The staff were extremely friendly. They were very gracious. My daughter and I stayed for 2 nights. Both of our rooms were really nice. They are really travelers friendly.

We did not stay at the hotel, we only had lunch at this location. A local recommended this restaurant as an option for lunch. We had the chuletón with a salad on the side. While the meat was of the highest quality, the taste was just ok. I felt like we had spent a bit too much for what we got.

I highly recommend the restaurant at las Cancelas! Diego, our barman and waiter, was outstanding in service as well as very engaging. In traveling with others two of whom are native to Puerto Rico, shared with the five of us as to the authentic cuisine of the restaurant. I was very pleased with the red wines as well as my starter and main dish: mashed potatoes with pork rinds; a very large, moist and tasty lamb chop. The others had oxtail. This was something new to many of our group but they loved it! I was full but the others experienced a lemon sorbet combined with champagne. They raved glowingly about it. Again, I highly recommend the restaurant at las Cancelas!

Consider this hotel better than 2 stars. Charming service. Parking is available, but difficult to get to at the hotel. I recommend parking outside the walled city and asking staff for assistance.

We went to Ávila in January and had lunch in this restaurant. I had the roast suckling lamb which i expected to be a great dish here but unfortunately the meat was too dry and seemed like it has been cooked 1 day before. The beans dish was good and tasty. The croquettes not amazing. Maybe different time of the year the roast tastes differently where there are more tourists and food can go quicker. The interior terrace is beautifully decorated.

Fantastic food and service. Cheesecake is great. Very good location in the old town

This small, family-run hotel is quiet and clean, but not as quaint/special as it appears in the photos. It is more on the funky side of the spectrum than anything. No real views as it’s along a narrow street next to the cathedral & the windows are high up under the roof line. The restaurant dinner menu may have been authentic, but we didn’t find it particularly appetizing as Californians — same with minimal breakfast options. No way to get coffee or tea in room, no mini-frig, etc. If I were to visit Avila again, I might try something just outside the walls with a more substantial breakfast option and the kind of amenities that make a multi-day stay enjoyable. That said, the staff were kind.

A nice old building tucked away on a narrow street next to the cathedral. It also has a delightful outdoor restaurant next to the walls - pricey though. Our room was on the first floor with the small balcony overlooking the walls. You get a lot of conversation from the street with the windows open, but it’s not an issue when they are closed at night - good air conditioning if it gets too hot. The hotel has a traditional feel and is very clean. No lift, but a member of staff carried our cases upstairs. Decent breakfast, but it is extra - 6€. A bonus is the parking - easy to get to, but I recommend watching the YouTube video on their website first. Downside is the cost at 12€ a day.

Yelp
