply incredible—so fresh and delicious! Highly recommend for great coffee, amazing juices, and good vibes all around.

I’m here for trying their matcha. I ordered organic green tea matcha, it tastes really creamy. The ambience here is really lively. It feels like I’m not in Darwin haha. The greenery ambience lighten up the mood.

Great food, amazing coffee, and the best staff around. They’ve got the perfect ingredients for an unbeatable experience every time. Recommend the organic Hotcakes, they look and taste delicious.

Staff and atmosphere was fantastic and I would definitely come again. My iced latte was a little disappointing as I found the glass it was served in a strange shape. The iced latte was very strong and a dark colour as it needed more room in the glass to add more milk. A straw would have been nice too as I see they served these with all the other iced drinks but the shape of the glass doesn't really accommodate a straw well either.

Lovely Cafe with great coffee and fresh delicious food. We loved the brekkie burger and ham/cheese toastie, cappuccino and piccolo. 👏✔️ Try to find the little birds nest in the vine outside against the window...too cute.

Yelp
Amazing local coffee shop serving good coffee and great food. Well worth the stop before going to the Parap markets on Saturday. They even have doggo treats by the door for your puppies!

Yelp
Laneway Specialty Coffee is a welcome newcomer to Darwin's collection of cafés that remind me of Melbourne (born and raised, left at 26!) enough to make me a tad homesick. The mixture of pared back rustic and industrial elements with the fitout make the most of the café's space, windows, and corner location. You could quite easily mistake this for a neighbourhood cool spot in Melbourne's inner suburbia. It's definitely the kind of place you wish you could keep to yourself, but it's too good to stay secret. I have heard from various friends that it can get hectic to the point of requiring a waiting list, or willingness to be crammed amongst a row of diners along the window seats. However, the times that I have visited, I've been lucky enough to perch somewhere and not feel overly crowded. I hope that Laneway continue to be successful, but it is definitely a much more chilled experience when it isn't bursting with patrons. The coffee here is Campos, which hails from the east coast and has a wonderful reputation, and is also available in take home bags if you're so inclined. The macchiatos and cold brew coffees I've had here have been some of the best I've had in almost three years of living in the Territory. As for food, what Laneway might seem to lack in menu options they definitely make up for with quality and creativity. My standing breaky favourite is the shakshuka (Israeli baked eggs), and lunch kryptonite comes in the form of a wagyu burger. A selection of sweets is also available, some made on site and others from Alley Cats in town. Everything I've eaten here has arrived relatively quickly, well-presented, and packing good flavours. Take note, Darwin competitors: table service isn't that hard to offer and it makes a world of difference when it's friendly and tailored to the diner's needs. I think the only downside of this cafe is that it's super busy a lot of the time now that more people have discovered it... and if you give me a few more visits I'll have to start repeating orders on the menu. Hope to see some seasonal influence in the food available, or at least some good specials on the board in future to keep regulars on their toes! Updated to add: now open on Sundays (but closed on Tuesdays instead)! Hooray. :)

Yelp
The food was really nice. All the drinks were freshly made. Organic, and divine. The cafe was quite busy, but the waitress was polite and offered to phone when a table was free. She did exactly that, and also had the table ready to go with fresh water. I would definitely recommend. There is also an added benefit of the Saturday Parap markets on the weekend if you need to wait for a table.

Yelp
This is a great looking place and the food and coffee smells good! I'm loving the chunky industrial style with recycled timbers and exposed brick, hanging plants and a clean open vibe. I'm sure the staff are usually more switched on but there was an awkward wait as they chatted and wiped tables although we were signalling to order. Eventually I went to the counter and ordered and our waiter appeared baffled. The menu is groover snack style with smashed avocado and good vego options. We ordered the Wagyu beef burgers gluten free for $18, which is pretty good pricing for Darwin. It's awesome food! Great tasty home style parties with yum chutneys and sauces and cheddar on gf roll. The single origin Costa Rica Sangre de Torro is strong and intense and no horrid bitter back taste so well done barista. Now I'm looking at the cakes, a selection of healthy and creamy - I'm gonna make room!

Yelp
Just love it when, bumbling around like a tumbleweed in the desert, you find a gorgeous little place. Even better when you are doing marine biology work (as you do) and have a craving for breakfast and some coffee at 6am. Laneway is small, tucked away in The Middle of Nowhere, Darwin. Menu is small, but there is no need to add confusion to caffeine-deprived brains. Menu is pricy, but ok - had your modern Oz staple of smashed avocado on toast with a poached egg and feta. Yep, good, only one slice but it did well (for $18). Nice atmosphere and friendly, well organized staff. I will be there tomorrow, and probably the rest of the week.. Once you find good, no need to change it.

Yelp
Broke my cold drip coffee virginity here today and it was fantastic! I couldn't face a hot drink or a heavy iced coffee so went for the 3rd option. So smooth and easy to drink, with no bitterness that the hot extraction can cause.

