This place is gorgeous. The hike is a bit steep if you have any knee or mobility issues. Totally worth the drive. I hear there are 2 waterfalls there. I only saw the lower one. The kids could run around and climb on the rocks.

Google
Latourell Falls absolutely blew me away! This spot was spectacular—the view is stunning, and it felt like a hidden treasure compared to the much more crowded Multnomah Falls. One of the best parts is how close you can get to the base of the waterfall—feeling the mist and hearing the roar up close was incredible. There are two trail options here. I took the shorter one, and it was totally doable and definitely worth the walk. Peaceful, scenic, and not too strenuous. Perfect if you’re looking for something rewarding without the crowds or a full-day hike. Out of all the waterfalls we visited during our camping trip, this one was my favorite. I’d recommend Latourell Falls to anyone looking for a beautiful, serene experience in the Columbia River Gorge. Don’t miss it!

Google
Easy access. Gorgeous waterfall. You have to access it from the historic route 30. Easiet way is to exit from Int 84 on bridal veil exit and go back east at the parking lot for the trial head. You can see the falls from about 30 stairs up. The hike to the base is about .2 mile. It is a little incline coming back out. You can take the trail farther to the top of the falls. Absolutely worth the stop. There are restrooms at the parking lot. Parking lot isn't very big. Go on weekday and early if possible. We got there about 10am on a thursday.

We had a great time!! Took both kids and they loved the water, the trees, the flowers, and even the rocks have character!!! Definitely worth the trip!!! So close to many trails and vista house!!!

Google
Extremely short hike to get to the bottom of the waterfall. It’s purely amazing how high the water comes from and you are able to see the whole waterfall. It’s very touristy if you don’t like crowd you could try other near by waterfalls. Though it’s worth seeing this closely.

Google
Best fall I ever saw. The historic Columbia River highway passes nearby, Very short walk from parking lot Anybody can do that. We went here in the evening around 6pm. No rush , no parking problem Can do 2 mile loop too. Highly recommended

Google
Probably my favorite waterfall we visited along the Columbia River Gorge area. Just an amazing fall. Great trail, easy parking and restrooms there. Parking lot will fill up so get there early.

Google
Latourell Falls is top 10 waterfall in Oregon’s Columbia River Gorge that has family friendly trail. The falls are easily accessible from a short easy trail that by the bridge. A longer loop trail start from the observation area on the left, leading to both the upper falls and stunning viewpoints of the Columbia Gorge. Overall hike for the loop trail is about an hour with little elevation. Can get slightly muddy after rainy days. This is a great alternative to the busy famous in nearby location. Free parking is extra perk.

Yelp
Another beautiful waterfall along the Historic Scenic Highway! And like Horsetail Falls, Latourell Falls can be seen from the street making it easy for everyone to enjoy. You can get fabulous pictures right across the street from the parking area. If you go in the spring, the force of water is so powerful! The trails are muddy, even though the sun is shining, so wear the appropriate hiking shoes and be careful if you venture up to the top.

Yelp
Multnomah Falls is generally the popular hike and rightfully so but this is a pretty good gem Directions: You're good to go once you park at the main parking lot. You'll see a map that will show you multiple directions to take you to different parts of the fall. Hiking Difficulty: Family friendly! If you are going to play in the waterfall and such, then yes, get those water-friendly shoes. However, it's not too lengthy. You have an easy walk, one for maybe 15 minutes, and another one that can be 2 mile~1.5 hrs (round trip). Overall: 4.5 stars. Awesome! I had a great time here. I enjoyed the different animals (snake alert) and critters, along with the different sceneries nature had to offer from the trees, sunlight, and the waterfall. TL;DR Tips: * Come early for better chances at parking!

Yelp
This is an easily accessible waterfall that you can hike to at water level, mid level from an overview, and on top of. There's a small bridge at the bottom of the trail with a nice view. There's a dedicated parking lot for the waterfall but it's not very big so expect a difficult time parking on weekends or after noon.

