Absolutely amazing tour that took our breath away thanks to a great guide who knew how to create an atmosphere. Although it is only possible to visit a model of the cave, the visit felt completely authentic. The whole tour is top notch and I highly recommend it.

Must see!! I am delighted that they made this replica cave so we could all see experience without damaging the original cave. It is made with 3D printing process within 1 mm of accuracy. The guild was very professional and provided various hypotheses for us to think and process. Very well done!

Time travelling. We really enjoyed the visit, and so did the children. A great family activity to learn about the great cave paintings. A wide range of painting techinques spanning centuries of mark-making. Incredible that it has been so well preserved.

It could have been 5 stars, except that there were so many people on our English-speaking tour that we really couldn't see the paintings that the guide was describing. There was a large exhibition hall that we visited independently after the tour, which helped us to understand the caves a lot better. All in all, I'm pleased we went. Just wish my French was better, their tours were one third the size of the English one. Beautiful grounds.

Great tour and fantastic reproduction. Feels like you’re really there. Great explanations. Only downside was that I wish the cave part was longer.

See also below!! I was directed to Lascaux II which might have been my fault. Here is my review of that experience - Incredibly disappointing. You have to go on a tour (virtually all in French) and when I arrived I’d have to wait two hours for the next one. Very tourist hostile. Having noticed my error I went to the main exhibition, which the vast majority of visitors head for, contained in a vast low rise modern concrete complex. It is a modern reconstruction of the ancient cave painting which exist in a nearby cave. They describe it as the Sistine Chapel of the Stone Age. I have to say that throughout my visit I likened it to going to The Louvre to see a fake Mona Lisa - it’s just not the real thing. I wouldn’t take anything away from the reconstruction which I assume is accurate. When I bought my expensive ticket (€22) I used my school boy French so was included on a French tour - I wasn’t offered anything else - and it was very hard to understand very much. At the end of the tour of the ‘cave’ there is the opportunity to see more modern copies using a hand-held audio guide. Sadly the technology was complicated and very difficult to navigate. Not tourist hostile this time big but far from a satisfactory experience. I would only recommend if you are very interested in pre-history and cave paintings are you thing. Otherwise you won’t miss much by not visiting.
