The staff are very friendly and helpful. We got a room with a lovely view. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. Breakfast is great too. Walking distance to everywhere in town and overall a great relaxing stay. There is a roof terrace that perhaps needs a bar but am not complaining. Would stay again for sure.

What not to say about this little Gem of a hotel. Family run, quaint place to relax and unwind. Breakfast only, but wow those lovely ladies make the best jams, honey, and cakes. Beautiful selection of fresh meat n fruits, choice of eggs. All to eat on the Beautiful patios. Rooms are very nice and clean. And serviced every day. Pool is small, but very adequate and you're never without a sun lounger. Jeanette the lovely lady who takes care of the bar side is an absolute asset the hotel. Best happy hours I've ever spent. She's friendly, funny and makes you feel special. We will be going back if there's room for us. It gets booked up very quickly. Xxx

Located in a quiet section just to the north of Agios Nikolaos. A. N. is not exactly walking distance, but it is doable if you are fit and up to it. There is a nearby convenience store.||Stayed here for 3 nights. We did day trips, by rental car, to Ierapetra and Vai Beach. ||Room was decent size, bathroom was a bit small, and the shower was tiny. I felt as if Scotty was beaming me up. Energize! There was no safe in the room. Bathroom was very small and had no room for toiletries. ||Breakfast was nice and fresh. Food preparers were very nice and personable. The outdoor seating was very nice. ||Hotel parking could be a bit challenging, if you are not there early enough. ||There is a nearby, walking distance, rocky beach. The pool was much nicer. There is a pool-bar.||You really felt like family staying here. It is a multi-family owned business that gives you great customer service and looks out for you comfort. ||We had a very nice enjoyable stay. George I and George II, the owner-operators, took great care of us.|We would definetly stay here again. |Efharisto!

Found the hotel quiet & relaxing. Rooms I thought were basic but pefectly adequate. After touring other islands we found the breakfast was the best, catering for every nationality so well done there. Staff were very friendly, got to say a big thank you to Jeanette who was great fun & a fountain of knowledge for us & cooked great lunch. Pool didn't get crowded & plenty of sun beds. It is a 15/20 min stroll into town with a mostly level walk. Didn't like the 1st restaurant to the left. A small quiet beach 10 mins turning left out of the hotel. Only sour note is paying for air con, should be included in the price.

We really enjoyed our holiday at the Lato - the location was perfect to explore this part of Crete. Brilliant beaches and restaurants as well as cruises / trips water sports in walking distance. The public bus is Eur2 to Elounda for example, so we didn’t even hire a car. We loved the ‘Happy Hour’ at Jeanette and Carol’s bar for an aperitif and chatting with the other guests. The rooms are a bit small and dated, but they are very clean and come with air con and a fridge to keep drinks cool as well as large comfy beds, good showers and a balcony. Our teenagers loved the fact they had their own room . There is daily maid service, the breakfast is ok. They also have departure day shower’s, brilliant for us as our flight home was late. The hotel has many regulars and hopefully we will be back one day too.

Just spent a very enjoyable week at this friendly hotel. Room 208 was clean, had a comfortable bed, loads of storage, very efficient shower and a fantastic view of the bay. Special thanks to the staff who really seemed to want our stay to be special. Nicos looked after us at the bar before bed, Jeanette made great cocktails, generally kept us entertained and gave useful advice on the local area. Sally kept everything running smoothly at breakfast and is doing a great job looking after poorly local cats. The cheerful ladies in the kitchen made sure that breakfast was different every day with their tasty homemade pastries, jams and more. The garden is well tended with a variety of plants and trees. The pool is warm, never crowded, always with spare sunbeds in the shade and sun. Thanks also to our cleaner who kept our room spotlessly clean. All in all a great little hotel. On the down side, it is quite a walk into Agios Nikolaos...I would say closer to half an hour than 15 minutes. Especially in the heat. The sunbeds on the nearest beach are expensive and it is quite noisy and crowded. Though you can swim closer. The first part of the walk is on a narrow uneven pavement by a busy road. Not ideal at night. It would be good if the hotel sold big packs of water as they are very heavy on a hot day. Our check in experience was efficient but not particularly welcoming. However we would still thoroughly recommend the Lato and its lovely staff.

loverly little hotel very quiet but only 15 mins to town centre and just 10 mins to amoodi beach. With only 30 odd rooms it was like having a private house. The staff were all very friendly and always helpful. The rooms were small but had everything you needed, the only downside was the fridge was on it's last legs as it put out more heat than cold but it did take creases out of the clothes that were hung above it. | breakfast was good with hot food and cold meats as well as home made cakes, but woe betide anyone who did'nt return thier tray to the bar.