Yelp
Located on the historic Columbia river Gorge Highway, two parking lots on either side of the road short walk to the base of the waterfalls thin Trail loops around to guy Talbot Park along the bottom portion. Safe pave rarely any loose gravel.
google avatar

Ren N.

Yelp
Beautiful short hike, loop setup, roughly 2+ miles trip out to the second fall and back onto the road, and more to continue onto the other side of the road for further hiking. You can go up close to both falls, just on two different trails. Overall you get shade most of the way, and it can get chilly/wet on certain parts. Recommend bringing good shoes and avoid hiking after a rain, cause it can get pretty slippery.

Yelp
There's a lot you can park at. It was pretty full but people parked at the side too so you can just do that. There's picnic benches at the parking lot and I saw some families having a picnic there! One family even had a table cloth and set that picnic vibe up! ;) Totally a good spot to have a picnic after walking to see the waterfall! There's one trail that leads up to where you can see the waterfall from afar. Make sure you use the railing if you have a hard time walking since it is a short uphill walk. Better safe than sorry! Then, if you want, you can continue hiking up the trail. I am not sure what's up there but we did not come for hiking so we headed back down the trail. There is a sign that says "Latourell Falls" at the side of the parking lot, leading to the overpass. The path to go to the waterfall is to the LEFT. It is a typical hiking trail - just be careful because some of the vines had thorns. It was a short walk (5-10 minutes depending on how fast you walk). There's a rock platform on your walk you can climb up on to take pictures if you want but just be careful climbing up and down. When you get to the waterfall, there isn't much space but you can take a photo at the small ledge. Then, walk down the rocky area to get to the waterfall for pictures. Brace yourselves- the water will come flinging at you like a feisty mist lol There was a bridge area leading to another path where you can climb on a rock to take a photo at the waterfall. We didn't go on this path since we didn't want to hike. We went back to our car and had a great time. Beautiful waterfall and short short walk! Just wear shoes with good grip for walking on trails!

Yelp
Latourell Falls is easily one of my favorite waterfalls in Oregon. Nothing feels better than walking right up to falling water and feeling its refreshing mist. A word to the wise: the water feels a little bit sharp, so be careful if you intend to go under the falling water. This waterfall reminds me of a waterfall I visiited in Iceland. Skógafoss some might recognize it from the scene of Jon Snow riding the dragon for the first time with Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones. The likeness is uncanny and it adds that much more magic to the visit. A really short drive and hike from Vista House makes Latourell Falls very accessible. This is absolutely a site that must be experienced if one is enjoying the Columbia River Gorge. Do not forget a change of clothes if you intend to get up close and personal with the water. Oh, you will! All in all, a beautiful and wondrous creation of nature. Very much recommended!

Yelp
These waterfalls were amazing! The trail was very nice and easily traversed. The facilities and parking make this a must see and visit.

Yelp
This was my favorite waterfall that I had visited when I came to Portland in August of 2022. It's part of the Waterfall Corridor and was the first place my boyfriend and I stopped at to check out. There is a small parking lot, so come early if possible to grab a spot! The overview was already quite beautiful in my opinion since you can see the waterfall in the distance. The signs do let you know that there are 2 ways to see the falls: upper and lower portions of it. We chose to do the lower falls as it was an easier and shorter "hike" (I say this with air quotes cause it's literally just a level 1 on the stair master). It was about a 5 minute walk to the base of the falls, and it was glorious! It was starting to get a bit warmer when we got there, so the spray of the water was quite refreshing. I will say to definitely watch your step as it could get a bit slippery being so close to the falls. Once you're done playing paparazzi, you can continue down the route, cross the bridge, then loop back to the parking lot.

Yelp
Pro tip: to avoid the crowds get there at 7am on a weekday. I had the trail entirely to myself the day after Memorial Day. It's a 3 mile loop or a 2 mile out and back to the upper falls. The first mile is pretty much up, up, up and is also kinda muddy. Sturdy shoes recommended. The lower falls can be seen from the parking lot, or closer just a bit up the trail. If you are hustling to get through hwy 30 before they close it for the day (permit only during the tourist season), then you can get your photo super easy. You won't regret taking an hour, though, and seeing the upper falls. The trail is lush with PNW greenery and flowers.

