I have been here one other time and i remember it was good but idk what happened today they gave me rajas gorditas with out the cheese I have never seen that before asked for asada gorditas too I couldn’t even tell that was the filling very disappointed I hope the owner reads this and puts the cook in point. They can do better

I finally decided to go to this place since I been hearing how good the gorditas are here. I order 3 different types. If you are not used to eating spicy food I suggest asking with ones are not spicy. Since most of them are somewhat hot or really hot for others. I was honestly expecting them to be really good but they are just mediocre nothing especially about them. I have eaten better gorditas at regular taco restaurants. The service was slow. If yo hate a person that likes to have a good horchata. Don’t order one here. The horchata is made of powder and had a lot of cinnamon. The guava water was actually not bad. This place is good if you want to eat a cheap meal but don’t order here if you are in a rush because it takes some time for them to be ready.

Been coming here for a while now. No complaints other than make them gorditas bigger bc they’re so good!

While I love their food and service I feel employees shouldn’t be depending on tips, set prices accordingly to pay your employees right and not depend on tips to pay them, as a cash only restaurant you should take care of your employees, the place is always full and that says a lot about the good food, but to put this as a way to say to tip more because your employees depend on it it’s not right. For this same reason I won’t be patronizing this place anymore.

Best food I've ever had. Don't be intimidated by the language barrier.. you can order anything, and you should be satisfied.. prices are more than feasible.. and worth every dollar you spend.. I highly recommend this place to any and everybody..

The green burritos are Soo good! I finally had the gorditas and they were also great! One of the servers seemed kind of grumpy but the 2nd server made up for it. Definitely recommend the food.

I believe the pics speak for itself! The food is amazingly delicious, the staff are nice and fast! I love the horchata.

Staff is so friendly and the ambiance is inviting. Went on a busy Sunday afternoon, had to take the order to-go because it was so packed in there. SO WORTH IT! 🔥🔥🔥 I had rajas con queso, chorizo con papa, and frijoles con queso. Highly recommend the frijoles con queso 😗👌🏽 chef's kiss! Topped it off with the green salsa, and the agua de jamaica was delicious too!

Food is really good but service is very poor. CASH ONLY!!! Luckily I had $50 on me. I def will not be going back. I'm good on the experience. The food didn't make up for the poor service.

This place is always a hit for me. I swing by whenever I'm near and craving Mexican cuisine. This place is known for its Gorditas which is kind of like a small corn cake made out of the dough with a slit in the middle. In that slit, you can stuff your choice of ingredients. This restaurant offers numerous of possibilities that are all so tasty.

Food is alright but the ambience is horrible. Music played to eleven. Zero chance of having any type of conversation. They are cash only and have an atm machine that magically shuts off and rested as it is dispensing money. Avoid this dump.

The service is slow, the place is tiny, and the orders are wrong 1/4 of the time. If you can get past those flaws, the gorditas are awesome! There is a wide variety of flavors and other menu staples as well. Keep in mind, they are cash only. Wait times can be an hour plus on the weekends.

Horrible!! First and last time I ever set foot in this place. Very dirty and disorganized, staff just ignores you after telling you to sit down wherever. Don't know what all the hype is about, if you want to be ignored for about 15-20 minutes this is the place. If I could give zero stars I would but this makes me give one star.

This place has a lot of potential. Mainly because the food is great, but at this point the service outweighs the food. Here is my constructive feedback: 1) cash only: for a new customer, this important info wasn't known. I didn't see this posted on their website nor did the cashier tell me. Good thing they had an ATM BuT not everyone will feel comfortable using an ATM at a local food place because of potential fraud. 2) I made a phone order of a total of 13 Gorditas at 10:20am and arrived at 11am. My food wasn't ready until 11:40. That is way too long for an order to take. I can see possible improvement on management and logistics. I'm also unsure if they started my order once I got there, which is the worst. So basically don't come here during lunch breaks cuz you will be late. 3) this place is really tiny. The likelihood you'll get a table is slim. It's best to order takeout on a day when you are not in a rush. 4) would be helpful to label the food if it's a big order so I know which is which. So which gordota is carne asada and cheese, etc. 5) I feel bad for the cashier. She was managing phone orders, customer orders, and so many other things when it was at 99% capacity which May have led to delays in orders, etc. Well that's my feedback for the day. Am I coming back? No. The food is good. But like I said service outweighs food.

Delicious Authentic Mexican Food !! But very un organized and sometimes they mistakenly over charge you so always double check your receipt. If they can get organized and assign each employee a certain tasks would give them 5 stars .

