Larsmont Cottages on Lake Superior

Loved the Lake house accommodations. Beautiful grounds, spectacular lake view and walking path, nice fire pits, free standing sauna. Restaurant has nice atmosphere and kind staff. Food was good. They had live musicians on the weekend. Hot tub was large, comfortable and hot. Fall color was so pretty. It was amazingly crowded with traffic in town during this time of year. And they even had a 9 hole disc golf course that my sons , who are avid players, took advantage of right outside our door!

Have always had a great experience at Larsmont Cottages! Every single staff member I've encountered has always been so nice and accommodating. Everyone goes above and beyond to make the stay wonderful, from having the wood-fired sauna always going to fun crafts for kids (and adults), to having delicious fruit-infused water at the front desk. It is really the little touches like those that make the stay memorable and truly fun and relaxing. The restaurant was delicious and great for someone with a gluten allergy and the cottages are so cozy and clean. Also the views are amazing!!

This location is absolutely gorgeous - we loved being able to walk along the lakeshore first thing in the morning, and it feels so peaceful. We enjoyed our meals at the restaurant, and our room, while small, was comfortable. The pool and sauna looked great although we didn't have time to try them out.

I am really disappointed about our experience with the 'couples massage'. It was very uncoordinated and caused the opposite of feeling relaxed. We booked a 90 min. starting at 11am and for some reason, only one massage therapist was on site. We were brought to the couples massage room, where were told to get undressed and to lay on the beds. The first therapist (a man) worked on my husband, and I just laid there, it was awkward and felt uncomfortable. I waited 1.5 hours before the other one showed up- and yes, I'm in the room and under the covers this whole time. I had to use the restroom so I covered myself with the blankets and got up, was I was going back to the room the other therapist showed up and said, "she couldn't find me." This was super upsetting as I was exactly where I should have been- the couples massage room. There were only 2 rooms!! In trying to accommodate the issue, they gave us a 20% discount which brought our final price to $402! It was overpriced and certainly not worth what we paid for. Would not recommend to others.

I spent the most wonderful weekend at Larsmont Cottages on Lake Superior in Two Harbors, and I can’t stop thinking about it. From the breathtaking views of Lake Superior to the incredible service, every detail made this stay so special. The cottages were spotless and fully stocked with everything you could need, and the on-site restaurant served up some delicious meals. Between time in the sauna and a relaxing massage, evenings by the fire pits and hammocks along the shoreline, and days filled with hiking, crafting, and simply soaking in nature, I left feeling refreshed and so grateful for the experience. I was blown away by it all and truly cannot wait to go back. If you’re looking for a cozy getaway on the North Shore, this is it. 🌲🌊🔥🪵🥾🎨

Lovely upscale property with great location and beautiful lake shoreline view when you walk down to shore. Good attention to detail and very clean. But needs to up their game with TV technology and HVAC system. Also, not much sound attenuation between floors. Would be a problem if a noisy bunch below.

It seems off the beaten path, but it is the perfect little oasis for families and couples. There are lots of on site activities and small details for convenience and accommodation that most places don't even think of. ||||Everything was clean, staff were friendly and helpful. ||||My one criticism would be to make the beds and pillows more comforting, as they are a little tough. Also, just be careful with the hot water, as it can be scolding haha

Our cottage had a beautiful view of Lake Superior. The trails are well kept and the grounds had a lovely fall glow. This place has always been magic for us - calms our minds and warms our hearts.

For the price, this place is very average. Pros: Good location right on the water. Almost no traffic noise from Hwy 61. Higher quality look and feel of the buildings. Cons: Very high price compared to most lodging options in the area. Bed mattress is very firm. There is a thin layer of pillow top, but it is well broken down. I had a back ache both early mornings, waking up well before I wanted to. The ironing board is one of those mini ones with a dirty old cover. Although there were wine glasses, there was no cork screw in the room. Although there are big candles in the bathroom there is no matches provided to light them. The s'mores kit we were provided had stale marshmallows. One of the bathroom sink bowls had some kind of unsightly chemical damage. In-room TV is small (20") and low quality. Refrigerator froze our milk solid. I'd be fine with the issues of this place, if the price was lower. For the price they are charging, none of these cons should exist.

