Langtons Hotel Kilkenny

The room was nice, quiet and relaxed when we were there. Though there was visible signs it had been very busy. Staff were attentive and very pleasant. They gave us a extra table to add to our comfort. Ample tea and coffee available. One of our party was gluten intolerant. The gluten free option was nicely presented, but was not freshly made, it tasted as having a long shell life, the bread was ok. It was reasonably priced but i would rather pay more for freshly made treats with more flavours.

We celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary on Saturday night 15th November 2025 in Harry's Bar, Langton's Hotel, Kilkenny.|From our initial meeting with Aoghan, our contact in Langton's. We were looked after very well with all our requests.|We needed the room set for 26 people so everyone could view the video of our Wedding 50 years ago. Langton's have the facility for us to do that. |Harry's Bar was very welcoming. We had great privacy in the room. We were unaware of the other activities going on in the hotel. Langton's is a very busy place. |The meal was served promptly hot and lovely. |The staff were very attentive to us checking in on us to see if they could do anything more for us.|We got very good value for our money. The cleanliness was impeccable. |We recommend Langton's and in particular Harry's Bar for a family/smallish gathering/celebration.|We got great feedback from our guests. |All in all we had a perfect night in Harry's Bar, Langton's Kilkenny and thanks to Aoghan for pulling it together for us.

Ha! Sunday brunch = total disaster. Arrived 1230, menus thrown at us. 15 mins later needed to call staff to take order. Bloody Mary's never arrived, table set after 30 mins sitting. We ordered soup, now wouldn't you think it would be delivered quite fast? It's already made. We waited 50 mins and finally left to go to a very cute, speedy and professional service of a South American Cafe on the bridge which is highly recommended. Langton staff. Heads all over the place. Clearly no training provided or Managers present. Shameful. Definitely would not recommend.

I never knew Langtons existed until two of my friends got married there and my then fiancée and I fell in love with the hotel and as a venue it was amazing. Staying in the hotel as a guest was great, the service was top notch, price was affordable and the staff were so nice. I'm pretty sure at one point I got lost because the hotel is gigantic. Roll the clock forward and we booked with them for our wedding. Our meal tasting was great and being vegetarians the team worked with us to make sure our menu was top notch for everyone. I can confirm the veggie/vegan options are delicious, from our ceremony in the Set Theatre to our meal and dancing in the ballroom, it was a magical day. I can not express how easy and stress free the whole lead up to our wedding was, Sean and Louise took care of anything and everything for us. They take pride in the work they do and it showed on our wedding day, the whole day went so smoothly. We had the best day of our lives in Langtons it was perfect and I can not recommend it enough. You will not be disappointed.

WORST SERVICE EVER if you are hoping in actually eating I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. I arrived to what I thought would be a lovely breakfast this Sunday, but I would call it rather a staff hunt. We ordered our food and were left waiting 45 minutes before anything happened… 5 friends including myself ordered yet only four of us received food after just under an hour. We notified staff about our “missing “the works” fry” but it seems the staff must’ve been searching Kilkenny town for a pig to slaughter for the sausages. We were told to sit patient and “it will be out in a minute” an apple juice was also ordered and took 1 hour and seemingly three staff to pour it from the carton. To add to the case one member of staff was making a weak attempt at cleaning tables and decided to come back every five to ten minutes to pick up ONE UTENSIL each time either she wanted to get a good step count or staff were afraid of customers entering and attempting to order food. After a long awaited hour we decided to look for a member of staff to pay for what we had received yet it seemed everyone was playing a large game of invisible. The staff must’ve all clocked off at the same time as the restaurant and hotel was deserted. Hopefilyk they were all in the kitchen tirelessly trying to make the missing fry we never received.. after 3 laps of the hotel we entered a room where we found a cleaner who directed us to the “manager” unfortunately the swan in the river outside would’ve conducted a better excuse for this appalling hospitality and she ran away mid conversation so avoid confrontation. We left utterly shocked disappointed and hungry. Please for your own sake don’t bother eating here unless your ordering a day in advance :) Apologies 0 stars wasn’t an option so 1 was given !