Yelp
We'd been to the lower falls right off the road before, very pretty, so we decided to take the trail to the upper falls today. Decent parking, a small lot and some across the road as well. There are restrooms available, and the lower falls can be seen just a short jaunt from the car. Really enjoyed the trail to the upper falls. The trail itself is shady and fairly narrow most of the way, with quite rocky and rooted terrain. The distance is a bit over 2 miles, you loop back once you reach the upper. You follow the creek the whole way, but this time of year you can rarely see the water due to all the forest growth...but you can certainly hear it! The upper falls are as pretty as the lower, and you can venture out right behind them if you're ok getting a little wet. There are gorgeous trees throughout the trek, some very interesting and unique beauties for tree lovers like myself. Not to mention gorgeous gorge views as you're heading down. Once we'd completed the loop we opted to take the separate trail up the lower falls as well. You can venture right up to and under the falls here as well. We arrived about 9:30am on a Sunday morning and the trail wasn't crowded much at all, more encounters as we were nearing the end of the loop. However by the time we headed for a close up view of the lower falls at about 11am that whole area as well as the lot were quite full. Great falls, fun loop trail... happy day!

Yelp
A quick walk will lead you to a beautiful waterfall. You can see this from the road but it is better the closer you get. Stunning.
google avatar

Jackie M.

Yelp
This beautiful waterfall hike has something for everyone. If you're not much of a hiker, you can see the lower falls with a minimal walk from your vehicle to the view point. If you're short on time, you can walk to the bottom of the waterfall and back to the Peking area in ten minutes. For those with longer to spend, the full loop is easy, and offers amazing views of another waterfall, wildflowers, and lush forest. The parking area gets crowded on summer days even midweek, but it's no where near as hectic as Multnomah Falls. Totally worth a stop if you're in the area.

Yelp
Latourell Falls was easily 5 Stars! As good as it gets! Lol, well, I know if you've read any of my other reviews about the attractions here at Columbia River Gorge....I've given 5 stars to almost everything. Especially Multnomah and Horsetail Falls. But...who doesn't love majestic waterfalls?! So yeah visiting this simple roadside stop...Latourell Falls....was an absolute blast! It was actually the first waterfall I came upon as I drove the 74 mile Columbia River Gorge heading from east to west. Latourell Falls was located on the right hand side as I was driving. Signs for it were clear and visible. For being one of my first stops along the Gorge Drive...it was morning time around 10am. Although there weren't many spaces available, I was lucky enough to find a spot right away. This Latourell Falls was situated along an easy walking path...maybe 1/4 of a mile long. And then it's right there. It was that quick to arrive at such a beautiful sight. I mean I know I've talked plenty about my love for waterfalls, but this Latourell Falls is right up there with the best. It's 249 feet from top to bottom. I was quite enamored with the views. It wasn't a cascading or flowing stream waterfall...it was just one significant drop the entire 249 feet. If you wanted...you could continue on the walking path for 1 mile extra to get views from the top of the falls, but I've learned that the surroundings from the top of a waterfall don't nearly compare to how good it is from the bottom looking on up. So...I didn't even attempt to walk any further. Plus...it was so humbling to appreciate these falls from the base...there was just no need to go anywhere else. But for some, if interested....you can hike to the top. Being at the base of the falls, I did have to maneuver in and around some rocks. Plus the rocks were set upon the base of the falls so it got slippery at times. The reason why I'm say this is because in order to capture the best views for pictures and the entirety of the 249 feet....I did have to climb on and over the rocks to fit myself and Latourell Falls all within one photo. And I was successful. I also did have to wait a few moments for others in front of me to take their pictures, but finally when I got my chance....I was able to casually sit down on one of the larger rocks and snap a bunch of pics. I even did a little video of the falls crashing down at the bottom. The entire scene here was simply stunning! If I had to say anything in regards to a letdown...maybe it was that my pictures appeared a little dark. But, I just lightened them up and was content with how they turned out. Finally I absolutely took a good 15 minutes to find a spot, sit down and just admire how terrific Latourell Falls appeared. For me...I just never take anything for granted. And I know I'm always repeating myself, but I felt so blessed to be in the moment here....and now as I'm writing this....I'm thinking back on the fond memories about coming here! Latourell Falls....yeah it's not the main attraction at Columbia River Gorge...that belongs to Multnomah Falls. Still...Latourell Falls is absolutely a necessity to witness. Plain and simple...you cannot drive this wonderful "waterfall way" area without stopping on by. It's a must visit!

