Google
A big shout-out to Teresa — a knowledgeable, fun, and fantastic locomotive engineer and guide! She made our ride truly special by getting everyone onboard to sing “Happy Birthday” to my 11-year-old granddaughter. An unforgettable moment, and definitely a must-do while in Helena. Until next time — yeehaw!

As always the Last Chance Tour Train tour never fails to make for a great afternoon event with family or friends. Each season I take my grandchildren on this tour and I always learn something new about Helena and its vast history. This year my grandson who is 11 didn't want the tour to end, he was completely absorbed in listening to the conductor and the fun details about Helena he was sharing with us. I highly recommend this 1 hr tour to learn about Helena and its rich history.

Excellent introduction to Helena and a fun tour. It rivals anything I've done in larger markets. Teresa was a fun and informative guide and ticket prices were completely reasonable for a 1 hour tour.

This was our third ride with people visiting us. It is always a fun and informative excursion. The kids always have fun and the guide is very entertaining, full of information and very knowledgeable. It is a fun thing to do for yourself and with family and friends. It doesn't take up your whole day but it gives you ideas as to what to come back and visit separately later. I highly recommend it.

Last Chance Tours is a 1-hour tour around Helena on a cute wheeled train. Our conductor/engineer narrates about the Capitol, local info on the Gold Rush and prominent families, drives by some of the more famous (by local standards) mansions, then takes us down the Last Chance Gulch block of shops. Located next to the Capitol, this is a terrific way to get a feel for the area before heading off on our own. Tickets were $10/senior.

Went with the family. We had a great time. The kids enjoyed the ride while the wife and I were entertained by the tour itself. Lots of interesting history in the capital city of Montana. Things I've never heard of about the city I was born in. So even if you love in Helena it's worth a ride.

We love the Tour Train! What a fun way to see and hear about historic Helena. The employees are so kind and the tour guides/conductors tell the stories in such a fun manner. It was so much fun for us and our young kids!

Google
We don’t normally sign up for kitschy tours. However, our B&B host highly recommended this tour. We are so glad that we did go. In the space of an hour we learned a great deal about the history & geography of Helena on the History Train tour. At only $10 each (seniors) it was a bargain, and highly entertaining. We also got half-price admission to the Natural History Museum, which was a surprisingly well-curated history of the Helena area. It focused on “native” artist Charles Russell, but added a fascinating collection of “People of Montana” portraits by artists from early 1800s to current time. And that was before we entered the Native American History rooms. I could have spent double the time there! A bargain!

Yelp
We were struggling to find things to do in Helena that were dog friendly outside of your typical parks, hikes, etc. We almost decided to just drive through to the next town, but then we saw on travel zoo that someone had mentioned they were allowed to bring their dog on the train at Last Chance Tours. So we took a chance and headed over first thing in the morning. They said we could bring our dog along so we bought tickets for the first tour. I'm so glad we did! The tour was great and the open air bus kept things cool with a breeze even in warm temperatures. The engineer was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and I'm honestly shocked at how much I learned about the history of this town. The kids who had him as their 8th grade history teacher were lucky, indeed.I feel like we got to see it all wrapped up in a neat little bow of a 1 hour tour. The price was incredibly reasonable and if you need to use the restroom before or after your tour you can just walk across the street to the Capitol building. They also offered snacks, drinks and souvenirs for purchase. I highly recommend this to anyone visiting the city. I think even long-time residents would find this a fun, interesting and educational activity.

Yelp
Matt was our tour guide 5 He drove and was very informative. It was about an hour long, open air breeze on this beautiful but hot day. I recommend you taking a ride.

Yelp
Loved this tour! Very informative and such a nice ride on the train through Helena. The Conductor and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Great value for the price of admission. We visited at the end of August and were blessed with beautiful weather the day of our tour. Highly recommend!

All of the staff working at Last Chance Tours are very friendly and accommodating. My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour and would recommend it to anyone in the area!

Yelp
On a warm summer day, how can you beat a one-hour outdoor ride around Helena? The tour train is a perfect way to get oriented to the city and to see where you want to go back and visit. The excellent experience started as soon as we settled into our self-selected seats when our driver/conductor/guide, Liz, came by to punch our tickets. She spent time finding out where we were from, but then really got into it with one of our party, a Power of the Helena Power Family. It turns out that our friend's family home is a spot talked about on the standard tour, so Liz and our friend chatted about local details. The three-car open train is packed with a diverse collection of riders: lots of families with young children visiting local grandparents. The open-air seating gives everyone enough space so that the kids can squeal and squirm without dominating the trip through town. It was a friendly, happy grouping. The narration is excellent, full of facts, fun facts, and probably some pure stories. We started off in the capital area, went though the ritzy areas, old-time miner/mining areas, and circuited back to the start. Liz was talking all the time, but her comments were interesting and never intrusive. The trip is inexpensive, too ($7.50 for adults. $7.00 for seniors). My personal perfect tour would be longer, although I realize children might not hold out for the 2 (or whatever) hours I would have enjoyed. And, my reservations are: 1) Liz was perfect, I don't know how the experience would be with another guide, and 2) our weather was sunny in the 70's -- also perfect. Hotter or colder might have made experience less wonderful.

Yelp
This was a fun experience. We had small kids, teenagers, and adults, we all enjoyed it! The guide was entertaining, and very knowledgeable. This is a great way to see the old Helena.

Yelp
This tour was a lot more enjoyable than I first thought. We get on this mock train car and got driven around the capital building area. It is beautiful with all the old buildings and stories. One of my favorites this was the number of old building there. Most, if not all, are now turned into government buildings.

Yelp
Tour was worth the money, very informative. I learned a lot about the history of Helena and was able to get some nice photos during the tour. You get a chance to see more of the city versus just trying to drive around to see the sights.

Yelp
Informative and enjoyable tour. Good historical background. Staff most responsive. Thanks.
