This is not the first time I've visited Langmeil winery, and I certainly hope it won't be the last! This place has a great rustic charm about it. Surrounded by the Northern end of the township of Tanunda on one side, and sweeping vines and the North Para river on the other, this family run vineyard and cellar door are an absolute must if you visit the Barossa Valley.
Check the website for a more detailed, professional rundown on the wines. I will just say that I enjoyed all of the wines we tasted, in particular the Orphan Bank Shiraz. The Freedom shiraz is not available for tasting - although if it were accidentally poured into one's glass, one could be forgiven for keeling over in joy. It is *allegedly* spectacular.
They have a great display around the cellar door with details of the past and present, and if you ask one of the lovely ladies behind the bar about the history of the place, I'm sure you'll get a great story (or two!), as we did. There is also some artwork up for sale, and the day we were there they had cheese boxes available for the famished traveler. The fireplace going on a cold-ish day is also a very enticing spot to relax and taste some of SA's best.
Please, visit Langmeil if you get a chance. It is well worth a look!
