Yelp
First time visit after hearing the praises of Lanhydrock from my daughter for about 10 years. AND....not at all disappointed. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour, which took us about 2 hours. After this, we enjoyed the gardens upper/lower. Well laid out. The car park is approx 15-20 minute walk, mostly downhill, which means you've got an uphill struggle to get back. There is a "mini" taxi type service costing £1 per head each way, (well worth it), to the House. Car park charge to non-members is £3.00 all day, which is pretty good. The house is in good repair, and the history is very well recorded. Beware the Cafe.......as with most NT establishments it is franchised, extortionate and not good value for money....especially for eating and drinking in a shed...!! That aside, you will have a lovely day...

Yelp
Loved the history and the settings between the staff and the owners. Creaky creaky floorboards. The great library with its ceiling is impressive Huge grounds topiary is very exact well done ground staff. Very moving was the WW1 exhibit in the gate house with the condolence letters Love asking the museum staff questions they are very knowledgeable

Yelp
Lanhydrock is a country house and garden situated in the beautiful cornish countryside. You approach the house from a private drive and park on the edge of the estate. If you have difficulty walking you can be dropped off at the house entrance as it is probably a quarter of a mile from the main car park to the actual house and gardens. When I visited there was a vintage car, taking people between the main entrance and gardens. There was however, a small charge for this. You can pay for the house and gardens, or the gardens only. Both are worth a visit, although the gardens weren't as good as I had expected - I had previously visited the National Trust Trelissick gardens, which were great and set a high standard. There is also a small cafe on site providing refreshments, snack and ice creams. Definitely worth a trip if you are into country homes, british history, and beautiful countryside.

Yelp
Of all the National Trust properties I have visited, this has to be one of my favorites and every time I find myself in Cornwall I just have to pay a visit. Lanhydrock is the perfect country house and estate, with the feel of a wealthy but unpretentious family home, which was built on the back of the Cornish Mineral industry wealth. You follow in the footsteps of generations of the Robartes family, walking in the 17th-century Long Gallery among the rare book collection under the remarkable plasterwork ceiling which is truly amazing. The house boasts the best in latter day country-house design and planning. The kitchens, nurseries and servants' quarters offer a thrilling glimpse into life 'below stairs', while the spacious dining room and bedrooms are truly and deeply elegant. The adjacent church is still used to this day an we had the pleasure of witnessing a wedding there on one occasion.

Yelp
Lanhydrock is a large country house in Cornwall owned by the National Trust. Most of the building and all of the grounds I believe are open to the public. There are some beautiful gardens which are well maintained around the building. Each of the rooms are decorated as they were when Lanhydrock was in it's prime a few centuries ago. As in most National Trust houses there are very knowledgeable guides in each room to answer questions. There are regular events which are often family based which can be enjoyable. I would recommend Lanhydrock if you want to find out about Britain's history or if you want to see a beautiful country house.

Yelp
A very special place with a definite splash of magic! Very handy to get to being close to the A30. Beautiful gardens - especially so at magnolia time when the blossom is spectacular. Lots of nooks and crannies to discover and parkland for longer walks. A good set of tea rooms offering the usual fare at reasonable prices. Plenty of outside seating when the weather is good. Lovely manicured lawns. An interesting and accessible house. Lots of events including those very suited to children. And the big bonus for them is they get to enjoy a ride in a fabulous old car back up the hill when we've finished getting our dose of fresh air and culture!

Yelp
I've visited Lanhydrock many times. Its by no means the largest of stately homes and that is part of its appeal, you can actually really imagine the Robartes family living here, it is a large family home. The other particular strength of Lanhydrock is the 'behind the scenes' rooms. You see here where the servants worked and lived. The kitchen area is fascinating with all the seperate larders and storerooms for meat, fish, dairy, dry goods. Upstairs you can see a servants bedroom and the livery rooms and even where the chamber pots would be emptied and its this 'upstairs, downstairs' contrast that makes Lanhydrock so interesting. The gardens are beautiful and there are very nice tea rooms and ice creams on sale.

Yelp
Great place to visit. There was so much to see here. Lots of very intersting information about the children that they took in during the war days. Lovely gardens and lovely rooms all decorated beautifully. This is a fabulous day out - especially if the weather is not so good. A really lovely country hous and well worth a look.
