Quaint is the exact word for this charming house. An old 2 floors building with no more than a dozen rooms. Large green garden. If you are looking for an affordable quiet, peaceful place right at the heart of Vientiane, you will love this house. Another plus is the helpfulness of the staffs, language maybe a small barrier, but they overcome it with their hearts.

Lani's House by the Ponds is a peaceful boutique hotel located on Setthathirat Road in central Vientiane, just a short walk from the Mekong Riverbank and nearby temples. The property is surrounded by a lush garden with many trees, providing a calm and green atmosphere in the city. We stayed 3 nights in an upper-floor room with a large balcony, which was comfortable and equipped with air conditioning, ceiling fans, and Wi-Fi, though there is no TV, electric kettle, minibar, or other entertainment. Room rate was 80 USD per night. The hotel is run by only one receptionist and his wife, so service can feel limited. Professionalism could be improved, and cleanliness could be better maintained. Breakfast is included, consisting of bread, eggs, fresh fruit, tea, coffee, and lime juice, but there is no other food or beverage service, and there is no pool, gym, or additional entertainment. Payment was a bit inconvenient — they could not accept BCEL QR, so we finally paid via bank transfer. They do accept cash and cards. Overall, Lani's House by the Ponds is a quiet and green retreat in the heart of Vientiane, ideal for travelers looking for a short, peaceful stay.

The pictures of the hotel were nowhere near 'real' it was old, musty and very much 'not cared for enough'. The hot water system didn't work, and no phone to contact the one person on reception! The fan switch was one speed only and no tea or coffee facilities were present, I had to ask for a kettle! But, bed was comfortable and linen clean. It was just I'd say ' past it's day'

location unbeatable to night market and food night market. temples and uxo museum are also nearby. room is spacious, leafy surroundings, reliable wifi. ample breakfast, and great staff.

Unfortunately we were disappointed with our stay and left after one night. While it might have been a charming place a few years ago, it is a sad place now. More of a 2-star guesthouse than the hotel we paid quite a lot for. We felt a little deceived by the price, photos and reviews.

The location is perfect. The breakfast was very good. The rooms are large. The staff is very helpful and professional. It's a hidden gem.

This was our favorite hotel in three weeks of traveling to various points in Northern Laos. Charming old house set back from the main road, making it a quiet oasis, yet easily accessible to the sites and many restaurants. The grounds were well kept and it was lovely to sit in the courtyard among all the greenery and the fish pond. Also many artifacts and unique decor inside and out. Breakfast was nice with crusty bread/butter/jam, made-to-order eggs, plentiful fruit, strong coffee and fresh lemon juice. Room was sizeable and a great value. The staff also stored an extra bag for me for 3 weeks, no problem.

I stayed at Lanis by the Pond as a solo traveller. Very convenient location a few mins walk from the food night market, Hard Rock Cafe for live music, etc. This is a little haven in the city, next to a wat and surrounded by greenery. Breakfast on the terrace was calming with generous portions of eggs, fruit, warm fresh bread and a cafetière of coffee. My room was large, clean, good aircon, a generous number of water bottles. Just need to bring your own toiletries, soap provided only which was fine. Would recommend this place for the location, generous breakfast, good sized and comfortable rooms for a very good price.