I organised a family celebration in Langton's recently. The ages ranged from 60 years to 8 years old. The staff were so mannerly, helpful and efficient. Nothing was a bother to them. They made us feel very welcome. We ordered a variety of options from both the main course and desert menus. All were very happy with their choices. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.

Wonderful Restaurant in Kilkenny! I had a really great experience here — the food was delicious, freshly prepared, and full of flavour. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. The atmosphere was warm and cozy, perfect for both family meals and casual dining. Definitely one of the best spots to eat in Kilkenny. Highly recommended! 👌🍽️

This is probably my favourite hotel in Ireland, never mind Kilkenny!. I've been here many times and it never disappoints. However, there is one thing missing in the beautiful room we had. That is a mini fridge, they used to have them before COVID, but they took them out and never put them back. That's my only gripe as this hotel is a wonderful experience, food was beautiful, especially breakfast. Henry looked after us so well, he was very efficient and friendly, and nothing was a problem. I would always recommend this hotel.

After our guide recommended the Langton House Hotel in Kilkenny for lunch, my bestie and I were excited to see what the fuss was all about. As soon as we walked in, we could see why. It's absolutely beautiful. The hotel has a pretty vintage, but well-maintained, romantic antiquity to it. There was a bridal party happening when we arrived which I think added to the romanticism but it was still really pleasant. The restaurant and bar are conjoined, so there's plenty of table and bar seating all the way around. My friend and I shared the croquettes to start which were just okay, but then I ordered a broccoli and mushroom soup and the Stuffed Chicken entree. The soup was delicious and the entree came with caramelized onions and mashed potatoes, plus a side salad. The entree was absolutely delicious. I can honestly say this was one of my favorite dishes in my whole Ireland trip. I left the Langton House more than satisfied.

Terrible! First of all our waitress was VERY curt and down right rude. I understand that they don't expect a tip but her attitude was beyond. She seated our group in a section that was reserved for a group at 6:30. We were seated at 5:45! I had to walk to the bar to ask for a second glass of wine. We never saw our waitress again after the main course. I asked for a dessert menu and a waiter I had never seen before came over and dumped the menus on the table. Then the manager came over to our table and asked if we could MOVE to another section because a reserved party was coming! At that point the dessert that was supposed to be included in my meal was not to be had. We paid the bill, told the manager our issues (he did take the first round of drinks off the bill) and then left. TERRIBLE!

I am talking about the restaurant. We were here for early bird special which lasted until 7:30. We were seated at 7:28 and they gave us that menu... pretty nice. It was $20 for main course with either appetizer or dessert. I had the homemade root vegetable soup which was OK but they gave me a slice of, very good, gluten free toast with butter. I had "Tings farm Kilkenny range roast chicken supreme" with roast shallots, balsamic glazed carrots & potato purée. The chicken was excellent but carrots were too sweet with the balsamic glaze. There were a lot of mashed potatoes. My husband had a pizza and it was OK - not bad, not great. For dessert he had Profiteroles filled with cream with hot chocolate sauce (cram puffs). Those were amazing. There is generally music later but tonight they'd have a DJ and at 9:00 it hadn't started. The best part was sitting next to a mom and her son discussing a play off game hurling. Seats are close so it's not to get to talk to some people from town.

Set in the heart of Kilkenny's town centre, this place is not to be missed. It's a successful blend of the best of old and new - funky finish and furnishings in a traditional building. And it's HUGE! you'll keep finding new sections and areas, including an enormous room/dancing place out the back. You'll want to check out the bar and restaurant downatairs also: the food is always excellent, the cocktails are always potent. If you're staying there, you'll be glad you won't have too far to stumble after knocking some of those back. Parking on-site also, which is a huge plus for a city-centre watering hole. Enjoy.