In A Nutshell: -Larsmont Cottages is a very nice place if you want to get away for a long weekend. -It's definitely "glamping" where you can either be a part-owner or rent. -Since I don't live in the area, we ended up renting a small room during 2018 Labor Day weekend. -Parking was always easy to find. -The location is off the beaten path & along the north shore of Lake Superior. -You can ask for a free smores kit at check-in & then use any of their awesome campfires along the lake. -They will light the fires for you & provide free wood to toss in. -The room we rented had comfortable queen-sized bed & private bathroom. -We even got a free bottle of champagne in ice & a personal message welcoming us. Overall, I would stay here again. I love Two Harbors and the entire area. It's much better than going to Lake Tahoe bc there's little to no traffic & Lake Superior is the biggest freshwater lake in America.

I've been to Larsmont four times. I've stayed in the Lakeside Cottage Suite and Cottage Guest Room. The Cottage Guest Room is tiny and doesn't have a view of the lake. We now stay in the Lakeside Cottage Suite and I found that to be much more comfortable and worth the extra money. - Some of the reasons I love Larsmont: - it sits on a beautiful piece of property - wood fired sauna - outdoor hot tub - it is open in the dead of winter too! - nice indoor swimming pool - great main lodge with bar/lounge area and good restaurant - nice staff - lots of activities to participate in if you so choose - location - easy drive into Duluth and Two Harbors - room decor - not a lot of children - adirondack chairs - This will continue to be the only place we stay when traveling to the North Shore.

WOW the rooms were something from the internet and the sat TV service and a TV in just about every room. Oh did I mention the lake about 100 ft from my back patio door. The extras were everywhere from Bikes too use and fire pits on the lake. The food was so wonderful and the people really wanted you too relax and have fun. I love this place I would say its a must try place on the lower North Shore.

I have been recently trying to find the perfect venue to have my wedding and I can't tell you how easy it has been working with Hannah and all of the staff at Larsmont Cottages. Given the fact that I am from out of State, she really bent over backwards to answer all of my questions and accommodate me when I came for a site visit. The community itself is clean and well groomed, cottages are comfortable, view... well... you can't beat the backdrop of Lake Superior. The staff, was welcoming and friendly which is very important, and the food was awesome. This place is perfect for an intimate wedding and it was our very first choice. Ultimately my fiancee and I chose to elope in Italy (we followed our true heart), but before we made that choice, Larsmont was the only choice for us in the North Shore area. Thank you Hannah and all of the staff. We are sorry we won't be able to enjoy a wedding there, but will definitely be back for a vacation.

