This was our favorite hotel in three weeks of traveling to various points in Northern Laos. Charming old house set back from the main road, making it a quiet oasis, yet easily accessible to the sites and many restaurants. The grounds were well kept and it was lovely to sit in the courtyard among all the greenery and the fish pond. Also many artifacts and unique decor inside and out. Breakfast was nice with crusty bread/butter/jam, made-to-order eggs, plentiful fruit, strong coffee and fresh lemon juice. Room was sizeable and a great value. The staff also stored an extra bag for me for 3 weeks, no problem.

My husband and I stayed here for one night and really enjoyed our stay. The manager was very friendly and helped us a lot when our pre-arranged driver did not arrive in the morning as planned. We were very grateful for his care and kindness. 🙏🙏. The old French colonial home is charming and the breakfast in the garden was delicious.

I stayed at Lanis by the Pond as a solo traveller. Very convenient location a few mins walk from the food night market, Hard Rock Cafe for live music, etc. This is a little haven in the city, next to a wat and surrounded by greenery. Breakfast on the terrace was calming with generous portions of eggs, fruit, warm fresh bread and a cafetière of coffee. My room was large, clean, good aircon, a generous number of water bottles. Just need to bring your own toiletries, soap provided only which was fine. Would recommend this place for the location, generous breakfast, good sized and comfortable rooms for a very good price.

Convenient location, yet peaceful, spacious, well-decorated with wooden furniture and comfortable. Breakfast was good too! Staff are friendly and helpful, able to speak in English. There’s a local night market with many food stalls, and a supermarket selling a wide range of items just in the street behind. Stayed for 1 night in Mango room with my family.

Pro: Nice room with lovely balcony on the upper floor. Staffs are friendly. Good breakfast. Walking distance to many old town attractions.||Con: Many mosquito in the room. The guesthouse is located next to a night food market. Very loud music at night. Difficult to sleep.

Only stayed one night in Vientiane, and lanis house fulfilled everything we needed. The room was large and clean. The staff were very kind to allow us to check in early as we were super exhausted from our early flight from Thailand.

Staying here was lovely! The building and rooms are gorgeous and huge. The breakfast is delicious. Location couldn’t be better. The family who runs the place is cute, especially the front desk guy who was very nice and helpful - when I had a problem with an ATM nearby keeping my card, he tried to call the bank for me. I can understand some people in the reviews saying it’s expensive - sure you can find cheaper hotels in Vientiane. But how many of them are in old, historic buildings with character? Staying in this hotel made me feel transported back in time ❤️
