The Last Word Franschhoek (Franschhoek, South Africa) Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"It’s not the last word in boutique style, or in gilded luxury-hotel opulence, but if discreet comfort is the last word in hospitality, then The Last Word is aptly named. A high-end six-room guesthouse in Franschhoek village, in the South African winelands, isn’t exactly a hard sell in the first place, but when those rooms (and suites) are as tranquil and elegant as these, a bit of boastfulness in the name is more than justified." - Tablet Hotels

We recently used this property as a base to explore Franschhoek and the surrounding winelands. It is perfectly situated on the town's main street whilst still being secluded and quiet. It is also within walking distance of the fantastic Wine Tram terminus. ||Regarding the hotel itself, the room was huge, comfortable and well appointed. Breakfasts were superb, and the general ambience was informal and relaxing. ||Many thanks to Konrad who proactively contacted us before we arrived to arrange dinner reservations at some of the town's well known and celebrated restaurants, considering that it was still peak season. This was greatly appreciated!||Highly recommended.

What a lovely hotel. The room was beautiful, the pool area a perfect place to relax, and the welcome was unbelievably friendly. Everything is small, boutique, and delightful!||||We were only there two nights, but there were so many lovely little touches, especially the little 'pillow deserts' instead of chocolates. A lovely base from which to explore Franschoek. We'd happily come back.

What a beautiful place to stay.!!! Franklin and his wonderful staff left us wanting for nothing.Lovely rooms, exquisite decor and furnishings throughout this fabulous hotel.Even though it is a 5 star property, is just very intimate and doesn't have that stuffiness you can experience at other establishments in this category. I've always said it's the people that make a place and your experience in said place and Franklin and his team manage this in Spades. Also just to say Breakfast is wonderful too.Well done to all and Thank you.

Welcomed by the Manager and accommodated despite an early arrival into our Superior Room (really an extensive suite offering every amenity including white port decanter, drinks fridge and gin!) this hotel is ideally positioned and suited to enjoy the heart of this safe, pretty and welcoming town. Beautiful pool and terraces with a generous free bar: what more could you wish for!?!|It’s the special, individual touches that greet your return to your room each night that we will remember….be it a pillow-treat or a romantic candle illuminated welcome. |

Where do i start here? Chic is the word i would use to describe this property. | The decor throughout is stunning. The location is in the town but you feel cocooned within its walls when you return after your days activities. The staff are gentle and aim to please. The rooms are fab and have a nightly turndown service and left us an unexpected but welcome mini desert. The breakfast was served to you. (Not buffet style) and i loved the way it is served with your own fruit and cheese platter and hot breakfast choice|

My daughter Linda and sister Marie and niece Jenny stayed for three days. Absolutely fabulous. A very warm welcome from the staff and beautiful clean rooms. Breakfast was the best ever. great variety and well presented with amazing friendly staff. A really lovely experience (Frank was very helpful in all aspects.) We would highly recommend it, it lives up to its name The Last Word, and it is The Last word. Hopefully will be back again in the future.

The Last Word is a top class boutique guest house in a great location. It ticks every box and was about the very best accommodation facility I have ever used. The rooms are more spacious than any others I have used, the service standards are the very best and it provided us with a quiet and comfortable environment in which to recover at the conclusion of a demanding month long African tour. I would love to return if ever I was in the area.

We are just checking out from an amazing 2 day stay, a remarkable boutique hotel made even more special by all the staff, Conrad and Franklin are wonderful hosts, we had a pool suite (room 3) which was really lovely, small things that made it even better were the many chargers for all devices in the room, the filter coffee and the evening desserts at turndown, huge space to relax, private pool area and a wonderful breakfast, would definitely recommend a stay here will will certainly return! Thank you for making my birthday weekend one to remember!