We had our wedding at Larsmont in January 2020. There were some fabulous things about the venue and some things that left something to be desired. All in all, I highly recommend this place as a vacation stop, but not as a wedding venue (unless they improve their food... the restaurant food is fabulous, just not the wedding food). First, for the good. The resort is FABULOUS. Our guests loved the venue. It was beautiful. The set up was gorgeous. Multiple guests said this was the most fun wedding they've ever attended, in part because of the venue. Also, Larsmont was kind of a one-stop shop wedding venue which was really great. I didn't have to do a ton of outside planning, organizing, etc. Larsmont was able to take care of nearly everything from the venue, the food, the alcohol, lodging, set-up and take down, and the groom's dinner. They also had great recommendations for local hair/make-up (Salon 507) and flowers (Saffron & Grey). Our two outside vendors were amazing. The staff worked hard to make our day a success. They were very kind and professional. Unfortunately, there were a few things that need to be improved upon. Our wedding food was AWFUL. It was nothing like the tasting. We were so disappointed in the food. Our entrees were cold, overcooked, dry and expensive! At least 2 of our guests didn't even eat their meals because they were so bad. For this reason alone, I recommend finding an entirely different wedding venue. If Larsmont is able to improve their food I would definitely recommend Larsmont for a wedding. This is unquestionably the worst food I've ever had at any wedding I've ever attended. I was so crushed. My sibling was married at their sister resort last summer and the food was fabulous. I don't know what happened. Next, our bar tab was totally screwed up at the end of the event. We were hosting beer and wine only, but the bar served everyone whatever they wanted causing us to reach our bar limit at 7 pm. The Larsmont Staff worked really hard to fix this after the fact, but this isn't something I wanted to wake up to deal with the morning after my wedding. Additionally, it didn't get completely resolved for more than a month after our wedding date. I have to say, even though this situation wasn't ideal, the staff was super nice about it and did what they could to correct it. This speaks volumes about the service they aspire to. There was a minimum 2 night stay at the resort despite a mid-January wedding. This was extremely frustrating to many of our guests. I certainly understand this requirement mid-summer, but mid-winter it seemed to be unnecessary. Lastly, there were a couple small things here and there where the wedding coordinator made things more complicated than need be. Our wedding coordinator was very kind and professional with all communication, but seemed to struggle with independent problem solving. More specifically, our wedding coordinator would reach out to me to solve their internal problems which I am incapable of solving as they were their issues. Ultimately, I reached out to the manager who got involved and straightened out all these small kinks. If Larsmont is able to improve their wedding food, I highly recommend this as a wedding venue. If not, you will definitely need to find a different venue.

Wonderful surprise to find these spacious, clean cottages right on the Lake. Family friendly, enough outdoor experiences for all. Centrally located to explore the North Shore. Restaurant onsite only open for dinner which was okay because it forced to find local gems. I'd return!

So happy with our stay at the Larsmont Cottages, besides the lady bartender everyone was super accommodating and friendly. The view is spectacular and I love how they provide you with a s'mores kit, fire wood, & kindling generously. Definitely recommend staying here!

Nobody puts Baby in the corner. And that should be the goal for Larsmont Cottages. NOBODY should put this place in a corner. It definitely reminded us of a 'days-gone-by', 'Dirty Dancing' style resort. My boyfriend and I stayed in Canal Park the previous night, and decided to stay somewhere closer to the hiking and state parks of the North Shore on night #2. We checked in a little early, and our guest room was ready. They told us about all of the amenities - free bikes, movies, s'more kits, bonfires, lawn games, and the outdoor hot tub! We immediately felt at home, and instantly relaxed. Our room was modest in size, meaning much smaller than you would imagine for a hotel room, but we expected that after reading fellow yelp reviews. It was clean, cool, and comfortable. The bed was cozy, and you kind of felt like you were staying at your Aunt Mavis' cabin guest house instead of a hotel. The lakefront walk is BEAUTIFUL! Despite the major horse flies (it had stormed a TON in the days leading up to our stay), it was still a gorgeous view. We hit Two Harbors for dinner, came back and did the pool and the hot tub, checked out a movie, got some s'mores for roasting and hit up one of the beach front bonfires. We chatted with a very nice couple from Winona, and listened to the waves crash along the shore while snuggled up in Adirondack chairs under the twinkling stars. It was heaven. And I would jump at the opportunity to go back again. In fact, will keep an eye on rates for a possible winter romantic weekend getaway!

I stayed at Larsmont with my family. We rented out the entire house including the upstairs suite. Views are spectacular from the patio and every house gets its own fire pit with complementary fire starting at your command. The resort itself is amazing. Cottages are nicely appointed and tastefully decorated with appropriate nautical decor. Stone fireplace and flatscreen television add a nice touch. Kitchens are furnished with all the appliances you need to make a complete meal. (Dishwasher included) Bedrooms on the top and lower levels both have a full bath with shower and Whirlpool. Our house hosted 8 people comfortably. The main house has a indoor pool and a restaurant which is absolutely delicious and exquisitely tasteful. Only a short drive from Duluth, and a half an hour drive to Gooseberry state park. Worth the stay, perfect for a weekend getaway or a honeymoon retreat.

