My wife & I spent a Saturday night at this resort. That's all of the time we had fit into our itineary. We really wanted to experience a Panama beach, on the Pacific side, before flying back to Panama City. This resort is only a 45 minute drive from David's airport. I found this to be a very interesting place to stay. It's a very nice resort, but not really crowded. However, all our fellow guests were friently and nice. The room wasn't super fancy, but it was fine. Yes, some of the landscaping is a little rough around the edges, but nothing intolerable; kind of like a state park.
The actual resort areas and pool all were very nice and well kept. The staff, service and food also was very good. In fact I was very tired and stressed-out from several hours of driving, lastly thru David when we arrived early Saturday evening. The staff were very attentive to get me all I wanted from the bar as I unwound, and their prices were very fair. The Sunday breakfast buffett also was good. After checking out at noon on Sunday, we also stayed around on the veranda for lunch and some afternoon time, as we delayed our drive back to David to catch our late afternoon flight. The fish we ordered for lunch was great, as were the drinks.
The beach is HUGE, but clean and scenic! I was amazed at how expansive and empty it was. The surf was pretty heavy; it remineded me of LA's surf at Venice Beach (I guess that's the Pacific for you). The resort is set back a bit from the shore, but they have a walk-way toward the open sand & ocean. Upon returning, they also have a open shower to rinse sand off your feet when you return from swimming. BE CAREFUL not to walk barefoot across the sand on a sunny day. It's black sand (gray, actually) so it gets REALLY HOT from the sun. Wear beach shoes or sandals, as I almost burned soles of my feet!
I wondered why this place isn't totally crowded. It's kind of in an out of the way location, sort of on a road that ends at the beach. Also, the surf makes it a bit challening to just float around in the water. And there's also the hot sand. Perhaps these are reasons why it's not super crowded. But I will return and stay here again if I'm ever back this way in Panama. It's very fairly priced, a short drive to David's airport, and a nice place to relax, drink, dine & spend some beach-time on the Pacific.
