If you would like to stay in the Pelourinho, the location of the hostel is perfect - it is just around the corner of the most popular squares, churches etc. of Salvador's old town.||I booked the female dorm with 7 beds and I stayed only for one night, so it was fine, but the dorm is very, very small. It has no ensuite bathroom, there is a community bathroom for women on the same floor with 3 toilets, 3 showers and 3 washing tables. That was also totally fine for one night, but I could imagine that is gets busy when there are more guests in the hostel (e.g. in the summer time). The bathroom seems to get cleaned quite often which is good and I appreciated the liquid soap.||There are some community areas where you can sit down and read or watch TV, but there is no atmosphere for socializing, let alone partying with other travellers. The staff speaks English and is very friendly. For a hostel, there is a wide choice of food at breakfast. All in all, it's a respectable hostel for a short stay, but it doesn't belong to the ones where you feel at home or have the time of your life!