We spent three nights at Larsmont and it couldn't have been better. The staff greeted us warmly. Our room, while small, suited our needs. We didn't plan to spend much time there. Nice flat screen TV with satellite, spacious closet. Most nights, they bring out a s'mores bucket at the main fire pit. There are fire pits sprinkled throughout the property that can be lighted by staff at your request. The pamphlet for massage services didn't include prices. Prices aren't included on the website either. That's one thing I didn't like. My companion said it's something like $110 for an hour, which is nowhere near a good value.

I gave this spot 3 stars. We had a upstairs room in a cotage because we were there for a wedding, the room was tiinnnnnneyyyyy i mean tiiiinnnneyyyyyyyyyyy and 295.00 per night. The cabins are all about 100 to 200 feet from the lake. each cottage has a fire pit with lots of wood so you can sit and look at the fire all night long. the staff was amazingg.. they made sure we had everything we needed. the restaurant had very good food. I would go back to larsmont because the restaurant and the staff. the bar even stayed open latter than normal because they wanted to take care of us

Stayed here with friends on a visit to Two Harbors and would highly recommend it! We had a 2-bdr. cottage that wasn't in the 'front line' with any special shore view, but the house itself was wonderful and we could've fit another 2 couples in with us easily. There was a beautiful fireplace, modern, granite countertops in the kitchen, a large table for eating or games - we ended up hosting a family get together here because it was so nice! We also ate at the restaurant, which was somewhat pricey, but delicious! The cottages have trails along the lakeshore and sitting areas spaced along the shore, complete with adirondack chairs and firepits. We spent several hours just relaxing in one of those chairs, watching ore boats and laughing like loons - wait, no - those WERE loons laughing like us!

This place is beautiful!!! Situated right on Lake Superior, they have many different accomodations to choose from. They have less expensive guest rooms, that are quite small, but if it's only 1 or 2 people, it's plenty. They also have huge cabins that can accomodate a large family. Those are equipped with everything you could possible need/want. They have an awesome outdoor whirlpool, massage cottage, free DVD rentals, a great restaurant...and so much more! I love, love, love this place. It's so peaceful and relaxing, even on the busiest of weekends.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay a lot. We took out complimentary bikes, and had a nice morning walk along the lake. We ate twice in the hotel restaurant. Maybe we could live here! Everything was clean and comfortable, and service folks were very friendly.

Came for our 15th anniversary and were completely blown away at our 1BR lakeside cottage. Morning sunset on a crisp fall morning was unforgettable.

We've been coming up to the North Shore for the holidays the past 20 years and this is one of the best places we've found! Perfect for large families renting a couple attached units. Staff was extremely quick to respond to any and all requests- including firewood delivered every evening! Can't beat the view and cozy atmosphere. Only thing I would add is some local beers on tap at the bar! Will be back!

We go to Larsmont every spring and even though Ol Lake Superior never disappoints with its cold breeze, we always have a blast. This resort is kept up so nice and we are so close to the lake. Waking up to the sound of waves hitting shore is the only way to wake up.

Stayed in one of their small queen rooms. Very small room but we didn't spend a lot of time in it. The first night we didn't have any hot water to shower. Maintenance came to check on it and said it was because someone below us used it all filling their jacuzzi tub. They did little to offer a solution. The shower water never did get very hot. The campfires along the shore line were very cool. They supply all the s'more fixings as well. The place was very clean and the staff was very friendly.

