L'Approdo delle Sirene, Siracusa, Sicily, Italy - Explore & Book

"Set on 2 sunny floors of a waterfront palazzo overlooking Siracusa’s little harbour, this family-run B&B is good value, has a great location and abundant breakfasts of fresh fruit and delectable pastries. The breakfast room and adjacent roof terrace are planted with cacti and bougainvillea and enjoy wonderful views of the harbour. But what really sets L’Approdo delle Sirene apart are the owners, mother Fiora Piccone and son Gianmarco: relaxed, cheerful, fluent in English and genuinely devoted to making their guests as comfortable as possible without being intrusive (they live in the apartment across the hall). They’ll make informed restaurant recommendations, introduce you to other B&Bs in Sicily, make sure that you're looked after if you get stuck, and hold cookery courses on request too, which could be the highlight of your trip. As for the 8 rooms, they're fresh, spruce, simple and understated, thanks to the whitewashed walls, gleaming parquet floors and striped upholstery. Highs Well-priced waterside location on the edge of Ortigia, right across the bridge from the new town and handy for public transportVery homely and friendly, with advice at hand on all aspects of Siracusa and SicilyBreakfasts of homemade cakes, tarts, artisan pastries and carefully chosen fresh fruit, with fresh Sicilian cannoli on SundaysCookery courses available on request from owner Fiora PiccioneBikes on the house Lows Some rooms are a little small, only 2 actually have sea views, and attic rooms only have skylightsDécor isn't the latest word in styleAvailability can be a problem" - Ros Belford

My family stayed in 6 different rooms for a week during Easter 2025. It is an incredibly beautiful place. The location is perfect on Ortigia. Beautiful view. A nice reception and a fantastic breakfast area/terrace. Here the family had many nice breakfasts together. The food was varied and tasty. Many types of coffee were served for breakfast. Good value for money. The rooms were simple but delicious. Our family had an incredibly good time during our stay. One of the days one of us had a birthday and then they treated us to an aperitif and snacks on the terrace in the evening. Thank you very much for this. All the staff are so nice and helpful. Highly recommend the place. Thank you for us!

Terrible experience. Checked in at 7:30pm and discovered that the shower was clogged. Bathroom flooded. Given the mold and grime it appears as if was a repeated problem -“lo stesso problema” the reception said on the phone. We had to abort our stay.

The hotel is simple but very well located and taken care of. Daniele was very nice to us and helped on any questions (great restaurants recommendations) or needs.

Arrived to a shower that was dirty/moldy and wouldn’t drain. Shower flooded and when the reception called for help she said “lo stesso problema.” Had to leave to a better hotel and received a full refund.

B & B is exactly as shown on the site. It sits right on the large harbour at Ortiga, Syracuse. There are two car parks nearby but the one to go to is the further away as it is only 20 euros for 24 hours. Our room was on the same floor as the reception desk. It was spacious, bright, airy and kept immaculate by the cleaners. Reception is manned 8am to 8pm so if you are a needy traveller, this may not suit you. There is an excellent restaurant only a few yards from the front door and a wealth of bars, cafes and restaurants throughout the area. Breakfast was a real treat with bruschetta, home made vegetable flan, the tastiest ham I have ever had and some lovely cheese plus a whole host of sweet treats including a homemade apple flan. Staff were lovely and always helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

Lovely hotel. We stayed for two nights in a room with great views out to the sea and harbour. As the website states, it’s minimalist but all very comfortable and clean. Stunning views from the breakfast room and roof terrace, and perfect location for exploring Ortigia. Only a 15-20 min walk from Siracusa station which was no problem. Friendly staff. Would thoroughly recommend!

Perfect for my needs, simple, serene, very clean, very calming and quiet, fantastic historic building however modern inside. The room had a fantastic balcony view, petite room as I requested. Stayed years ago 7/2005. Excellent location for walking around, seeing Siracusa and the harbors.

Yelp
his quaint little bed and breakfast located in the old town of Siracusa, Sicily. The room was clean and bright, and the interior has a nautic feel, as it is very close to the tranquil harbour. The breakfast was served on the roof top, with a view of the harbour and town. The breakfast was fresh, tasty and consisted of some Sicilican specialities. The service was polite and attentive. The only problem we had was finding the place when we arrived, as the sign was small and easy to miss.