Yelp
Nice Waterfall, Super Close To Road Access Viewable with less than 5 minutes hiking too! Hike up the hill for great photo views, down around the hill to walk into the chilly water! Not as crowded as Multnomah and some of the others. Don't miss this less traveled side of the road.

Yelp
Less crowded than the other falls... Just before heading to the Vista House at Crown Point we stopped by Latourell Falls. On a crowded Memorial Day weekend and almost impossible to find parking our tour guide suggested that he dropped us off and do an easy short loop hike to the falls. We were dropped off at the beginning of the trailhead from the Historic Columbia River Highway and we followed the paved viewpoint trail uphill past the bridge to the Latourell Falls Viewpoint. The falls was beautiful and we were there admiring the 224-feet tall single-plunge waterfall from below, an amazing waterfall that rivals others in the Gorge. It looks like a sheer curtain as it falls straight down. The water doesn't touch any rocks or anything from the time it leaves the top to the time it hits the bottom pool below. Just beautiful and you will feel some mist as you get near the falls. We continued on the other side of the creek back to Columbia River Highway where our tour guide was parked waiting for us. Enjoyable short hike. TRIVIA: The falls are named after Joseph Latourell, a 19th century settler of the area who became postmaster of the Rooster Rock Post Office in 1887. Review #1416

Yelp
Not even rain all day would keep me inside. The fall colors brighten every nook and cranny of Latourell falls so you can really enjoy all its magic. This plugging waterfall sits at over 249 ft over a large cliff with slight elevation change the 3 mile hike is a perfect way to enjoy the day. Although the rain made this a slightly slippery and muddy hike we all loved it just make sure to wear the right type of shoes and bring a rain coat. What's even better in the rain there wasn't a soul in sight.
google avatar

Yelp
Of all the falls we saw at the Columbia River Gorge, this one is my favorite. Now, I'll make this clear: they're all good. But Latourell Falls is unique, because it goes down in mid-air, not cascading down any rocks. It's easily accessible, too. You can go up the stairs to the viewing area for a gorgeous view. OR . . . you can walk down a paved, gradually-sloped path for a quarter mile to reach the bottom of the falls. It's quite easy to go very close to the falls too, although the force of the water is so great that you shouldn't be IN the waterfall. More than enough parking. To give you an idea of what to expect: The Hunny has difficulty on hills, and she handled this one easily, both up and down. And I naturally got close to the falls for a photo op, with the girl acting like she did not know me. Hmpf. If you can't get to Multnomah, make it a point to get to Latourell. Even if you do get to Multnomah, fit Latourell into your itinerary.

Yelp
Magical, snowy loop trail, oh how I love thee! We have done this trail many times, and to do it in the snow is such a treat! Two waterfalls in one hike under 3 miles? Yes please! Note: Because of the spray from the falls, parts of the trail were ice sheets today. We had spike/traction devices to pull on over our shoes. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND them if you are going to do the full loop.
google avatar

Chad D.

Yelp
Beautiful hiking trail right outside of the city that was easy to get to. We got here late morning and the trail was not busy at all. The scenery was amazing here. All the different shades of green seemed unreal. We don't get this type of lush greenery in Dallas so I was soaking up every second of the hike. Pro tip: if you want to just go to the bottom of the big lower falls, walk down the path to the left of the information board. We went the other direction (which is fine because we wanted to hike) and kept wondering when we would make it to the bottom of the falls. The bottom is literally a 5 minute walk from the parking lot lol. If you take the full hiking loop, it's well worth it. The trail takes you to a smaller upper falls then to the top of the huge lower falls before taking you to the base of the lower falls.
google avatar

Sharon H.