THE BEST GORDITAS AND BURRITOS!!! I love this place so much, Ill bring whoever. My friend always tells me bring those Gorditas from Durango they're so good. My mom seriously orders like 15 to go after we have eaten there and we eat them the next 2 days lol. We go so often we seriously love this place

Cash only no credit card or debit card. They don't tell you over the phone but wait till you get there and then have attitude with you like you knew or should know that. Smh

Worse experience ever....Cash only is good to know but luckily I had cash at the time but unfortunately didn't have the opportunity to use it. I was informed 30 mins for the order to be ready. I get there only to be told it would take another 20 mins. After another 20 mins I was told they didn't even start making the order and basically told me F U. I asked them to cancel the order after an hr of wasting my time.

WOW! The Gorditas were perfect and delicious but I think it's all about the sauce!!!!! They have two sauces and they are delicious.....I believe it's all about the sauce. The sauce plays a big part to a great Mexican restaurant!!!!!! Service was just ok..... they could do better but the sauce is the BOMB!

The Gorditas here are amazing!!! I am literally going to dream about the rajas y papas con queso Gordita, until I get to eat it again. I highly highly recommend this place if your look for really good affordable Gorditas!

I've come to learn that when my father in law recommends something, I listen. I'm so glad we did! First things first, this place is TINY. There's 5 tables up front and maybe 3 in the back. They are also ridiculously busy!! Phone orders are off the hook here and people kept calling and coming. Huge orders. Obviously this added a significant wait to our food. Gorditas - $1.90 Tacos - $1.40 Want a gallon of menudo? $20! This place is no frills, all flavor. Except the barbacoa, it had no flavor. Very close to 5 stars but no bathroom, cash only and waiting almost an hour really hurt my experience. I'm sure we will be back.

This whole in the wall in Cicero has authentic gorditas. Way too packed and orders take forever so expect a wait. Worth it ? Yes! Phone orders a hot mess. Customer service horrible! I called in at 12:59pm and was told 30 minutes...I walked in 1:35pm and took 15 minutes to get a person. Then when I gave my name and said we don't have an order in that name. You sure you called, Cicero location??? Then took 10 mins to lookup my phone number and wanted my phone to verify which I did and still dumb founded!! It is now 2:16pm. Because if it wasnt for one of the waitresses to step up and say give me your order and I will have them ready asap. No, sorry for your inconvenience, no hey let me take care of this, no nothing. I always come here, but will rethink taking my business else where. Didn't feel appreciated as a long time customer!

Food is great but the service here is a 1. I recommend to come during the week because if you come here on the weekend, you will wait at least 30 mins. or more for your food. CASH ONLY. They say to call in advance to order but it doesn't make much of a difference. Yet their mini gorditas are delicious. They're burritos are also amazing.

They are trash ! They have terrible customer service , I made an order over the phone and they told me it was going to take them 45 minutes for 6 gorditas! That's crazy ! And to make matters worse when I got there they told me they never did the order . This place gets worse and worse I'm done .

The food itself is Delicious ! The ladies cooking the food really know how to gain 5 Stars. However, the servers are horrible nasty attitude and bad customer service . 1 star to them! I was standing in front of the cash register ready to go about my way yet, the server decides to leave, come back, answer the phone , and leave again. Wow! You see me there and can't just stop for minute to run my tab. It wasn't until I finally asked ( 3 girls later) If someone can charge me . I payed and left . This place has been there for a very long time and has good business. It would honestly make it better if they went over with their servers of how to properly serve.

BEST GORDITAS in Chicago, one of the WORST SERVICE in town. Simply put, these are the best gorditas in Chicago. When I friend of mine suggested to go get some gorditas in Cicero, I said "forget it, I'm not going to Gorditas Aguascalientes !!" (those gorditas suck, Im not even wasting my time reviewing that place). He said "It's a different place, you'll like it". Ive been going back ever since, my friend gets mad when I go by myself, lol. The masa (dough) could be better, but the guisados (fillings) are just perfect. My favorites, chicharrón prensado (a sort of carnnitas and meat ends), and "huevo en salsa de molcajete" (scrambled eggs in salsa made by smashing the tomatoes and peppers instead of using a blender). Papas (potatoes in red sauce) are delicious as well, so is the Carne Deshebrada (shredded beef). They have regular size burritos, as they are supposed to be, regular size flour tortilla with your choice of fillings, served with just the filling, not rice, beans, cheese, none of that nonsense. They ask u, though, if u want your burrito with mayonnaise, which is weird to me, but I'm not from Durango, so that might just be the way they do it over there. SERVICE: If u call in your order, they'll tell u that it will be ready in 20 mins!! and still, u get there, and sometimes it's not ready!! One time we ate there, there were just another 3 tables, and it took us at least 20 mins to get our food, it wasn't even busy. In another occasion, it was a rainy, very rainy weeknight, we didn't think it was gonna be that crowded, but it was, we got there, people were standing waiting for their turn, as people sitting at some tables left, the ones standing up started to look at each other wondering which one of us was next, none of the staff said anything, it was like the Bush administration during hurricane Katrina, no body knew what the hell was going on, no body knew what to do.... one would think that they'd give u a number or have u check your name in to have some control. Great Gorditas, VERY POOR Management, VERY POOR Coordination.

