THE GOOD||- This place is stunning!! The water views are incredible, the grounds are teeming with flowers, immaculately kept yet seemingly wild (in all the best ways). You can see the most gorgeous sunsets just sitting on your couch!||- This is an ideal spot if you'd like to be off the beaten path and closer to nature than a noisy town.||- The casitas and villas are tastefully decorated in a classy, local style, with just about the right amount of furnishings||- The air-conditioning works extremely well... And it is needed.||- There is a decently stocked kitchen and a full sized fridge ||- They supply unlimited, purified water in 5 gallon jugs – no disposable water bottles needed!||- There was a generous platter of fresh fruits (that lasted us 5 days) and a full bag of delicious organic coffee upon arrival||- There are two bathrooms! Even in the one bedroom Casita. Which unfortunately can comes in handy when traveling in Mexico. Each bathroom had abundant shampoo, conditioner, soap, and mosquito repellent.||- The maid service is extremely thoughtful and thorough. They anticipated our needs without us needing to ask even.||- You can hike down 10 minutes to an unspoiled, mostly empty bay beach with sometimes-amazing snorkeling||- Each Villa has an infinity pool overlooking the water and the Casitas all have access to one as well||- It's a $5/10 minute taxi to most places ||- The hotel is gated and feels fairly safe.||THE NOT-SO-GOOD||- The mattress is firm... like really firm. I personally prefer softer. I would probably request a mattress topper upon returning.||- There is no restaurant on site. ||- You can walk down to a local beach and get seafood which we found to be overpriced. ||- The hotel offers grocery shopping services, but with limited items and a $50 + 10% of the bill it's better to take a taxi to the supermarket and enjoy a huge selection of items.||- The hotel also offers cook services. They supply a menu, but you're responsible for paying for the food as well as the cooking. In the end, we didn't find this to be our best option.||- I highly recommend renting a car if you are staying here. Taxis were mostly convenient, but sometimes didn't show up on time when we needed them to the most.||-We had a couple of miscommunications about checkin and checkout times. You may wish to triple confirm those!||- The hotel recommends an expensive taxi service from the airport. For a third of the cost, you can walk 200 m down the street to catch a taxi. ||-I found it helpful to think of this place more of an Airbnb than a resort. They have services available, but it's not their primary focus. Their focus is the beautiful room and grounds they provide.||-Playa Violin unfortunately had a lot of trash floating around in the water and sometimes a lot of jellyfish! This has nothing to do with the hotel, though. It's just worth noting since it is one of the hotels' greatest advantages being just a few steps away from this beautiful beach!