Yelp
Worth a stop to take the short walk to this impressive falls! The easy trail affords close up views of the falls. Many trekkers also clamber up under the overhang where the thunderous sound of the water are accompanied by stingingly cold sprays. Just be careful of slipping on the rocks or mud, especially as we didn't see any park ranger or security around.
google avatar

Gabriel N.

Yelp
All the pictures of the falls without a difficult hike? Why not! Latourell is similar to Multnomah Falls in the fact that you can get all the pictures of the falls without having to really hike. If you're in it just for the pictures, it's a short 3 minute walk and then you're there. Of course, for those looking for a challenge, there's another trail that loops all the way around and you get to see both the upper and lower falls. That trail is almost 2.5 miles long that has some incline. Either way, both trails are relatively short and can be done probably within an hour or two. Latourell is really close to Bridal Veil and Multomah Falls so it's possible to do all 3 in a few hours. Of course, do check the area as roads are closed due to the Oregon wildfires. (As of 9/20/18) Overall, a great place for pictures and a hike!
google avatar

Giovanni S.

Yelp
This is an amazing short and relatively easy hike. You don't need to pay for a permit for this hike. There's also a bus that drives you around to other waterfalls for those perfect picture moments. The hike overall is about 3 miles and somewhat leveled. I hiked while it was raining so the trail does get a little muddy. There are rocks throughout the trails that aren't super slippery but you should be careful as you walk.
google avatar

Shauna M.

Yelp
This is a fabulous hike. I highly recommend doing the full 2.4 mile loop - you get 2 great waterfalls, a nice clearing that overlooks the Columbia River gorge, a tree you can walk through, and a walk under the road bridge. Basically there are a lot of points of interest packed into this modest hike. There is a decent elevation gain, but I like that it provides a little bit of a workout. There are some steep spots that get slippery when it's rainy. The temperature drops significantly when you get near the falls, so be prepared. The paved road and parking lot at the trailhead are easily accessible, but the lot fills up quickly on the weekends.
google avatar

Hurjane V.

Yelp
I think this was Allen's favorite fall, since you can get hella close to the water! Parking here is a bit more difficult, so I recommend coming early enough to snag a spot. +1 Love that there are two ways to hike to the fall! The visible route is the direct uphill hike, but there is a more subtle downhill one underneath the "Latourell Falls" sign. The exciting part is when you cross the bridge, and get as close as you can to the water! You can technically go further in, but definitely bring extra clothes.... Overall, cute hike! We came at a good time (11 am-ish) so the sun was beaming and the weather was perfect. Come check it out!
google avatar

Natasha K.

Yelp
Very beautiful and quite unbelievable to see. However, and this is a big however. DO NOT USE THE ADDRESS ON YELP!!!! The address takes you down a gravel path with no outlet someplace ABOVE the falls on private property. Search on Google for the Latourell Falls trailhead and you'll find it. Really easy to access once you are on the true route.
google avatar

Matt M.

Yelp
Very easy waterfall to access without having to spend a lot of time hiking. It's very accessible, but also very popular, so it can be hard to get a shot without anyone in the picture. There's also a trail that will take you towards the top. The trail can also get busy. Personally, I don't think the trail is worth taking the time doing if you're on a time crunch.
google avatar

Tiffany H.

Yelp
I hiked from the parking lot to lower and upper hills and around back to the road to the parking lot, which was a fun and not super exhausting hike. It took about an hour start to finish. There are some parts which are a bit uphill, but it's not super steep. Hiking boots are not necessary for this hike, as I did it in my Nikes. The water is nice, and the scenery seen throughout the hike is nice.

