Larner Vineyard & Winery Tasting Room

The wine here is consistently awesome. Fabulous Ballard Canyon Syrah and more! And, always the crisp and delightful Malvasia Bianca. Located right by the flagpole in Los Olivos, we make sure to visit Larner on every trip up here.

Michael, the wine maker, hosted us, a group of 8, at the vineyard. We sat outside at a long outside table surrounded by the vines and grapes. As we tasted, we also walked around the vines, even got to taste the grapes since it was harvest season. All the wines we tasted were very lovely. We purposed several bottles to take back to Chicago with us. I would highly recommend visiting this beautiful vineyard with gorgeous views located in Los Olivos.

The secret is out, Larner makes great organic wines. One of the few wineries where everything is good.

Small friendly tasting room. The grapes are sourced to many of the best wineries for use in some of best Syrah blends in California. The growers own efforts are well done. Very good juice. Highly recommended.

Smallest tasting room I’ve seen. Small number of wines available for tasting. Wines were good but the price point is very high. $15 tasting fee. Our server, Jenny, was excellent and made for an enjoyable visit.

Phenomenal wines with by-the-glass pours at the center of town. Stopped by on the July 4th holiday about 1 hour to close. We were apologetic about cutting close but we never once felt pressured to be on our way. Owner was incredibly hospitable and kind. Highly recommend this tasting room next time you head to Los Olivos!

Larner/tensley/carina cellars are not only in the same building but the same wine maker. A tad confusing and hours are a bit hit and miss for both. If they are open, they are a must try. Rich reds great flavor.

The best Mourvèdre you're ever gonna have! Delicious wine that's bold and flavorful with a really good balance of acidity, tannins and flavor. He does make more robust wines, but also fruitier wines depending on which wine that you're after... so he's got a variety for different pallets. The Sarah reserve is co-fermented with Viognier and I really like that one. He's got a good Grenache and he does make some blends. All his white wines are delicious. Service is exceptional, and it has a general store right next-door where we can buy a periodic table of wines or an official map of the Santa Valley AVA .

Located on the Main Street on a corner in Los Olivos Larner has a tasting room and here you can people watch, bring your furry family member (dog) and sip on some wines. They are located next to paninos if you get hungry and bring your food. Their rose is perfect for a warm day. You have the option to do a tasting, order a bottle or have a flight tasting. The service is attentive and they are knowledgeable on their wines.

When you visit you can't forget to take a bottle home! Larner gets a yearly visit from us because we absolutely love the taste of the wine- their whites are especially perfect on a hot day. The staff is always amazing and dog friendly. Plus the store and the sandwich shop next door add to the visit.

The smallest tasting room I've visited. Not much bigger than a walk-in closet and tucked next to the Los Olivos General Store, it's easy to overlook. In the past, I liked enough to buy bottles of viognier and syrah. I wasn't as keenly interested this time. The viognier is no longer produced and the syrahs had consistently high heat from the alcohol. The lower than normal $15 tasting fee covered five wines. Typical of tasting rooms in Los Olivos, the fee was not waived with bottle purchase.

Had an excellent glass of white wine today, I wish I got the name. I didn't :( it's such a cute place with a nice patio to sit outside in front. Will come back for more white wine! Such a good wine, with a nice little view out front at Los Olivos.

Best wine in the area by far! My husband and I tried a few different wines in the various tasting rooms in the area and we both agreed that Michael Larner's wines to was the best, especially the Grenache. Even the rosé was very good, and I'm not generally a fan of that wine. I bought a bottle of the rosé as a gift for a friend because it had a unique and delicious flavor to it. The room is small, really only accommodates a couple of people, but service is friendly (Diana was especially nice and helpful), and the wine is wonderful. There is only a small quantity of each Larner wine bottled so I felt like part of an exclusive group. If you fancy there is also handpainted art by Christina Larner for sale that is quite lovely and reasonably priced. We'll be back!

Larner Vineyard & Winery is located in downtown Los Olivos. SERVICE (5/5): Very friendly barista explained the fermentation process and vineyards they had in the area. ATMOSPHERE (3/5): Located downtown there is outdoor seating and they have an adjacent shop with goods for sale. WINE (4/5): The currently available Yelp deal here is great! 2-for-1 tastings for $15 total includes two white wines and three red wines. None of the wines were huge hits for me but the Syrah was my favorite. Food options are available.

Larner's tasting room is small and easy to miss between the General Store and Panino, but do yourself a favor and make sure you get to this one. There are some really wonderful tasting rooms in town and at the corner in the center of town, Kaena and Evan's Ranch are really awesome. But the BEST is Larner's - that quiet shop tucked away in the corner. The tasting room is so small that only a handful of people can fit in there at one time. But that's fine because there are plenty of tables right out front, with a great view of the town as you're basking in the sun. Our first tasting was a GSM Rose. As a 'red' girl, maybe that's why I enjoyed this tasting so much. I usually have to get through a couple of whites before I get to the reds, but Larner's tasting jumped right in. Every single wine was amazing. I loved their Reserve Syrah, but their other Syrah was also so good (and at a more reasonal price point) that we had to come back the next day to pick it up. We ended up with a handful of bottles after our trip, but this was definitely my favorite. I also have to add that the service was incredible as well. Beyond the wine knowledge, we also received restaurant recommendations, suggestions for activities and when I accidentally spilled some wine on my dress, my boyfriend came back with paper towels and one of the girls right behind him, with a wine stain remover. We chatted with them again the next day when we stopped back in and it was like seeing a friend again. The warm hospitality combined with the quality of wines makes Larner stand out. I would highly recommend this winery!

