Malaysia Named the Safest Country to Visit in Asia

"Travel + Leisure writer Shivani Somaiya adored exploring the nation's wild side, setting out to visit the country's most beautiful waterfalls; one she highlighted is a multitiered fall in the Cameron Highlands. I Hiked Some of Malaysia’s Most Impressive Waterfalls — Here’s How You Can, Too

"While there are famous falls a few hours outside the city (like Lata Iskandar, a multitiered cascade in the verdant Cameron Highlands), for a taste of Kuala Lumpur’s wild side, choose from these trails, all a short drive from the capital." - Shivani Somaiya

A Scenic Stop Worth Making On our journey down from Cameron Highlands via the Tapah route, we decided to stop by Lata Iskandar, and it proved to be a lovely little stop. The time you spend here really depends on what you’re after. If it’s just for a few photos and to enjoy the view, 15 to 30 minutes will suffice. However, if you’re planning to dip your feet in or explore a little more, you could easily stay longer. There is no entrance fee required for now. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, especially during peak times, as there’s no designated parking area; just roadside spots. Do be careful when stopping because the roads are generally narrower. One of the charms of this location is the abundance of local stalls lining the road. Many of the items sold are handmade, and it’s a good opportunity to browse for souvenirs or local snacks. Public toilets are also available at some of these stalls, generally charging RM1 per use. The waterfall itself is quite stunning and definitely worth a visit, even if it’s just for a short toilet break and to take in the scenery. Highly recommended if you’re using the Tapah route down from Cameron Highlands.

A nice waterfall stop along the way from Cameron Highlands to KL. I don't think you can take a dip here as I didn't see anyone doing that. You can go up to the top but no special views from there. No tickets needed as it's open to the public.

This waterfall was very beautiful and with many green trees around. The only downside is that the road side lack of Parking lot. Many shop lots location were too near the Roadside ! Which were very dangerous for customers shopping here. Hopefully the government can help to improve these situation. The water here is very very cold, you can only soak your legs here

A fun fact about Lata Iskandar: Although many believe it sits in Pahang, it's actually located in Perak, specifically in the Batang Padang district—just before entering Pahang en route to the Cameron Highlands . Here are some more interesting insights: 🌊 Multi-tiered granite cascade: This waterfall features several granite slopes, with a final majestic 25 m drop into a natural pool below—a popular photo spot . 🛍️ Roadside artisanal bazaar: Lined with stalls selling Orang Asli handicrafts, jungle fruits, herbs, even traditional "aphrodisiacs," it doubles as a cultural stopover . 🧗 Easy adventure upgrades: Though perched beside a bustling trunk road, the site now boasts tiled walkways, a concrete bridge, gazebos, restrooms, and staircases leading up to higher cascades . 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 The perfect weekend escape: It’s free to visit, has wading pools ideal for families, and serves as a refreshing pit stop for travelers en route to Cameron Highlands . So next time you cruise up to the highlands, make sure to swing by Lata Iskandar. It’s not just a scenic waterfall—it’s a vibrant cultural hub nestled right by the jungle 🌿.

Easy access, near the main road. There is no proper parking space for cars. Can be dangerous as the road is narrow and winding. No entrance fee.

A beautiful waterfall no doubt! Some amazing butterflies too. Barely any proper parking spaces so we had to park along the main road and could only find a secure spot a couple hundred metres up the road. A few food stalls and knickknack shops. Worth the stop and if you fancy wading you can!
