L'Artisan French Bistro - Café du Midi

Almost unassuming from the outside, but don't let that fool you. The whole experience is excellent! Everything was perfect. The service was stellar and the staff are friendly. The food was absolutely tasty - every course was a delight. The flavours were great and well balanced. It made for an amazing evening.

Came for the horseoux desert and we had a lovely experience trying different ones! The decoration was gorgeous and the creme brûlée was great as well. However the coffee definitely needs to be improved. The different coffee were not very well made and some of them were very strong. The staff were nice and the main courses looked amazing so would love to come back for it.

Beautiful food aside what a lovely owner. It speaks volumes when one of the take away memories was the quality of service and social interactions. This is a proper French restaurant. All the staff members mother tongue is French. A healthy number of the clientele were French too, which speaks volumes for the quality of the adopted cuisine. The food was excellent, an amuse bouche was followed by seasonal mussels and one of prettiest, and delicate desserts I’ve had the pleasure of eating. An enjoyable French experience in Cheltenham. Why head to France? Make sure you book well in advance.

A lovely restaurant, we were pleasantly surprised. The food was amazing, flavour & presentation, out of this world. The staff were professional and really friendly. My wife and I will certainly be dining here again. The chef coming out and talking to us after our meal made the whole experience quite personal, a great touch. Compliments to all at L’Artisan, we were celebrating our 10th year anniversary and my wife absolutely loved the evening.

A fabulous independent family run traditonal French Restaurant (actually run by a French family), which puts many of the so called French inspired restruant to shame. We ordered from the set lunchtime menu (two or three courses), which was good value with two choices for each course & freshly prepared. I would definitely recommend & also suggest you book ahead as the restruant was close to full when we arrived.

Having lived in France for over 12 years, we always search out a French restaurant when travelling the UK. We were NOT disappointed with Yves excellent menu and Elizabeth’s friendly and attentive hospitality. Loved the aperos, starter and main, did I mention pudding too? We got to brush up on our rusty French too. We’ll be back and bring friends next time. Thank you. Merci beaucoup pour ce déjeuner excellent.

Excellent meal & friendly service as always! One of our favourite restaurants in Cheltenham, always perfect for a special occasion.

I tried to book a table at l’Artisan literally for years, but every time there was a special occasion they were unfortunately closed or some other problem occurred. So this time I decided to pick a random day just to go and finally try this restaurant and I’m so glad I did it. The ambiance was nice, candles on the table, everything looked really elegant, the only downside is that it’s a tiny place so tables are quite close to each other. I had the ravioli as a starter, followed by the duo of duck, while my partner had the scallops and the beef fillet. Honestly the starter where amazing to see but I felt like my ravioli were missing something, maybe they were a bit too delicate in flavour. But the highlight of the dinner was definitely the duck, it was simply amazing and I loved every single bit of it. For dessert we ordered a cheeseboard and the chef’s special, the Horsechoux, which is available in different flavours and is in the shape of a horseshoe to represent the town of Cheltenham. I loved our meal from beginning to end and would definitely recommend this restaurant.

My boyfriend and I had such a special time there! It's located near the main street of Cheltenham. Once you enter the restaurant, you can feel the warm and cosy atmosphere. We dined on the first floor which had a special French ambience. There were some beautiful paintings on the wall, which made me feel like we were dining at museum. Oh the food was AMAZING! I was delighted with every bite! Especially the starter of scallops and king prawn was beautifully cooked. The combination of seafood and pie was absolutely delightful. The staff were cheerful and their service was remarkable. We will definitely visit there again soon!

My wife and I spent the night in Cheltenham on our way to Bath. We were not intending to visit Cheltenham, but the recent heatwave caused us to cancel our Broadway hotel due to lack of air conditioning. We not excited by our dinner choices, but I went on Yelp and discovered L'Artisan had an excellent review and was nearby. We were very much delighted with the excellent service and great food. The young waitress who served us, although wearing a badge announcing she was a "trainee", was the best service person we have had since arriving in the U.K. two weeks ago. The owner/hostess welcomed us warmly and was a very gracious host throughout our meal. L'Artisan exceeded our every expectation.
