Had dinner here twice while we were in Barcelona. Fantastic meals all around. The sopprasada honey flat bread was one of the best dishes I’ve ever had. Service was impeccable. You should visit this place if you’re in Barcelona.

Google
We were looking for a place that had Catalan dishes and wasn't part of some chain or tourist trap. This mom & pop checked off every box. Not only was our food incredible but so were the people and the service. The owner was patient when I explained I am working on my Castellano. We started out strongly with several little bites and ended with a crema catalana. I truly enjoyed our last dinner out in Barcelona, this was a special treat.

My partner and I ate at the restaurant for dinner. The atmosphere was spacious and relaxing, and we were grateful for the food recommendations. We ordered one flatbread dish each, along with olives and bread and tomato. The bread was all clearly freshly made and very delicious.

Google
A beautiful hidden gem in the gothic quarter of Barcelona. The food was fantastic!!! Didn’t feel rushed as we were drinking our bottle of wine and enjoying the food. Highly recommend if you’re looking for something quiet and off the beaten path.

Google
Stumbled across this very lovely place which is housed in a construction that dates back 2000 years (a very kind passerby historian explained this ). Let's just say it is a place that lasts for good reason. Welcoming service, very kind and helpful. The food was lovely, we (two people) shared two starters and two mains and were struggling to fit any dessert. I recommend this for the experience of laid-back, sophisticated soul-food dining, inspired by Catalan's full bodied flavours. Give it a chance, you won't regret it.

Google
Beautiful location and beautiful restaurant with some fabulous food. We wanted to make sure we tried some Catalan dishes while we were in Barcelona and this was the perfect spot. Everything we ordered was incredible! Easily one of my favorite meals of the trip.

Google
This is a true gem! Good quality and delicious food served in a nice atmosphere. The service was fast, attentive and helpful in regards to choosing the right wine. Any time again!

Yelp
From the amazing service to great food and wine- this restaurant is a must when in BCN. The ambiance was so special. We found this gem this trip and came back two times. Really a special place.

Yelp
The cutest most quaint restaurant with great food and drinks to boot! It's located within one of the many corridors of the Gothic Quarter (LOVE this neighborhood btw) and is so rustic, elegant, and cozy. I really loved the ambiance. The food was good - the menu is heavy on coca de recapte, which is a type of flatbread specific to the Catalan region. We tried 3 (it was a ton of food) and they were all good in their own way. I liked that they were all very different in taste from one another. We also had the pan con tomate and burrata. Both were delicious. For dessert we had the sorbet and apple pie. The apple pie was extremely buttery, but the sorbet was decent. The service was good too. Great spot if you're in the Gothic Quarter!

Yelp
Food was so-so. Not a to. Of choices. Drinks were tasty and the service was average. Probably wouldn't come back but it was worth a try.

Yelp
Loved the food After arriving yesterday to Barcelona and getting checked into our hotel, it was time for dinner. Well, time for tourist dinner, we eat earlier than the locals. That worked out well for us, we got in around opening time without a reservation and because it wasn't busy, received lots of friendly assistance as we figured out what to order. It turned out we ate quite well, my wife did a wonderful job selecting a restaurant. Our meal started with olives, I love olives. We moved on to a plate of sliced sausages, three different types, plus shaved ham. All were flavorful and left me wanting more. It was our first time to have bread with tomato and we learned that made a nice combination. For our entree we split an order of flatbread topped with ham and figs. The flatbread was a little thicker and doughier than what I've had in the US, making the flatbread more noticeable instead of just being a big cracker for piling on toppings. The toppings added on our square of flatbread were very good. Love dates. After our entree we checked out what they offered for dessert, and we chose very well. Similar to Creme Brulee, our dessert had a layer of melted and solidified sugar with delicious custard underneath, large enough for two. My favorite part? All of it.

Yelp
The food was amazing at a reasonable price. The food is perfect for sharing in large groups and excellent crema catalan

Yelp
Walking down the Barcelona alleyways and we stumbled into this place. We were actually going to another restaurant and as we walked by we stopped because of how good the smell was from this restaurant. We proceeded to the original place and they had no space for us so we returned here. It was incredible!!! The atmosphere. The price. The Quality. It was spot on! I highly recommend trying it. Everything we tried was good. The sausage appetizers the humus the carpaccio the pizzas. Try it all!!!

Yelp
Phenomenal gluten free--Drool in your mouth kind of food! Reasonable corkage fee and a wonderful atmosphere. Will definitely be back next time I'm in Barcelona!

Yelp
The cutest, most romantic, and delicious restaurant ever. Totally off the beaten path and tucked away in the streets of the Gothic quarters. Absolutely recommend. Wish I took a picture of the salad with goat cheese and honey because it was beautiful!

Denise L.

Yelp
Incredible food with friendly service in a beautiful setting. The warm goat cheese salad and Iberico ham were truly memorable. Congrats on 30 years in business and gracias.

Yelp
Very good food and service. Tomato bread was delish. I also ordered a salad and a yummy Catalan dish. The Catalan dessert was also really good.

