I wish I could give even more stars! However, a small word of caution at the end of this review.
The first cool thing was the locker lock mechanism. They give you a wristband that pushes in the locker handle, locking it. All you have to remember is your locker number!
My boyfriend got us the Forever Grounded couple's treatment. It was done in one of their "Galaxy suites" which is a treatment room with two tables, a large steam shower and a separate private bathroom.
The treatment started with a vigorous full body scrub. The scrub itself had a mild fragrance that I could only describe as a bit like celery, but the therapist only told me it was made of sea salt and didn't know more about the scent.
After the scrub, we showered to rinse it all off. It was a steam shower and the stall was all frosted glass. The shower light overhead cast a dreamy glow through the steam. There were regular shower heads, a handheld sprayer and a rain shower head, each with their own controls.
Our treatment included cute little "bento boxes" that were more delicious than most other eats during our visit to Vegas! They weren't Japanese as the name suggests, though. His was a mini turkey sandwich on a pretzel bun with pesto cavatappi pasta salad. Mine was a mini smoked salmon sandwich on marble rye with a spring salad. It was so good that I feel like I should always order rye bread and bagels from now on!
We didn't finish all of our food, but our therapist was very kind and put our leftovers in the employee break room fridge.
Next was the massage, which felt wonderful and also hurt because I always have terrible knots. At the end, they put a rosemary scalp treatment in our hair. You can choose to have the scalp treatment earlier and wash it off in the shower, but we chose to leave it in.
Our treatment was over and we walked back to the main spa area. Since our appetites had returned, we simply asked for a couple of forks. The staff instead insisted on setting up a small private room for us to finish our bento boxes. It was really a kind, unexpected touch! They brought us more tea and small nibbles of candies and nuts as well. We told them we wanted to keep the bento boxes as souvenirs and they even washed them for us!
After eating, we checked out the rest of the co-ed spa. We started slow with the infrared sauna, then the salt room. I could taste a bit of the salt in the air, but it was pretty subtle and we didn't stay in there long. The long hot tub in the middle of the spa was super relaxing and clean. The cold plunge was intense, but invigorating. After that, it seemed the snow shower was the next logical step since we were already freezing. I've never seen anything like it anywhere! You press the button and the snow comes out in a stream that is mostly concentrated in the middle, so you can duck in and out of it. Next, we spent some time relaxing in the aromatherapy room which smelled of eucalyptus and possibly something else I couldn't quite put my finger on. Possibly clary sage? I wish I knew!
I loved how they had dispensers with one side still water and the other sparkling. Though the sides aren't marked and they switched sides depending on which machine you were at, as there are several throughout the spa.
There are some very comfortable reclining chairs in the co-ed area. And when I say recline, they go almost allll the way back like an inversion table!
Finally, the word of caution. In the infrared sauna, there are black grates where the heat comes in. There are a couple of them right behind your calves if you sit down. If you move your legs too close, you can burn yourself, which is what I did. So be careful! I wish they had some extra signs warning about this. I got a small welt on my calf, but it was gone the next day.
All in all, this was a truly special experience and I hope to come back!
