My husband and I stayed twice at THE LAOPOET HOTEL Vientiane Laos...First time to Laos...what a lovely country. Laopoet hotel is a clean, unusual and interesting decor middle eastern, very nice hotel. First room small but very clean, upgraded the next day to a bigger room with the front street view...Very comfortable and clean. Good shower, plenty of room. The complimentary breakfasts were great, the service in the dinning room was amazing. All the girls so helpful and friendly. Great service all around. We must mention May one of the receptionists, she stood out for being extra helpful and accommodating. Her English was good which may of helped us gravitate towards her for any information. The service was great with all the employees but she seemed to be more helpful and knowledgeable about things and helped us alot...Thank you May we appreciated your time and info you gave us...(keep learning English and you will go far career wise). The location of this hotel was excellent, walking distance to many restaurants, bars, the night market. The eigth floor has a pool area and a sauna and you can have your dinners up there. Fantastic view of the area. We were there for the 50th Laos Independant Day celebrations and had a birds eye view of the amazing one hour plus fireworks and drone show...once in a lifetime experience for me..all in all a lovely hotel, with great service and clean rooms. Two pitfalls we encountered, the first which the hotel has no control over is the building site next door...when that is finished should be a much quieter place to stay, although quiet at night when its sleep time. ...the second would be advisable to get return plane tickets before going to Laos. We found it very hard to find a travel agency booking office and the Vietnam Airlines would only take cash not card?. We did manage to get plane tickets back to Saigon, with an independent third party, but it ended up being a real hassle. We said we only wanted to pay with our card, right up front...the Tickets were booked by a hotel employee not through the hotel...They were booked and purchased for us then we were told we had to pay with cash...what a hassle to get cash from the banks...A lesson learned by everyone I hope...
