During my first trip to Barcelona I discovered this local gem through Yelp when I wanted seafood late at night close to where I was staying. I loved the food and the restaurant so much I went each of my remaining nights in the city. Each time I tried some thing new and brought more and more friends. They were just as impressed as I was with the charming, simple yet refined decor and similar perfected menu. Lascar does seafood and does it well.
Night one, I was solo and followed the recommendations of my amazing servers - SUA & DELPHINE. I began with two Parmesan Scallops and could have eaten twenty they were that flavorful, simply delightful. I enjoyed a glass of wine while I waited for my main course, ceviche with sea bass, prawns, and octopus in a green sauce (there are other sauce options but be sure to upgrade to include all 3 seafood items). Finally i enjoyed a perfectly portioned, red fruit cheesecake for dessert. Followers by a mini version of their pisco drink, The Porn Star, flavored with passionfruit and vanilla.
The second evening I returned with a couple friends who also raved after they tried the Scallops. We shared some diced roasted potatoes which were seasoned and enhanced with a sauce to die for (I wish I could have gotten the recipe). I waited for my main course, the house specialty, GRILLED OCTOPUS. It was everything i could hope for and more. For dessert I had a yummy lemon merengue.
My final time I came with all of my travel companions and a local friend (who commended my choice he had been there many times) I loved my SALMON POKE bowl. My friends all had the OCTOPUS. And we toasted Lascar with our Pisco cocktails.
I highly recommend you come hungry and try EVERYTHING. You will be so glad you did. They are quite popular so you may want to phone ahead for a table especially larger groups as it is an intimate restaurant.
Kudos to the owner, Robert and his business partner for the concept and perfect execution in Barcelona and their other locale I must visit in Madrid.