My fiancé and I stayed here for one night in a "guest room." The room was tiny but it was very clean and well appointed. The resort offers a variety of different types of rooms, so if you need more space I would recommend opting for a different type of room. The decor is cute and everything is very comfortable. The "guest room" worked perfectly for us. The staff was extremely courteous and helpful. They assisted us with checking in and out and they were very accommodating. The bartenders and servers in the lobby restaurant were also very kind. We attended a private event here as well, it was beautifully executed and the food was delicious. My favorite part was making s'mores by the fire even thought it was freezing with the wind off the lake. We made great memories here and we hope to be back soon.

Service and food at the Ledge Rock grille was horrible. The room was clean and views amazing.

I love this place! Customer service is top notch, the rooms are very clean and neatly decorated. Even being along Old North Shore Road gives it more of a secluded, get-away feeling. I've been here both in the summer and the winter, and during the winter I stayed in a Lakeview Cottage Suite, it was really wonderful and just what I wanted. TV on top of a gas fireplace, king-size bed, deck with Lake Superior about 30 feet away, and a huge whirlpool bathtub in the bathroom. Also, coffee pot and mini fridge that I made some good use of. I'm really looking forward to going back!

Stayed here for a weekend of snowmobiling in February. The place was very nice and exceeded expectations. Great value and great amenities and very well cleaned and prepared. Good location near two harbors but not too far out of Duluth. Short drive to different snowmobile trail-heads as well. Only downer was the WiFi was sometimes slow but we didn't need to use the internet much anyways. Would recommend this place to anyone!

My wife and I stayed in a 1bdr room. The room was nicely decorated, but it was TINY!! The bed nearly took up the entire room. It was so tight that the coffee maker was on a coffee table stuffed against the wall. (We walked through one of the larger condo type suites, and there wasn't a comparison on the amount of room you had) We had our air conditioner on at night, and it ran ALL night long without changing the temp for that 1 little room plus it was LOUD..... Not very efficient. Their idea of "going green" is not cleaning rooms daily (no problem with that, just reuse your towel, or ask for more), not mowing the lawn between the lake and rooms, and having overgrown landscaping.... If they really wanted to "go green" they would use a reel mower, energy efficient appliances like LED tv's instead of the old tube tv's, and an air conditioner that will cool a room down... To me they use this gimmick to make you "feel good" about staying there when they are really just hiring fewer people and making more money. It's not "going green", it's just a way to make it sound good. Don't waste your money here.

Fantastic stay at the Larsmont Cottages! My wife and I went there in late March (2016) while our son was off on a trip. It was a relaxing get away. A Google search for an out door hot tub is really what helped us find it. The property was clean and tightly organized. Our room was ready and very nice. My only wish was for a firmer pillow. The pool was perfect and not too crowded. I don't think the water was heated, but the pool room was a nice warm temperature. The front desk was staffed with friendly helpful employees. Two Harbors is nearby if you need something from a grocery store. We didn't get a chance to try the restaurant on site, but it sounded good. Our view of Lake Superior from our balcony was the highlight of the trip. I would definitely go back.

We were here last year for two nights, and here for two nights again this year. You would think I would have learned, definitely need to stay longer! This is a beautiful resort with a fabulous view of the lake and great staff and services! It is a bit pricey, but a reasonable value for the money spent! We did not get a chance to try the restaurant so I cannot comment, but the appearance is great.

Don't bother with the food service/the on-site restaurant service is consistently horrible and subpar. There is a clear lack of management oversight or professional/competent running of a restaurant.

Not cheap, but good value for money. Fantastic cabins. Great location. Would visit again and again. Restaraunt is best on north shore by far. We rented 3 bedroom with 6 people and a baby. Kitchen had all equipment we needed to cook a full breakfast.

This resort is 5 star all the way! I love the decor in the cottage. The two bedrooms were wonderful. I love that the "cottage" had 3 bathrooms! We fixed our meals and "in" and found everything we needed to prepare our meals. The staff delivers firewood and makes the fire outside your cottage! You could "rent" bikes and take them on a tour of the local coffee and candy shops. The pool and hot tub were refreshing. They also have a sauna. The staff at Larsmont were friendly and accommodating! I will definitely come back next year!