Yelp
The space is very romantic with high vaulted ceilings, exposed brick walls, cozy tables and sexy lighting. The service is really good. The food is just okay. We ordered a bottle of wine chorizo, tomato bread, arugula-chicken salsa and the eggplant and meat flatbread. The food was good but not good enough. Would I come back here? Probably not. Do I think you should? Definitely, it's a great place, give them a try!

Yelp
The food was delicious and it was hands-down the best service I've received at any restaurant in Barcelona. I highly recommend. While I dined alone, the space appears to be great for groups.

Yelp
Awesomeness! Especially for those that need less gluten in their bellies. We arrived 20 minutes late after getting lost. We were told that our table was given away 30 seconds prior. Needless to say we were bummed out but they accommodated us with a table that wasn't as desirable as the rest and grateful we became! The staff was awesome and attentive. The food was delicious and my wife was resting easy and happy because she wasn't worried about gluten. We will be back for sure!

Yelp
Beautiful Roman wall interior with dope art from a nearby gallery. Food was delicious and simple, hearty salads and nicely balanced mains, which are kind of like flat breads. Tasty dessert and wine recs, would bring anyone here for a nice meal.

Yelp
The food was amazing and the atmosphere of the restaurant was wonderful. We really enjoyed everything we ordered and would come again next time we're in Barcelona. Making a reservation is a good idea.

Yelp
We took an 8-day trip to Paris and Barcelona. This was my favorite meal of the entire trip. The restaurant is a charming, candle-lit, rustic elegant kind of atmosphere. The server was lovely. And the food was outstanding! I had a coque (flatbread pizza) with arugula, walnuts and camembert cheese and it was heavenly. The best restaurant we tried in Barcelona, hands down! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Amazing!!! Beautiful and exquisite food!! Local, fresh, deliciousness! Hummus and pita bread, the olives, salsa, sangria, Catalina pizzas! Amazing!! Thank you!

Yelp
Hands down the best meal I had while on vacation in Barcelona and probably one of the better meals I've ever had. The restaurant is tucked away one one of the small streets in the Gothic district of Barcelona. The menu is simple, in English, AND there is gluten free bread available. The star of the show are the little pizzas called coques. Highly recommend getting the traditional escalavida (sp?) as a topping and then there are other choices you can make in terms of cheese, sausage, etc. This thing was phenomenal and I wanted to order a second one. My wife had the gluten free version and was equally as impressed - the crust was perfectly crispy. We started with the traditional tomato bread, which the waiter kindly offered to split into half normal, half gluten free. The bread was amazingly crusty, but the toppings were a bit salty. If you're on vacation don't miss this place, especially if you're a celiac and looking for some gluten free options.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic, cozy, beautiful and romantic spot and the service was great! The staff was extremely helpful and patient and were great helping our 10 year old figure out what he would and wouldn't like. We had the meat plate to start, goat cheese salad and the Coques were lovely, so many favors but fresh and simple as well. They even have a gluten free version. Wish we could eat here every night!

Yelp
Excellent food, friendly staff. Located in the heart of Barcelona, it provides a cozy atmosphere ideal for quiet dinners.

Yelp
I am glad they have glutenfree pizza, the topping was great but the bread was not fresh,it was a frozen pizza crust from the shop. It was hard and dry. But better than no pizza of course. :) The normal pizza was amazing though, at least that's what my friend said.
google avatar

Yelp
This place has a tiny menu essentially consisting of salads and traditional catalan pizzas called coques. But everything is very good, and the staff is very nice. It's in a beautiful old place in the gothic quarter that shares one wall with the Torre Romana, a 4th century remnant of the old city wall of the roman colony that was here before Barcelona was Barcelona. Everyone should have the coque with cod here at least one time before they die. It was fantastic. Also on the must-order list is the mel i mato--a traditional catalan dessert consisting of very fresh goat cheese (mato) with walnuts, pine nuts, and honey (mel). In addition to being delicious, it is also fun to say. "mellymatto!"

Yelp
My husband and I visited Barcelona a few weeks ago. I have an allergy to gluten, so we ensured that we made a few gluten-free friendly restaurant reservations. L'Antic Bocoi Del Gòtic is a MUST regardless of food allergies. Their food is incredibly fresh and ridiculously good! In fact, we loved it so much, that we returned a few nights later for a second visit. They have a gluten free pizza option that is the best gluten free pizza I've ever had (including state side AND in Italy)! The restaurant is small and intimate, so definitely ensure that you have a reservation. If not, it's always worth stopping in to see if they've had any cancellations. That worked in our favor on our second visit. To the owners of L'Antic Bocoi Del Gòtic - thank you for your warm hospitality. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
We were a group of three who went here for a dinner. Neither of us were very hungry but we had to eat something. Their specialty is something called coques de recapte which is something similar to a pizza but without tomato sauce and a little bit crunchier bread. Me and my mothers tasted good but nothing special and my brothers was a little blend. So I would not go here for the excellent food. But the service was great, and both the wine and sangria was good. So if you just want a quick bite to eat I would recommend this place. We also had desserts which were more or less good. I.e everything was good but nothing was amazing.

J C.