Yelp
Beauty, right at your fingertips! In the literal sense, if you tried to stick your fingertips in this waterfall, you would probably get devoured. But figuratively speaking, Latourell Falls is truly right at your fingertips! There's no need to hike a thousand miles to see this captivating waterfall. I mean, you can definitely get your hike on if you so choose to. But for those of you who just want to view this beauty without the sore muscles and rough inclines, it is totally doable! Latourell Falls is located just a short distance passed the famous Vista at Crowne point along the East Columbia River Scenic highway! If you are driving out to Multnomah Falls, you will pass Latourell Falls along the way. Located in Guy W. Talbot State Park, Latourell Falls is practically viewable from the highway! I came here in the late fall (early December), and the falls were still full bodied and plunging. The falls are viewable from several different access points; the easiest and quickest one being just a few steps from the parking lot! This viewpoint provides the perfect view of the entire waterfall without all of the wetness spewing in your face. It's also a great place to take flawless pictures. I observed one photographer with a tripod here when I went. With that being said, this is also the most popular location to view the falls, and you might have to compete with other tourists when using the viewpoint. But, this waterfall doesn't seem to get as busy as maybe Multnomah Falls would. There's a small trail that descends down to the bottom of the waterfall. It's probably only about a quarter mile or so, and it will get you up close and personal to the waterfall! Just beware; you will get wet if you decide to take this route. I highly recommend it though because the sights and sounds are truly breathtaking. Capturing this can be a bit difficult since the mist from the falls will fog up your camera lens, but it can most certainly be achieved. If you want to get a little exercise in while viewing the falls from the top, there's a nice hiking trail that will lead you to the top of the falls and beyond. I didn't hike the entire trail due to time constraints, but the trail is moderate with a steady incline and only took me about 15 minutes or so to reach the top of the waterfall. The entire trail is an incline all the way to top, but you can pace yourself. The trail seems to continue on and looks like it might connect to the bottom of the falls at some point. If I had more time, I would have probably explored the trail a bit more. Latourell Falls is definitely worth your visit! It's fast, it's free, and most importantly; it's a beautiful memory that you will never forget!

Yelp
We spent part of a day exploring this area and there are so many beautiful falls! This was our favorite. You can walk down to the bottom and see the basalt columns up close and then start winding upward too. No time for the whole trail but it was so lush and pretty and not too busy.
google avatar

Danny N.

Yelp
This is a cool falls to check out, it is on the road to Multonomah. The place is gorgeous and very easy to see when you hike up a bit!
google avatar

Jen L.

Yelp
Oh look more beautiful scenery and water falls. Great short trail to see the falls. Picnic benches adjacent to the parking lot. The straight drop is very dramatic. And the path is pretty easy...even for a flatlander. Again the photos tell the story... because nature=pretty.
google avatar

Silar K.

Yelp
We came here for the hike. Parkin was easy, but it was also a Wednesday morning when we came. From the parking lot area, you can see and take photos of the falls without having to walk up much. If you take the hike, there is another waterfall you get to see, and that one is more personal. Seems like you can even get into the water too. The hike was nice, pretty easy, with decent inclines. There are certain paths along the route that leads somewhere else, but the path to stay on to get to the falls is pretty obvious. When we got to the falls, I was so happy to see lots of water still flowing and I got to take lots of great photos with the waterfall. I would definitely recommend friends to do this hike.
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful falls, free entry, and a not-so-challenging hike to the top (though still satisfying). The trails are well maintained and the elevation isn't too intense- we did it in regular sneakers without needing hiking boots or anything. What I really liked about the falls was the ability to get up close at the base, even feeling the spray from the falls as they came down! The walk to the lower falls was super easy, mostly paved, and as a result a little crowded, but absolutely still worth the visit. There were public bathrooms too and a decent amount of parking. Great experience overall.
google avatar

Yelp
Short hike, long waterfall. I came here right after landing in Portland. I'm glad i made the stop to see this stunning waterfall. The hike can get steep and i got lost at one part but it was still worth it. Experience Level: Easy to Medium Total Hiking Time: 1 hour Elevation: 630 feet Distance: 1.9 miles
google avatar

Yelp
This is another spectacular hike/falls. Having hiked it before, this time we went straight down to the falls. The falls did not disappoint and were rapidly falling. It is one of 2 hiking trails unaffected by the September fires. Unfortunately there was a woman smoking which was extremely disappointing given the fact that so much of forestry was burnt from fireworks. However, I recommend this trail as it is super short if you're going to the base of the falls. The hike up is more strenuous and more of an incline. I didn't even finish it the last time I came as it was drizzling.

