Hotel Las Brisas Mérida

WARNING: THIS IS NOT A 5-STAR HOTEL!! I don't get all these great reviews (are they even real !?). Las Brisas is by no means a 3, or 4 star hotel and not even remotely a 5 star hotel as is advertised. Before our trip even started we requested a car for transport from the airport which was quoted at $100 USD for a 1-way 20 min ride. DO NOT use this service. We located an alternative that cost only $20 and Uber is also available anywhere from $6-$20USD. Las Brisas thinks they can scam tourist! Use Uber or anything else (they work just fine). Upon arrival we tried out their restaurant on the 2nd floor that had nothing but pizza and pasta available -- not even tacos that were on the menu. We attributed it to arriving late in the day but as our stay went on, the menu advertised constantly was out of almost everything. Sink in bathroom was clogged, AC in our room turned off twice at noon hottest part of the day and the bathroom had a sewage smell (yuck)! The very slow and inadequate service from the attendants from various parts of the hotel including the front desk, room service, restaurant staff, bar staff etc made the stay extremely frustrating. During the 7 night stay we had to request turnover service every single day. Not once did we leave the room and come back to have any beds made or towels replenished (this is 6 years after COVID, there is no excuse). We had a massage appointment and to our surprise the massage has to be done in your room as they don't have any other place to do it (we were not informed prior). The pool was beyond depressing. The Bar never opened and the glass behind the water looked waaay over due for a cleaning. Overall the prices this hotel has vs it's overall quality DO NOT align. Expensive, lacking general cleaning practices, inability to communicate or provide timely service are just some of the issues. The location is also not good at all. Nothing worth walking to, only 2 cafes near by that were horrible and just about everything you may want to see you'll have to take a car. The design of the hotel has so much potential but untill they RETRAIN their entire staff, I DO NOT RECOMMEND this hotel. DISAPPOINTING at best. Go somewhere else -- price will be the same and I'm sure you'll be in a nicer area with better service.

Our room was not ready when we arrived. Several hours later we got our room but there were many deficiencies. We spoke to them in the morning but by late afternoon nothing had been fixed. Eventually they moved us to another room. The one bright spot was the the bellman David. He was friendly and very helpful. The rest of the staff seemed to be uninterested.

We liked being downtown. We attended the 484th Anniversary of Merida, thanks to the door man. We also went to the central park to see flamingos, monkeys, iguanas and crocodiles. We loved the breeze passing through the artistic architecture. We enjoyed the infinity pool, the elevator, the gym and everything felt new and clean. Las Brisas feels more like home than one of the major brand hotels.

Impeccable service, room and the tub on the balcony of the suite was icing on the cake. I really enjoyed my time here and on the night of the eclipse I was able to watch from the tub. Only thing I would change is the dinner we ordered. Fish of day and ravioli. We were a bit disappointed and had to order in from elsewhere. The room had a light flashing all night, but was able to close off the bathroom sliding door to block it. So just do that. We did not want to bother the staff. Very quiet, comfortable bed and serene views from the pool. Will consider another stay.

Fantastic trip: An unforgettable trip to a place that wasn’t originally at the top of my mind, but has now become one of my favorites. Exceptional attention to guests in a very high-level property, with rooms offering every comfort, an excellent gym and swimming pool, and a relaxing, comfortable atmosphere.

Terrible arrival. Front desk was trying to charge me for hypothetical charges. Not an open voucher for incidentals, literally a resort fee that should have been included in the price, but she wasn’t sure it was wanted to keep an open charge for this on my card. It felt so scammy to demand this. Then I was led to a room with zero natural light the one window and balcony face into another window and balcony. Save yourself the trouble and book elsewhere.

My mom and I travelled to Mérida in July 2023 and as I've been reminiscing on the trip through old photos, I am reminded of the exceptional service we received at Las Brisas. Truly some of the most excellent hospitality not just in Mexico, but the world. The in-house chefs produce the most delicious takes of traditional Southeastern Mexican cuisine, squeeze the freshest juices, and of course, this is all accompanied by the gorgeous restaurant interior. The hotel is top-notch and stunningly designed. However, I must say that the highlight of our trip was how Alberto took care of us with his housekeeping. He is kind, detail-oriented, and left our suite sparkling. It is clear that he takes great pride in his work, providing patrons with five-star service. Gracias, Alberto! Nunca olvidaremos tu generosidad.

Overpriced wines considering the low quality. Poor quality of food. No service at the pool area. Dirt stains on sofas.
