Larruzz Bilbao

During my stay in the wondrous city of Bilbao, I planned on having a meal at Larruzz. I identified this restaurant by researching on Google Maps. The reviews were good, so I thought I'm going there! I didn't make a reservation before my visit, but luckily I was able to get a table. The staff who served me were very friendly and helpful. The service I received was excellent. I ordered 3 dishes. A really tasty starter. The main course of crayfish and prawn paella 🥘 was so tasty. I had a lemon 🍋 sorbet to cleanse my palate after I finished my main course plus a double espresso to keep me awake ⏰️. I was expecting a bill over €60 as I didn't look at the prices, but I was shocked when it was only €43 including a beer too! That's such good value for such a nice restaurant right by the river. The restaurant is well appointed too, and the decor top notch. I'd say, if you enjoy good food at reasonable pricing, then pay Larruzz a visit if you are in Bilbao, you won't be disappointed. 🙂

I came here on a local’s recommendation for paella, and it did not disappoint. The bread with basil pesto and the Iberico were also absolutely delicious. Highly recommended!

Fantastic! The tuna avocado tartare with crostini, and the scallops in garlic (served in shell) were both amazing. The tuna was mixed with chunks of avocado held together with a mild soya-based sauce, and the scallops were small but so flavourful - salted, herb and garlic. With bread, oil and vinegar, some sangria and my friend’s duck pâté, we were done for the evening at 4pm. Our server Rakel was lovely, attentive, and helpful. We’ll be back.

1/5 — Very Disappointing Experience We were required to have a reservation, but when we arrived, the restaurant was completely empty — and remained that way throughout our visit. The menu was confusing, and although our server attempted to explain it, they did so in a way that lacked professionalism and completely disregarded personal space. After placing our order, we waited an hour for our food. Unfortunately, it wasn’t worth the wait. The paella was bitter, the mussels had sand in them, and the small pasta dish tasted anything but fresh. This place presents itself as a high-quality restaurant, but the reality was far from it. Definitely not worth the hype or the price

Very very tasty food but very stingy on the quantity. I could’ve easily eaten that paella for two on my own and still been a little hungry for dessert. The paella rice grain is small and should be a full cup per person.

Amazing place for paella and great value , but other main dishes are ok in my opinion. Many locals were in the restaurant when we visit. The service is ok, the food came faster than I thought.

Beautiful restaurant for paella lover. Service is warm and dessert is good also.