We love this tiny wine tasting room for Larner varieties. A previous reviewer was correct that it is one of if not THE best in the area. The attached Los Olivos General Store is a great place for gorgeous little things. Highly recommended and if you love the wine like we do you should think about joining their wine club. Cheers!

Larner is a great winery in Los Olivos. The tasting room is really small, so it tends to get a little packed it there are multiple parties tasting, but it's definitely worth it. I've seen a few different wineries that use fruit from the Larner but hadn't actually tried their wines until recently. Rosé has become very popular lately, and I think that Larner has one of the best around. Their GSM is excellent as is their single varietal Syrah. If you're in Los Olivos, definitely check out Larner.

I love Larner wines!!! The tasting room is really small but I kind of like that intimacy. I was first introduced to Larner Wines through a local wine company, The Wandering Dog, that carries their wine. And I have to say I was hooked! I really wanted to visit the tasting room and I'm glad I did.The lady who was pouring tastes was really nice and explained things when we asked. You seriously can't go wrong with any of their wines!

This is a small and very friendly wine taking place next to a general store. Tasting was only $15 for 5 wines, lower than most of the tasting places.

Just like all of said, it's a small room, but hopefully you can get a table outside. Good wines. I do not recall one standing out though. It was the end of the day, and we did strike up a conversation with a couple outside, so I was not as focused as I should have been. We will probably be back.

One of the best tasting rooms in all of Los Olivos. The most incredible Syrah, with wonderful staff that are so knowledgable and talkative. Such a great environment and a place I would love to frequently visit!

They have great Syrah at the tasting room in Los Olivos. What is nice is you can buy a good sandwich was Panino next door and then taste here with your foot. I liked all the wines, the Reserve Syrah was fantastic and had such a nice long finish. Would definitely have more wine from here.

Very average. Tiny tasting room so we sat outside. The only wine that was worth remembering was their reserve Syrah but they want $72.00 for a bottle and it simply is not worth it. Everything else was forgettable.

Without question, absolutely our favorite wine label in Los Olivos! The wine is absolutely incredible, consistently delivering year after year and across all varietals. Even better, their team makes you feel like family... with Michael Larner (owner & winemaker), Emily Dixon (Tasting Room, Wine Club, & Events Manager) and so on! I would highly recommend coming in to the Tasting Room for a tasting, a bottle or best - a Wine Club Membership. ...and then stop in next door at Los Olivos General Store for some great finds!

The wines are all a bit raisiny and very overpriced. Nice tasting room personnel every time we have tried them. Just our opinion.

We love Larner Vineyards. Sadly we hate to write this review because it may get more popular. They have the most amazing wine and the service is Second to none. Jenny is the highlight of our visit. We are members and just love the Grenache and Mouvedre. But all the reds are incredible. If you are in Los Olivos you have to stop by this place.

Wonderful time at Larner Vineyards! We recently had the extraordinary opportunity of meeting Michael Larner and learning about his terrific wines. Mr Larner is very knowledgable about the land and the unique qualities that make his wine so exceptional. After touring the vineyards, we sat down to do a tasting and discovered our favorite Syrah (The Reserve). Great wines, beautiful vineyards, and gracious host. An all around outstanding experience!

I wasn't at the actual winery, but Michael did come to Alisal Ranch to do a wine tasting for our group. What a wonderful event. Delicious wine, great conversation and we all learned so much from Michael! I joined the wine club so I can enjoy these delicious wines back in Georgia!

Love the wines and the tasting room attendant Jeni. Although the tasting room is extremely small. But all around a tasting room I would highly recommend!

Was having lunch next door and was intrigued by the wine descriptions posted outside the Larner tasting room. I am a fan of big reds and they promised a few. I tried an amazing red blend, Elemental, and two Syrahs. They were all delicious. I had no problem deciding to get a few of the Elemental. While I enjoyed both of the Syrahs, I decided on a few of the Reserve Syrah, which were also on holiday sale. The tasting room hostess was very friendly and offered great information about the wines and the winemaker. While the tasting room may be small, the experience is big and the wines likewise.

It's just ok. It was a little room. Maybe 5 people could fit at the counter. The picture of the chairs are misleading since you can't take the wine outside due to licensing. The girl seemed pleasant enough but was busy chatting with the other people next to us. Seemed like they were friends or something so she didn't spend a lot of time explaining anything to us. Also, no restrooms in the place. Tiny counter.

5 star wines! 5 star staff! This is the hidden gem of Los Olivos! I am constantly trying new wineries in the Los Olivos/ Santa Ynez area searching for amazing wines. Larner never fails and always impresses me. Every time I go there, the wine is better than the time before (which I didn't think was possible).If you are into high end, full bodied, delicious wine, you must try Larner. Ask for Emily to serve you. She will pour the best of the best and will give you a full wine education while you sip their magical wines.

It is amazing how Larner wines stands out in a town filled with great wines.