Yelp
This waterfall is a must-see if you're in the Gorge. There are multiple ways to enjoy the falls. You can see the main falls from a viewing area off the main road. If you feel like taking a little bit of a walk, you can go down the path to enjoy the view from below and experience the spray and power of the falls. If you're feeling even more adventurous, you can hike to the upper falls. The hike is fairly steep and tends to be muddy and rocky. Definitely use caution so you don't slip and twist an ankle. The extra work is worth it, with the upper falls being even better than the lower. To get back, you can either back track on the same path or take the bridge across and trek back on the other side. Dogs are allowed, but only on a leash. Of course some people thought the rules didn't apply to them. But the path is narrow, slippery, and frequented by families with adventurous kids, so for everyone's safety (including your pup's), leave Fido on his leash. Parking can be tricky, with much parking having to be on the roadside. But people come in and out frequently, so if you're patient, a spot should open in a somewhat timely manner. The falls are worth the wait!

Yelp
Review #257 - 2018 This is also another spot that we happened upon by coincidence due to my GPS malfunctioning, or possibly the address on Yelp being incorrect. I'm actually glad that the GPS didn't send me straight to Multnomah Falls because it was closed and this was the only other waterfall that was within the area that we didn't actually need to hike up to get a decent view. There's a free parking lot right out front and you can just jump out of the car and snap a few photos without having to hike all the way up. Although, I'm sure that it looks so much prettier up close. Unfortunately, since the baby was still asleep, I didn't want to wake her up to hike the trail to the waterfall. Also, the fact that I didn't get much sleep would've been a bad idea altogether. So glad we got to see one waterfall even though we were super disappointed that the road to Multnomah Falls was closed.

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful and the best part, a short hike! There are two paths, the path on the left side of the parking lot leads up to a view of the whole waterfall from a distance, while the path on the right will lead to the bottom of the water fall where you can get up and close to the bottom of the water fall. Went during January and it was freezing cold The waterfall was half frozen and the base was frozen solid. It was beautiful. Make sure to layer up, as the closer you get to the water fall the colder it gets.

Yelp
These falls are a great place to visit when driving through the gorge. It's an easy walk down to the falls. It does get very busy during touristy times, but if you go in the fall you can find times where it isn't crowded. The fall colors are nice here too.

Yelp
Latourell falls and trail is definitely spectacular! It is a great beginner hike and very newbie and kid friendly! The hike towards the falls usually takes from 40 - 60 min. depending on the capabilities of the person/group and whether you stop and take pictures. You will definitely be stopping and taking multiple pictures, many many many times! The whole trail and scenery is absolutely beautiful! There are fallen trees that you can walk across if you don't mind walking off the beaten path. The stream that flows through the middle is also a good contrast to the green in everything! There is a huge tree that is hallowed out and you can actually walk through it! This was my first ever visit to Oregon and this hike was definitely one of the highlights! It was a cool brisk day with overcast skies. There was a very slight drizzle every now and then, but never a downpour. My very light pullover sufficed the weather. It wasn't too packed. Only a couple of groups passed us up. There are a few sketchy parts where the trail gets slick and you can potentially fall on your ass. Lol You should definitely wear hiking shoes! I was wearing Adidas trainers that had a lot of give. Almost too much. With my shoe's sock like enclosure... it was almost uncomfortable to walk and step different directions and slopes. The soles were plush.. but could feel every rock, branch and basically anything I stepped on. This really really left my feet fatigued. This shows hoe NOOB I was. Latourell falls is not the largest and most amazing of the waterfalls in the area, but it definitely is beautiful in to itself. It definitely holds it's own. The power you can hear is jaw dropping. After all the pictures have been taken. It's time to go back. You can either retrace your steps and go back to where you had previously came. OR you can push on and hope that you reach the end of the trail and back to the car. Lol So that's what we did. It took about another 30 - 40 minutes to reach the end of the trail, but not without worry. We were worried we got lost a couple times, until a couple of other hikers pointed us in the right direction. We ended up and a cliff at one point, which was def. a very pleasant surprise! All in all the whole thing from beginning to the end is just mystical. It was an absolute perfect hike! I loved every bit of it. 5/5 stars!!

