Lata Medang

The waterfall itself is a 5-star destination, but the hike is longer than some reviews/vidoes lead you to believe—roughly 8-9km round trip. Be prepared for a lot of exposed sun on the first half of the trail. Also, the leeches are very active if its been raining. Wear long socks and bring repellent. It’s a great workout, just come prepared with enough water and good shoes. If you stopped at the smaller waterfall on the way up, it's a nice detail to add.just around 200 meters below. Weekday less people. Had the entire place for myself . Started hike around 7.30am . Highly recommended.

Stunning waterfall at the end of a challenging but rewarding hike. Permit is required. The trail includes river crossings, steep cliffs, and sections with fallen trees and bamboo – so be prepared for some scrambling. It’s an adventurous route, with rocky slides and uneven terrain. Hikers at a moderate pace (rating 2–3) should expect about 3 hours to reach the waterfall and 2 hours to return. Bring plenty of water and food — it’s a long, demanding trek, but the views and experience make it well worth it!

Lata Medang’s waterfall is beautiful and I found peace here. Had great time with friends by hiking into the woods and the whole journey was smooth. I spotted only 1 leech at the waterfall so yeah hikers need to be watch out for that.

Moderate hike, not much steep terrain, waterfall is also very nice. BEWARE OF BEES as our group got attacked by some.... Also try to come early as the parking space is quite limited...

2rm/head fee to enter. There is no actual parking area, so be prepared to park along the narrow road that winds its way to the first small suspension bridge. The road can get crowded so you might have to park far and walk up. The guard informed us not to park next to the bridge as 4wd use that path for entry. There is ample place to camp and picnic along the river and its streams. The water is clear and clean but beware of leaches and sudden waterheads. Rain up the in the hills can create a sudden surge of water.

Lata Medang in Hulu Yam has a series of waterfalls, one of which features like a natural slide. We spent about 5hours for the whole trip, and roughly 2hours hiking in. Terrain was easy and of mainly flat grounds, with some small streams. My main obstacle was the ruined bridge that one has to cross w much caution. Otherwise very doable w lots of family-friendly campsites too! Our first visit was graced by a trio of the friendliest, most brilliant dogs, whom gladly led us into the waterfalls and chilled w us there. They also enjoyed soaking in the cool streams. The highlight of the trip was truly the dogs who made it so extra special w their presence. They're harmless so please don't be afraid of them. It'd be lovely to give them some delicious dog treats after a whole day of guiding (no chocolate pls). ☺️

Entrance at Tapak Berkelah Sungai Pertak. Many stream, nice pool and waterfall along the way. Clear path and well maintained path to Lata Medang. Remember to take left path at 1st junction, right one to Bukit Kutu. Then right path (sloop) at 2nd junction, left one to Makau Waterfall. You will reach Lubuk Mecu first with nice and big pool to swim, then left trail to Lata Medang, about 200m away only. You may play sliding at the lower part of the fall.