Very nice and pretty! Near the lake. We rented a room... can hear EVERYTHING from the other room. Also... the pillowcase and bedspread were dirty upon our arrival. It was nice watching sky lanterns from the outdoor hot tub!

Been coming for 5 years. Staff is great from front desk, to cleaning, to restaurant, to activity directors. Lots of kids often here and our three kids love it. Fire pits, s'mores, activities, etc. give you a lot to do that doesn't cost any extra. Very clean and quiet as well. If coming as a family and planning on cooking your meals as we have always done, main thing I'd recommend bringing is a good frying pan as the ones they have are not great (from overuse), otherwise what they provide is adequate for utensils, plates, etc. We also bring a pump hand soap and plastic containers for leftovers to make things a little easier with kids. A few minute drive North is Great Lakes Candy Kitchen which is an awesome throwback candy shop with really nice staff as well.

Me and my husband, we had a fantastic weekend at Larsmont Cottages. It was our first visit, and we absolutely loved it, the breathtaking lake view, beautiful room with jacuzzi tub, and overall environment and staffs were very warm and welcoming. Everything was very clean, and we had a wonderful time having smores, and playing outdoor games, we would definitely recommend this place for couples and families.

Beautiful, clean lodging. Food and service was awesome! Nightly outdoor fires lit for all to enjoy!

We very much enjoyed staying here! Unit was clean with a good quality bed and an excellent view of Lake Superior. Excellent construction and solid windows - no drafts present on windy days! The sauna and outdoor hot tub were nice amenities. All staff very friendly and helpful. We stayed in the one bedroom suite which was more than enough room for the two of us. Overall, this was a great value and we will most definitely be back. We were there in mid-February so we enjoyed winter activities. Next time I'd like to try October.

Excellent place to stay on Lake Superior. The rooms were very nice and clean. We stayed in the lakeside suite which had a wonderful view of the lake. The staff was great and always attentive to our needs. The food at the LedgeRock grill was great and I can't wait to go back. The only bad thing about our stay was the WiFi. It was beyond bad and none of my devices would work. I am sure we will make a trip back someday soon.

This is an absolutely beautiful place to stay. Great amenities, secluded location, and fantastic hospitality. First time I stayed here and I will be back! Look forward to visiting during summer and fall.

My husband and I greatly enjoyed our stay in their 1 BR Lakeview Cottage. It was a great getaway for a long weekend, close to Duluth for restaurants, but still quiet and tucked away on Lake Superior. Our cottage was clean, well-stocked with all the pots and pans and towels we needed, and truly comfortable. We spent a couple mornings in the chairs overlooking the lake, drinking coffee and reading. If you come - and do! - bring your own toiletries (the ones they provide aren't too nice) and your own bathrobe (none provided). Keep in mind that cottage really means 1 section of a three-section unit - you aren't in your own building. We had people above us the first night that were really loud, but the staff handled it well and the rest of our nights were perfect. We had rain and snow and fog for our weekend away, and still enjoyed it so much. The staff was able to direct us to a county park that had good skiing away from the weather, which was perfect.

We have stayed in many of the resorts up on the north shore, and this is one of the best ones. Staff is great, and many amenities. There are good quality bikes to ride, indoor and outdoor games, Outdoor hot tub is great. The internet connection is bad, but we didn't really need it. We stayed in one of the guest rooms in the upper level of the cottage right across from the main lodge, and like others have said, they are TINY. just a bed and a closet. The one thing that I would think that they would tell people, is that the air conditioning is not turned on yet, and the room was really warm. Also, because of that fact, the windows have to be open, and there is a non stop bonfire right outside the window, so our room smelled like smoke AND the food from the lodge the whole weekend, and it was noisy! Kids playing right outside the window. Would have been really nice to be able to close our window and block some of the smells and noise. When I mentioned this to a staff member, she just said, " oh, so you got to smell the bonfire all weekend!" would probably return, just pick a different room!