Don't waste your time here. You're going to spend your money and get horrible service here. The food takes for ever! Sometimes they don't acknowledge that you are even present. You have to ask for a waitress. This place sucks!! You're better going to "Las Gordillas" in little village The food is bomb!! And they have great customer service!!

Im glad I went to their Melrose Park location first before visiting this Cicero location because otherwise I'd be turned off by the business. It simply does not compare..Im not sure if because we got there close to closing time..but the gorditas were greasy as hell and the filling was dismal...also I'm not one to shy away from hole in the wall places but this one was dirty and just looked a bit run down..again nothing like their Melrose Pk location..even the service is more attentive..I really like their gorditas...so now I know which one to go to.

Food is good just don't come hungry the service is slow and takes forever just to get a waitress to come to the table

The Gorditas are decent and the burritos are good. The food deserves average rating. What made me give this restaurant a 2 star review is their customer service. I've had 2 issues that are pretty significant to me and I most likely won't visit their establishment because of them. 1. I went there on a Sunday morning to order takeout, the cashier said that it was a 45 min wait for take out orders. Huh, what, excuse me? The menu isn't that big. Why is there a 45 min wait for takeout? 2. I went on a weekday, the sign on there door states they close t 9 but it was closed at 7. Customers and staff still inside and no one bothered to open the door to let us know why the doors were locked. No eye contact or anything. They just watched us struggle trying to open the locked door with confused faces. Never going back.

I am from Durango and these guys make gorditas that remind me of my grandma's. Chile pasado and queso? yup they have them. The prices are worth it. Not the healthiest but it is tasty. I love the vegetarian options they have. Cant wait to go back. Cash only

This place looks like a straight up dive!!! But good luck getting a table!!! Im here now and there's people standing waiting to get some DELICIOUS GORDITAS ESTILO SANTIAGO PAPASQUIARO!!!! These are HANDS DOWN my favorite.I will and do try to make it in here often.Totally recommend!!! Im giving them 5 STARS!! And its ALL BASED ON THE FOOD.Cause like I said,place looks like a dive.But Its still my favorite go to place for gorditas.

Had them booked marked for the longest. I am crazy about gorditas and specially Durango style gorditas so when I saw that this place had opened I marked them immediately. Time passed and I never made it a point to make it there until last Friday. Met a friend for dinner there around 8 PM. The place needs a little help, it is a little run down but no biggie. I ordered 2 gorditas and 1 burrito. I know that they don't usually come with beans so I asked them to put some. I did not get beans on my food, a little disappointed. The service is nice too but a it needs a little help too. There is a, what it looked as a small room in the back, or it could have been just a few tables in the kitchen. I wonder if the people who sit there get a preferred more authentic menu?? I wanted to eat in the kitchen!!! Maybe next time. The gorditas are actually pretty good, cheesy crunchy pouches of masa filled with some pretty tasty ingredients. Not impressed by their chile pasado though. LGDDA, would totally come back if in the hood, will ask for the kitchen table if possible so I don't get insider envy.

Best gorditas in all Illinois, probably in the whole United States! My boyfriend brought me here and I loved him more ever since! LOL You have to try the Gorditas de requeson con frijoles! One of my favorites!

The gorditas a great and I'll go back for more but for sure call in your order or you'll be waiting a very very long time for your order. We waited almost 45 minutes 6 gorditas...bordering on too much of a wait. The only other thing that was a pain was they didn't accept credit cards...what place doesn't take credit cards I mean come on this is 2014. If you don't take credit cards at least you could have an ATM. I had to walk 2 blocks to the gas station for cash.

This gordotas are no good here! For one they are extremely dry! So I asked for crema and they didn't serve crema with the gordotas so I said okay they have to have aguacate here... so I order a side of aguacate. Nope they didn't server their gordotas with avocado either! I was mine blow! Not only was I upset oabout the food quality here but my 10 year old brother was as well. His exact words "this gordita needs more flavor"

Lol I saw lots of messages and it makes me laugh that people said they are soo good, or the best in the USA lol omg , I went to thus place thinking they were good , no flavor at all and bland , me and my wife spend 40 min waiting for this shit? Bad service, how can somebody mess gorditas , me and my wife talk about it , till I said they are gorditas from Durango. No offence but everything from Durango food related sucks, , people go try them you see what I see, everyone knows a good gordita you fry the masa, and put refry beans your chose of stew like chicharron because they don't even have chicharron,and lettuce Mexican fresh cheese and a good salsa, thus people don't know how to do a good gordita , and with confidence I challenge them to a gordita off.