Yelp
This is what happens when Darwin does something right! The Laneway Cafe ticks all of the boxes. It serves great coffee, the staff are really friendly and the decor is pleasing on the eye. The food has subtle flavours to change an ordinary bacon and eggs into a very satisfying dish (not that bacon and eggs could ever be dissatisfying). It doesn't seem to matter if you go on a Wednesday or a Saturday, this place is always busy. They still manage to find you a seat if you want it. There is even a large table that you kind of share with strangers which gives the place a welcoming feel about it. If it wasn't so busy I would spend all weekend in this cafe. Even though it is often packed, it's still worth making the trip. It's the type of place Parap should have more of. They really do good coffee (and gluten free muffins). Dammit, now I'm hungry and I'm supposed to be going to sleep. --------------- I am editing this review because the Laneway cafe has recently changed its eftpos policy. You now have to spend a minimum of $20 to use their eftpos. I feel that this is a bit extreme and in a semi cashless society, quite inconvenient. I had previously given four stars but have reduced it to three.

Yelp
This cafe is so refreshing! It's decor and aesthetics are organic and in vogue. The service was very friendly and the kind of cafe you want to go back to just for the 'friendliness'. My Latte was smooth and the organic sourdough toast with locally sourced condiments/preserves was delicious! They also use local and organic produce where possible. My only complaint is that it was very busy but given it was a Saturday and located near the Parap markets it was likely to be the case.

Yelp
Welcome addition to the darwin coffee scene. The coffee is great, food is good. The eftpos min is $20 which is crazy for a cafe with lots of small transactions. The decor is great but with almost all concrete and glass the acoustics are loud. Very loud. Plenty of staff to ensure good service, and all with friendly attitudes. Big tick. Suggest a rug under some of the seating to absorb some of the chatter, and maybe a lower eftpos min?

Yelp
Beautiful decor, the service is perfect: friendly, relaxed and professional. Our food came out quickly - we both had the smashed avo on toast. Beautifully presented and well balanced. I had the gluten free toast and it was soft, nutty and delicious. Anyone expecting Melbourne or Sydney quality coffee and food experience, this is the place!

Yelp
We visited quite early on a Monday morning and were quite surprised at the crowd, so this is clearly a popular spot. We ordered the shakshouka and the poached egg, smoked trout and potato galette; both dishes were well cooked and full of flavour, especially the shakshouka with its beautifully sweet peppers. To drink we had a vanilla milkshake and a chai latte, both of which, again, were beautiful. The only thing that stops me from giving it 5 stars was the service...the staff were friendly and efficient but we weren't greeted at the door and when we sat ourselves down at a table it hadn't been cleaned down, and then when we did have someone come to serve us, they didn't care to wipe the bench down. We then moved from the communal table to private table after we'd placed our order, and were then approached by another staff member who asked if we would like to see some menus. All in all the food is fantastic here and we plan to come back during our short stay in Darwin. Perhaps it's because we're used to breakfasts in the competitive Melbourne market, where service has to be at a pretty high standard, but we felt the staff could have been slightly more attentive-you can't just rely on your laurels!!

Yelp
Great food and pleasant wait staff. There menu has some of the basics but they also have some unique dishes. Def going again.

Yelp
Excellent. This place is a must for coffee lovers. Serving campos coffee with an interesting menu and great decor. The food was excellent. Very well presented (more on that below) and fresh. Service is excellent and there is enough staff, even on a Sunday to ensure you're not left waiting. Some things to note: it's hectic on Saturday because of the fabulous market taking place around it. The chef will not make any changes - even down to scrambled rather than poached eggs. A particular peeve of mine particularly when the very accommodating server explained it was about presentation. The excellent service, coffee and food means I'll be back.

Yelp
A wonderful cafe that was teeming with customers when we arrived. But they efficiently fit our family of 7 in only minutes. Wait staff brought out chalk boards and chalk for our kids to draw on, which entertained them until the food showed up. And wow - the food. I had the smashed avocado, egg, bacon on toast thing that is pretty well found in lots of cafes, but this one was very good. Most our family had the brioche french toast with berries which was simply outrageous! Happily my 8 year old couldn't finish his, so I got a good sampling. Very good coffees as well. Well worth going back for, especially in Darwin which seems to be a little poor when it comes to good restaurants (sorry - arrogant Sydney POV there!).

Yelp
On impulse, stopped for lunch with my wife. I had the Asian slow cooked beef sub, my wife had the BBQ pulled pork. The flat white coffee and the hot chocolate were both worth travelling for, let alone the lunch. Combined with the friendly and informative staff, we will definitely be back. Suggest the cold drip coffee also (as an after). Well worth travelling to from Palmerston, the address is in the GPS.

Yelp
If you have young children and you like coffee this is the place for you, they are very child friendly. It's really loud so you don't need to feel bad about your kids making even more noise. Often have to wait for a table but we don't mind at all.