Yelp
One of the best meals I've ever had! We arrived at around 10:30 PM and although it was packed, we were seated immediately. The service was great and I had the best sangrias in all of Barcelona here. The coques are delicious, you cant go wrong with any of them. There were 4 of us and we all got different ones to share and we can't decide which one is better. You MUST try their ice cream! Its better than any gelato I've ever had! Super cute, cozy and romantic ambiance, too. Love it and can't wait to go back!

Yelp
This was by far my most favorite place to eat in Barcelona! It was a small, out of the way place, recommended by our hotel (Hotel Neri, also excellent!). The owners are a husband and wife team, and the wife is down to earth and friendly. She explained the whole menu (a small, but delicious combination of foods) and even told my husband he ordered too much! Since he wanted to try a variety of items, she totally customized the order so he could have smaller portions of several items. The menu had the more traditional Catalan dishes, which appealed to my husband, and a more modern menu for me, as I was not a huge fan of the former. The main dish is a croque, which is basically a Catalan pizza -- flatbread with several choices of toppings. It was both beautiful (I am not a Facebook or Instagram poster, but I did take a picture it was so gorgeous!) and delicious. I highly recommend!

Yelp
Light flatbread like dinner with ham, arugula, tomato and mozzarella. Red wine was smooth. Servers were happy and helpful - able to act as a photographer and as an English translator. Cool spot. Vegan friend also found several options to fit their needs.

Yelp
Wandering around the medieval streets of Barri Gòtic in Barcelona, it's hard to imagine a world beyond the amazing array of antique buildings, pocket-sized shops and charming restaurants. If you take the time to lose yourself in the fantastic gothic quarter you just might find a diamond in a pile of gems. One such jewel is a flawless Catalan restaurant called L'Antic Bocoi del Gòtic. Their menu doesn't boast a myriad of options but what they lack in selection they make up for with a delicate attention to gastronomic detail and a fair amount of personal service; simply put their cuisine is fabulous. One of their flagship meals, coques de recapte, is a traditional recipe that you could describe as the Catalan alternative to pizza. Though the established ingredients, salted cod, eggplant, and raw sausage, are always on the menu, they do take some creative liberties, building these dishes with such ingredients as arugula, sun dried tomatoes and gorgonzola. This mixture of old world and contemporary does not stop with the food, the exposed brick architecture is accented by abstract paintings and modern metal light fixtures to form a balance of design that leaves you feeling like a guest rather than a customer. Serving you will most likely be the owners themselves; when they're are not in the kitchen dreaming up new variations on timeless classics they head out to the tables to explain the subtle nuances that make L'Antic Bocoi del Gòtic a unique and inviting restaurant.

Yelp
Creative twist on Catalan cuisine executed superbly.

Yelp
Off the chart with charm atmosphere romantic service and food, and the price was right too. It just doesn't get any better. The staff guided is appropriately as to what to order and how much they actually told us we were ordering too much. Meal for two with bottle of wine and dessert was 55 euro. Iberian ham, arugula and chicken salad, suprasad honey and cheese...just delicious.

Yelp
OK, so it's not exactly fondue weather but I couldn't resist when I saw it on the menu. We had actually ordered way too much food (bread with tomato, fondue and two coques, flatbread pizzas) and the owner suggested we order half-portions of the coques, which was perfect advice (how many restaurants suggest you order less!). Anyway, back to the fondue: this was no ordinary fondue, it comes in a little cast iron pot and when you lift the lid there's the extraordinary sound of crackling, bubbly hot cheese. The cheese itself is a whole round of cheese, something like a brie. You dig into the top crust with a chunk of crispy toasted bread--heaven! The rest of the meal was wonderful: the coques are a delicious mix of flavours and the ingredients are all super-fresh. The desserts, apple pie and chocolate mousse, were also excellent. Another mention should go to the restaurant itself: the massive stone walls take you back in time and the intimate atmosphere makes it seem like a secret discovery. Very nice.

Yelp
Amazing. Best meal in Spain. I'm gluten free and my father is a vegetarian and we were both beyond pleased with our scrumptious meals. The staff are both helpful and friendly and it's a gorgeous environment. If you can carve out the time to go - do it! You won't regret it.

Yelp
We are here on vacation from SF and found this gem by accident. Not knowing much about Catalan cuisine, the waiter was quite helpful with recommendations for my wife and me. We started with a spinach salad with walnuts and mushrooms in a mustard based dressing. That was followed by tomato, olive oil, and bread, as well as a huge serving of jamon (Spanish cured ham). Both were incredible individually and in combination. This was concluded with the main dish of coques de recapte, which is something like a Catalan pizza. There were so many choices for this, that the waiter mercifully allowed us to split it and choose two different kinds - one traditional and one contemporary combination. The contemporary combo consisted of arugula, walnuts, and Camembert cheese. The traditional choice was a combination of sausage (butifarra), red pepper, onion, and aubergine. Both were fantastic. The waiter also suggested a variety of local wines that would pair well. We chose a red that made the entire meal spectacular. All of this for what would have been a lot more back in the States! We definitely recommend this place for a special night out.