Delicious, quick, agua de guayaba was amazing and they had a cool older group play live music! Love it!

My husband loves this place. Don't know why!! You gotta be from Durango to get service and possibly to get good food. The concept is good but only Durangenses get the star treatment the rest of us only the leftover service. I got no patience for this.

Vegetarian delicious! I'm vegetarian and walked in seeing all Spanish meat words on the menu. I almost left. The place was packed but there was enough seating. I asked what they had vegetarian and they had a ton of options. And all were delicious. Bean and cheese Gordita Potatoes and peppers Gordita. Egg and red sauce Gordita. Will be back soon!!!! So delicious. Don't let the "hole in the wall" look drive you away!

The food is amazing and honestly the best Gorditas ever. It's a great place to bring the family and it's not expensive. The people are great.

They make excellent burritos estilo durango but they seem to make them smaller every time I've bought them so I stopped. They also never have seating because they're so busy and they only have a handful of tables. Even when I plan to eat there, I end up just ordering to go. Taste is pretty good so I definitely recommend.

The only reason why I'm giving them 3-stars is due to the food quality and how delicious it is. This place has some of the best gordotas I've ever had. But with this place come some rude employees who do not take into consideration that you are dinning in. The wait staff take their sweet time to come and take your order and as well as coming to check up on you if anything else is needed. I love the gorditas but my dining in experience stopped due to one time ordering an extra Gordita waiting for 30 min to later call over a staff member to find out they never made it. Staff is always in a hurry talking to each other or just in a bad mood.

The food itself is ok,nothing to rave about. What made me give 2 stars is the service. It sucks the waitress we had today was rude, rushing us to order and when I asked for an order to go she said,"it's going to take a long time" I said ok it's fine and she just walked away. I finally got to place my order when she decided to come back. Maybe she shouldn't be waiting tables if she doesn't have the patience to do so. She is clearly not a people person. I bet they have lost a lot of customers or potential customers because of the customer service skills she lacks! They need to teach her how to do her job the right way

Very slow service!! I walked in and got in line to order and out of the four girls working there none of them were nice to ask if i wanted to order I had to ask one of them If I had to sit down for them to pay attention to me because I needed to order. They were not busy at that time so after 15 mins of waiting to order I finally told them my order and the lady told me that it was going to take 15 mins for the 4 gorditas.... 20 mins passed by and nothing.... 30 mins passed and still nothing so I had to go and ask if my food was ready and the cashier was fixing and order somebody order and they were waiting for an hour because they didn't have it ready anyway when I finally asked her she told me ohhhh it's been ready!!! Like wtf??!! And you are just telling me right now?? This happens a lot of times and this time I dicided to not come back since their service sucks and the food is not as good it just happens to be so close to my house and I wanted to try their food but as much as my husband and I tried this place we won't come back. To finish the story the cashier gave me the food and was trying to charge me again when I told her a few times that I had paid already and I even showed her the receipt but I guess she didn't even listened to what I was saying until I told her really mad that I had paid already and raised my voice for her to listen to me. I'm not a rude person I am a really nice person but this place really makes me get mad every time I go there, in general this place sucks and the only reason why is always busy is because the food is really cheap with $20 dls two people can eat and have a drink. Anyway don't waste your time coming to this restaurant is not worth it!!!

The best gorditas in the Chicago area. Good quality and excellent salsas. They're very small but delicious, and @ $2, i can handle 3-4. But be warned, as others have mentioned, the wait times are a trial.

They have a variety of gorditas and the prices are very reasonable. I would recommend the gorditas de chicharrón and frijoles con queso. You also have to try the agua de horchata.

Im gonna say this is probaly the best Mexican restaurant I been to this year great food great prices and remember cash only spot they should expand this bussiness its a hidden gem will be back

First time going there & I was simply disappointed. Cashier took over 5 mins to get a hold of me and I was in front of them. The gorditas have no flavor. The one in Melrose park are definitely way better. I will not be going back there.

Favorite gorditas here in Chicago! I love the fillings,carne roja con papas,Chile con rajas,you name it. They reminded me of my grammas gorditas growing up. I would say estilo Durango. The place is pretty small but worth the trip.Simply delicious.

This spot is amazing and well worth the drive from downtown Chicago. I had the gal pick the 3 most popular. They were all delicious but the potato, cheese and poblano pepper one was the jam! They have lots more and I will definitely be back... oh and the 2 hot sauces are both excellent!!!

The restaurant was clean and the food was good. I wasn't blown away but I was satisfied and the prices were really reasonable.
