French bakery serving croissants, breads, and coffee
"Elegant and manageably sized, L’Appartement 4F’s laminated cinnamon roll is a perfect choice for a practical solo outing in the West Village or Brooklyn Heights. It’s crisp and flaky, with a butter-forward personality and a thick gob of cream cheese icing on top." - willa moore, molly fitzpatrick, bryan kim, will hartman
"The original L'Appartement 4F is in Brooklyn Heights, but we prefer the second location in the West Village. It’s just a takeout window on 10th Street where you can walk up, pet a dog, and grab a croissant that’s still warm from the oven. Crackly on the outside and stretchy in the middle, the pastries glisten in the sunlight in a way that seems supernatural but is, in fact, easily explained by butter overload. Take a napkin, and add a chocolate-almond croissant mashup to your order." - willa moore, bryan kim, sonal shah, will hartman
"A Brooklyn Heights bakery’s second location in the West Village operating with limited hours and menus initially and offering French baked goods, including the viral croissant cereal, before opening full service on February 1." - Emma Orlow
"It’s been a journey for L’Appartement 4F. The bakery started as an apartment-based, pandemic-era business, eventually turning into a Brooklyn Heights brick and mortar where their mini croissant cereal achieved modest fame. Now, there’s a takeout counter in the West Village, and it’s wonderful for reasons that have nothing to do with cereal gimmicks. Their croissant is crackly, stretchy, and overloaded with butter, and the dense cheese boule is the rare loaf of bread that doesn’t require any toppings or spreads. If there’s room in your bag, toss in an airy baguette with everything seasoning. photo credit: Bryan Kim" - Bryan Kim
"A popular Brooklyn Heights bakery has expanded with a second, takeout-window location in the West Village at 119 West 10th Street (between Greenwich and Sixth avenues). Debuted in mid-January and currently operating with limited hours and menus until it opens with full service on Saturday, February 1. Expect its French baked goods, such as all sorts of croissants (yes, including that croissant cereal), cinnamon rolls, cookies, and more." - Nadia Chaudhury
