L'Atelier de Candale - Saint-Emilion

Every single dish was full of flavor and freshness! The sauces were light, so we could really enjoy the original taste of each ingredient. We’ve tried many French restaurants in the U.S., but this one completely changed our mind — it’s the best we’ve had! The wine pairing suggestions were perfect, and our server was so friendly and kind. We don’t usually go for dessert, but after such an amazing meal, we had to try the pistachio ice cream — and wow, it was unforgettable. Highly recommend to anyone visiting this area!

We had a really, really lovely meal in this beautiful restaurant. The food was great, and the views were incredible. We were shocked that there was hardly anyone there. It was very quiet and practically empty, but I'm not sure why because it was one of our favourite restaurants ever - everything was delicious and it was even fairly kid-friendly (as far as France standards go).

Been here a few times now. The staff are extremely friendly and speak English. The food is impeccable. Excellent presentation and perfect flavours. The mushroom was nothing like anything i had tasted before. 10/10. €40 for 3 courses. Excellent price for Saint Emillion. Theres outdoor seating and free parking. Also dog friendly!

Had a great lunch with friends! Authentic good quality dishes. Although it was a cloudy and rainy day the views were still such a wonder! We tried the wine from their own vineyard which was good value for the quality . Will definetely recommend this place!

Stunning place in the middle of the vineyards of St Emilion. We had a delicious lunch with fresh meats, fish and yummy vegetables on the terrace. Afterwards Abigail brought us on a tour of the vineyard, brilliantly explaining their method and wines followed by a tasting of their delicious wines.

We had a great time, beautiful location, delicious and beautiful food, great wine and excellent service. I noticed the recent reviews here commenting about service issues, on our experience these have been addressed. We were here for dinner Saturday night, it was very busy, and we were served by quite a big team of young and enthusiastic servers, some of them very experienced and others learning from them. They were clearly working together closely to ensure attentive service. And every dish we had was made to perfection so kitchen must be staffed well too

We really enjoyed the wine and the food here, and had a delightful lunch. The welcome was warm, the views striking and our host Sarah, and her colleague, were very helpful to us— and kind to our dog. A special mention for Sarah, who went out of her way, to help us solve a problem with our car. Such a generous act that makes us feel even more affection for this region. Thank you Sarah!

Gorgeous patio! We stopped by for a bottle of wine after a nearby tasting around 2pm and were impressed with the interior design of the restaurant and open outdoor seating. Unfortunately they do close between 3pm-7pm between lunch and dinner services with the kitchen closing even earlier than 3pm so we were only able to take advantage of their wine menu, but we still really enjoyed our visit. We wanted a light, slightly more fruity white wine and ordered the Château Guiraud Bordeaux Blanc Sec 2022, and it was wonderful. Their outdoor space has a fantastic view of the vineyards and covered seating to protect from the sun or any light rain. Great find!

The setting is gorgeous and the service was very good. We came for dinner on a beautiful night and were able to sit outside which was wonderful. The wine was very good. The fish was much tastier than the steak.

We stopped here today after visiting a few vineyards. In a nutshell, it was delicious. We had a salad of toast with goat cheese, lettuce and an egg. Nice! Next we had roast beef and potatoes with a reduction sauce. So very good! Dessert was a lava cake with whipped cream and a chocolate sauce. Num!

OMG - this place is worth flying to France for. I wish I could give it six stars or seven stars. The wine was fantastic, the food was fantastic, the service was fantastic, but best of all was the setting in the middle of an active vineyard. See photo. We will definitely be going again.

Lunch on Day 2 of our St Emilion was at this lovely spot! After having tasted some wines in the morning, we drove a few minutes to this sunny lunch spot. We were greeted by the super friendly staff with smiles. There was a lunch prix fix and a tasting menu but because we had some heavy meals the last few days, we opted for the prix fix lunch which included a starter, main and a dessert. Who knew that this meal would turn out to be such an amazing meal?!! They put a tin of paper thin straight out of the oven bread crisps with some cheese and paprika on our table and the moment we had our first bit, we knew we were in trouble. It was so thin you could see the person sitting across from you face. The flavor packed a punch even though it was very simple paprika and cheese. The brightness of the paprika and cheese were such a great combination. We found ourselves inhaling those within what felt like seconds and another tin magically appeared on the table with the blink of an eye. Starters Cured Fish With Clementine Peel This was delicate and when paired with the slight tanginess of the sauce and clementine peel, a flavor bomb! Poached Egg On Birds Nest Mushrooms Lardon I thought this would be super heavy based on the name but somehow they managed to make this taste really good without filling me up as a girl still had her main and dessert to EAT!! The runniness of the poached egg when eaten with the crispy birds nest mushrooms and lardon was an amazing meeting of different textures. Nomz!!!! Mains Guinea Fowl Love me some gamey meats. However, this was not gamey at all!! It was tender and well marinated. Not salty but just right. Just right to taste the game flavor even though it was just a touch below gamey. How can be achieved I wonder??!! Cod Lemongrass Spring Onions Baby Carrots I am often a little apprehensive of eating fish in restaurants bc a lot of places overlook their fish. This place DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Cod came out perfectly cooked. Not one second overcooked or one second undercooked. The fragrant lemongrass permeated the cod and spring onions and baby carrots gave it some sweetness. Dessert Chocolate Mousse. Clementine. White Chocolate Meringue A very good combination of flavors. Not heavy at all. The clementine cut through any possible heaviness. Chocolate mousse was airy and light. White chocolate meringue and the dots of tangy sauces that decorated the plate were a great pairing with this. Poached Pear. Sesame Brittle. Chestnut Creme OMFG!!! This was BOMB! The French really do excel at making what appear to be heavy desserts in America taste so well balanced!!!! How How How?!! This poached pear had a light sweet fruit flavor. The sesame brittle was buttery and crunchy...it's been a hot second wince I had this but I still vividly remember the flavor in my mouth! And the marron creme....OH LA LA!!! Staff was super on point, friendly and accommodating. They didn't speak too much English but we managed to meet in the middle! The attention to detail of the food was impressive. I would definitely return next time I'm in the area!
