Lato Boutique Hotel

Two days before I go l booked a room with see view by phone for £85 but the man talking to me was very nice so he made it £75.when I got there, they told me that l never booked my room but I had an E-mail for evidence . Then they found me a very small room but at least it has sea view. I wasn't really happy because me and my daughter where a bit squeezed . Also the room service wasn't always open. The man there though was very nice and even if he was new he knew what to do at that case. But I was also surprised about the hotel allowing animals.

Nice staff. I stayed in the off season and got a room upgrade. The balcony of the superior room is huge and the sea is partly visible. The rooftop restaurant was closed because of the weather, it was extremely windy. It's located very close to the main attractions. The noise from the nearby airport isn't noticeable. My only complaint is that the shower is kind of open so water gets everywhere. A taxi from the airport costs about 18€. Breakfast has a huge selection.

We booked into The Lato Boutique in Heraklion because it has some good reviews. We arrived at the hotel and took the lift to the top floor where our room was. As the lift doors opened my 60 year old wife was nearly knocked to the floor by a group of four 15 – 16 year old teenagers, who it turned out were staying there with their teachers from a local school on some sort of trip. They ran into the lift laughing and clearly had no consideration to what had just happened. That should have been a warning to us for what was to follow.||When we returned to the Lato Hotel after a pleasant evening in town at about 22:00 we decided to have a glass of wine and go to bed. While we were drinking our wine the teenagers from the school were running in and out of each other’s rooms and screaming at each other as they did so. When we went to bed we asked them to please be quiet. This only prompted even louder noise outside our room. Eventually, unable to sleep we contacted the duty manager by phone about the noise. Nothing was done and the noise continued. After some time we called the duty manager anther two times. However the last call only made the teenagers hammer on our door! At which point I got up and shouted at them. They just ran away laughing.||About ten minutes later we had a call from the duty manager complaining that an angry man had made physical threats to the “Children!” I am a 67 year old man with only one functional lung, high blood pressure and a pacemaker. I have never been physically aggressive to anybody I my life, and am now in now physical condition to be threatening to anybody. Anyway the noise continued just as bad, so in the small hours of the morning with no support from the duty manager we had to leave and drive the 1.5 hours home to get soe sleep.||I full accept this is not my country and other countries have different social standards to those of us coming from Western Europe. So if this is how these teenagers want to behave in their own country to their own social standards then of course they can. My only conclusion and advise to foreign travellers is that the Lato Hotel is not really suitable for Western European Tourists. If you wish to experience the legendary Cretan hospitality and welcome, go to another hotel, this hotel is not for you, don’t expect any support from the duty management if there is a problem with local guests.

This hotel was well-placed close to the port if you plan to take a ferry over to any of the islands. We had one of the rooms at the top with a huge patio overlooking the harbour. We enjoyed our stay. The room was a decent size, could use some updating or fixing broken tiles or baseboards. Nothing major. The little restaurant overlooking the water is fabulous for dinner or a nitecap. We would go back for sure.

As opposed to previous reviewer - we stayed three nights in the main hotel building.||We had booked superior sea view room with balcony overlooking harbour. Room was in fact two rooms, bedroom and lounge room, plus bathroom and walk in wardrobe.||Room very comfortable, clean with fabulous views over the harbour.||Word of CAUTION : - |If booking this room or similar - the bathroom has a spa/jacuzzi with high sides almost 1.5 m in height, having recently suffered a knee injury- recovering- found accessing the shower enclosed within glass- very difficult- if not dangerous to enter/exit. There are no hand rails - beware!||Apart from the bathroom - room extremely comfortable and clean, ||Hotel in ideal location - all staff encountered, friendly and helpful

The pictures and hotel info did not match our experience at all. There is the main hotel, then there is across the road part 2 of the hotel. We stayed in part 2 , we labelled the dungeon. Not good at all should not be used. The restaurant on the balcony was appalling great view n that’s it. Brekkie ok. Room v v basic. Not at all like we thought would be

Located in front of the harbour and close to museum and pedestrian mall, taxi from airport $15 Walk to bus stop for Knossos Goose down pillow and comfy bed, staff is super nice, spiros? He even walked out of hotel to direct me to the mall, I am so happy I chose this place Important, big walk in shower and hot water, excellent . It’s 5 star for me

This hotel looks ok from the outside and the welcome was ok at reception. |Rooms are decent size but in need of renovation. There is an awful smell in the rooms of disinfectant/toilet cleaner and the feel grubby. |Can’t believe that this is a 4* hotel. Should be 2* or maybe 3* at best. |Breakfast choice was good but not of the best quality and NOT ONE member of staff acknowledged us in any way so quite unfriendly and disinterested. |On the plus side the balcony restaurant served some great quality food, so not all bad.
