We have had the pleasure of eating in L’Antica Forziere 6 times since 2016. The last 2 visits, we have stayed overnight and what a treat. We had another delicious meal last week, which is such good value when you compare the same quality of meal in Dublin, service excellent and yet friendly as always. It is family run which is so nice to see as all have their own roles to play in making it such a successful business and it was lovely to meet with Samuele and his wife and children again. Breakfast is also a lovely treat with lots of freshly made treats. We are not sure when we will be back as we have had 4 visits to Umbria over the past 9 years, 7 really due to 2 years of covid, so we are going to try pastures new but we know that we will definitely be back in L’Antica Forziere again some day as it holds a very special place in our hearts.

Our last visit was in 2018 and when we were leaving they told us we should stay the next time. Roll on to 2024, our first time back in Italy since 2018 and we decided to book a meal and stay overnight. We had another delicious meal again, wonderful flavours, beautifully presented and served and we really enjoyed it. And it was great to just have to climb the stairs to go back to our room. Breakfast was also a feast, great selection of freshly baked goods, juices, fruit, cereals and offer of cooked breakfast also which we declined as we only wanted light breakfast. It was great to be back as one of most favourite restaurants again and we will be back next year again. Thank you so much.

We were in the area for a wedding in Todi, so we stopped in Deruta for one night. Samuel, who runs the place along with his wife, is the nicest, most accomadating person. First he carried our luggage up stairs for us, since there is no lift. Then we wanted to go into town to see the ceramics. There is no local taxi, they would have to come from Perugia. So Samuel drove us and picked us up. The hotel has beautiful views and a lovely pool area. Beautiful plants are all around. We had a fabulous dinner, which will be reviewed under separate cover.

This visit my son and I concentrated on pure relaxation, instead of sightseeing as we have visited this lovely refuge a few times before. The hospitality is gracious, accomodations comfortable, and the food is AMAZING! I had a relaxing massage and we made use of the immaculate pool. I have been recommending this property to my traveling friends and customers for years and cannot wait to return.

Serene and Relaxing, not to be missed. We've been coming here for 18 years and recent renovations of a large atrium gathering/ cocktails/ tea room have made this place even better. Any time, we are going to be in Italy in the Umbria area we stay here and plan our excursions to Deruta, Assisi, Montefalco, Spello, Spoleto, etc from this base camp. The rooms are large and the bed is very comfortable, sheets are lovely. The views of the Umbrian hills and local church towers create an instant sense of calm and relaxation. The upgraded bathrooms are also large. The owners, the Rodella family, welcome guests, with a sincere happiness of spirit and no request is too difficult.|We were served cocktails and munchies every night in the Atrium, with a fireplace and gorgeous views of the sunset. It was a perfect setting. Nothing in Umbria compares to the Acclaimed chefs, the Rodella twin brothers, who create masterpieces for meals that make every bite a sensation of flavors. Once again, we were overjoyed to try new meals and be blown away by the taste. Don’t skimp on desert, a beauty to behold, and to taste. The only drawback to eating here is I dream of it every night and other restaurants back home just don’t compare. Five stars, a must for any itinerary wanting to eat an incredible meal in an unpretentious atmosphere.

We stayed at this lovely hotel for the first time approximately 14 years ago and have been back several times since.||This is a wonderful and friendly family run property with nice spacious rooms, a great swimming pool area, nice area for indoor and outdoor relaxation and the hotel has recently added a very nice spa. The hotel is ideally and centrally located to explore wonderful Umbria. Least let's not forget, the hotel has one of the very finest gourmet restaurants in the region. We can't wait to come back again!||

We spent a week at this amazing hotel and have only wonderful things to report. It has relatively few rooms and is more of a restautant-with-hotel than hotel-with-restaurant. And what a restaurant! - gourmet food and excellent wine list. Our room was a comfortable suite with a second door right on to the garden and the lovely pool area. We were impressed by the cleanliness and the special measures in force for covid are evident at all times. It's a family-run hotel and the friendly attention to guest needs is top in its class. Samuele has plenty of suggestions for tourism in Umbria with many sites within half an hour's drive. Deruta is close and worth a visit for its famous maiolica - but more interetsing places (including Assisi) are within easy reach. It's not exactly in an isolated spot as the superstrada to Rome runs close by, but on balance that's an advantage to the hotel (bringing visitors to the restaurant from a wide area) and to hotel guests (making it easier to see Umbria from this spot). We had a truly wonderful week and highly recommend to other travellers. Thanks to Samuele and his family!

L'Antico Forziere is a very special place – if you’re in Umbria (if you’re in Italy!) you should experience it for yourself. The whole Rodella family have made this country house hotel one of the most charming places we have stayed in. You’ll admire their attention to detail in every respect with service that is second to none from the moment you arrive. The gardens and terraces, including excellent swimming pool, are cared for with dedication. The rooms are spotlessly clean and comfortable, have a rustic feel with wrought iron fixtures, original wooden beams (our Room 23 overlooked the gardens and swimming pool) with good sized bathroom (shower, bidet and even environmentally sound toilet paper!) excellent air conditioning and sound proof windows. One of us experienced the ingeniously designed spa and the other an excellent massage given with care and expertise. And then there is the restaurant…the cuisine is world class. We only hope Michelin never get their hands on it or the prices would probably go up! Eat outside in the summer under a huge and brilliantly designed canopy or inside under candlelight. If you can only come once then choose the tasting menu – your experience will explain why this and other reviews have scored L'Antico Forziere so highly. We stayed for a week and after the first night didn’t want to eat anywhere else. It’s conveniently situated not far from the E45 but any residual noise from the road sinks into the distance as the sound of the Casalina church bells float in the air. Mornings by the pool, afternoons touring the heart of Umbria and evenings eating the best food we have tasted in Italy (and we enjoy our food!). Our next trip to Italy will be geared to visiting L'Antico Forziere again. What a splendid place, what a pleasure!
