We stayed at Las Cabañas Resort for six nights (two bookings: 2 nights + 4 nights). Let me be clear: the location is gorgeous — warm, swimmable water, a nice pool — and some staff, especially Mr Jojo, were genuinely helpful. The workers who assisted with our luggage made our arrival possible; without them, carrying bags over the sand would have been nearly impossible. I tipped them, but the fact that this assistance was essentially mandatory already highlights poor planning.||Unfortunately, almost everything else about this resort fell far short of reasonable expectations:| • Access & evenings: Expect a 10–15 minute walk, mostly through sand. Evenings are dead quiet — this is a family beach, not a nightlife area — and poorly lit. Anyone not aware will be unpleasantly surprised.| • Cash-only & excessive deposits: Every small item required a deposit (towels, keys, etc.). For a resort booked through reputable platforms, this level of mistrust is absurd. Reclaiming a 500-peso towel deposit took nearly 10 minutes and involved being questioned as to whether I was a guest.| • Guest verification & walk-ins: On multiple occasions, while simply sitting on the beach, I was asked to prove I was a guest. Meanwhile, walk-in visitors regularly use the facilities and take beach beds, leaving paying guests without space.| • Wedding / blocked access: A wedding took over parts of the resort during our stay, and no prior notice was given. With such a small resort, this was highly disruptive.| • Laundry disaster: Paid laundry returned our clothes stained. This is not a minor issue — personal property was damaged — and nothing was offered to resolve it. This is unacceptable.| • Water pressure: Weak showers made daily use frustrating.| • Health / emergency response: My brother became ill during a tour (not caused by the resort). Staff offered only tea; we had to locate a pharmacy and seek medical help ourselves. A resort of this type should have proper training and guidance for health incidents.| • Pricing & services: On-site food and massage services are noticeably more expensive than nearby alternatives.| • Breakfast: Fine, but adding cheese and yogurt would make a meaningful improvement.||The resort has potential, but the repeated failure to handle basic guest needs and repair damages is astounding. After reviewing past public replies from the ownership, there is a clear pattern: polite acknowledgments, vague promises to “do better,” but no real solutions for affected guests.||For anyone reading this, note that the resort is beautiful but runs on unprofessional systems, poor communication, and a lack of accountability. Any response from ownership that does not actively address these unresolved issues and make things right for guests who experienced actual loss or damage will only reinforce the pattern of negligence.||We expected a resort-level experience. Instead, we left frustrated, inconvenienced, and with property damaged. Future guests deserve clarity and assurance that the problems we encountered will be properly corrected.