Yelp
The nice thing about this fall is it requires almost zero physical activity to get a good view, the bad thing is that it requires zero physical activity to get a good view of the fall. For some reason I have a need to have worked to see such beauty. Even parking was easy. Haha It was gloomy and slightly raining the past weekend and the higher we went up on the trail the thicker the fog got and soon the fall disappeared. Unfortunately a couple of the people I was with didn't wanna continue on the trail so we just went down to the bottom of the fall which is a very short distance from the parking lot. The fall is beautiful, even the rocks that surround it. I think it'd be a lot more enjoyable to come during the summer when the trails aren't muddy or foggy.

Yelp
There are two falls here. Lower fall that you can see from the parking lot and a higher fall which you will have to hike to. The hike itself is beautiful! Although make sure to wear the right shoes because once it rains, the trail can get muddy and slippery. Parts of the paths are also rocky and narrow. But overall an easy short hike to a breathtaking higher waterfall. During the trail end of the hike after the waterfall, you will see a fork where one side has a sign that says "trail loop," the other side is not a return trail but it will lead you to a safe standing place to take in an unobstructed view of the Columbia river. Watch out as that path is super rocky and steep.

Yelp
Comparing to Multnomah Falls, Latourell Falls felt like a baby waterfall and I think of this waterfall as an appetizer before the main entrée. Parking was easy and you can get to the base of the waterfall in less than 5 minutes by following the paved trail. If you are leaving the Vista House, then Latourell Falls will be the 1st noticeable pit stop as you drive toward Multnomah Falls. The hike to the upper falls is an approximately 2.5-mile loop trail. if you are driving directly from Portland to Multnomah Falls and skip the Vista House, then there's no need to drive out of the way JUST to check out Latourell Falls.

Yelp
This is a great hike -- arguably *better* than the trip up those switchbacks to the top of Multnomah Falls. It's a very quick walk down below the highway to see waterfalls part 1, but I highly recommend that you make the trek up toward waterfalls part 2. I don't really know why you wouldn't do the upper falls, unless I guess the lower is enough to convince your 'gram followers you are #livingauthentic. The loop up and around may take you slightly more than an hour, or longer if you stop to take lots of pics. At both the upper and lower falls you get pretty close to the action, hence instagrammers be errywhere. I believe this is currently one of the few waterfall trails back open at this time after the fire(s); parking lot was full to capacity when we were there on a Saturday around 10am, so plan your visit accordingly.

Yelp
Did a mini hike for all the waterfalls in the area. This was by far my favorite. Gorgeous view of the waterfall. The hike itself was pretty easy to the waterfall, went around early March so there was still some ice/snow on the trails so be careful! Definitely worth a visit

Yelp
Beautiful waterfall. An easy 5-minute walk from the parking lot. Very peaceful. Bring a jacket, the dog, grandma and the kids.

Yelp
Hike level: Easy, some uphill/downhill but nothing that was really more than flat. I wore my Nike AirMax 2011 and didn't even get them dirty other than a few smudges of dirt on the side (I also am very careful when I walk). Bathrooms: None Waterfall: You can stand under it! I snapped some photos but it's a little rocky and you can't swim under it but it's pretty cool that you can stand under it. There were about 4-5 other people here, this hike is a loop so this is kind of the "end" point then you start walking back or "around." Scenery: Great views. Lots of green shrubbery and you have some 350-400ft elevation! Overall: We came here because Eagle Creek Trailhead was closed. We are not from Portland and I'm sure there are more beautiful places to hike but we had nothing to compare it to so this one gets an A+ for the beginner hiker out there.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place. You can go in a whole loop to see the upper falls (about 2.1 miles) or just walk about .3 miles down to where the lower latourell fall is for some beautiful photos! Also worth it to drive down the street to bridal veil falls which is about 1-2 miles rt hike.
