Latteria Garbatella

First time in Rome, went for my 30th birthday dinner with my wife. We did not have reservations but they attended us with phenomenal service, they even humoured my attempts to speak Italian. Very polite wait staff with excellent service. We had 3 courses, an appetizer from the house, a homemade pistachio pesto pasta, veal with baked potatoes, followed by tiramisu for dessert. Each of these dishes were by far the best I had ever tasted in my life. I do highly recommend you visit to see for yourself, don’t just take my word for it.

Amazing experience, courtyard is quiet and right out of a movie scene. Dodd was exquisite, must try the tiramisu!

Go with your eyes closed and enjoy it's a true discovery. The interior is cozy, the food tastes amazing, the staff has great advice. Even if I am a picky eater there was nothing left in the plate.

Stumbled across this restaurant while visiting Rome for a couple of nights, and we are glad we found it. Reasonable price, amazing local wine, and the food is to die for. Service is on point and so friendly. Thank you for having us!

Stopped by for a bite to eat but not serving dinner til 6. Well i thought it would be 6 but turned out 6 to 8:15 you can start ordering appetizers not actual dinner. I had stuck around for hour and a half downing a couple of IPAs already so appetizers it was. I ordered a baby calamari on toasted bread, can't say I'll crave it again but for a one time try it was alright for this hangry guy. The second appetizer was calamari based as well but with chunks of seasoned croutons of sort. The menu had English translations for dinner menu but appetizers were strictly in Italian. It was a crapshoot. Seemed like it was getting busy on a Sunday night i would probably recommend a reservation. A beautiful patio. Great sitting on a cool summer evening and sipping IPAs. A very nice vibe in Garbatella.

This smart, spacious cocktail bar and eatery is in one of my favourite districts in Rome: Garbatella. The sister district of Testaccio in many ways, it's a traditional "quartiere populare" with stunning original architecture and plenty of unexplored spaces. Latteria Garbatella is fashioned from a old milk vending station, and the spacious interior is matched by an outstanding paved garden, which is just coming into its own with the warm weather. The cocktails are good, and the barstaff inventive: twice they have come up with original versions of my favourite tipple, the Negroni; one with a vermouth marinated with cloves and another called a White Negroni, with white vermouth and Biancosarti. They aren't incredibly alcoholic but sometimes that's a plus. The aperitivo consists of crudités with dipping oil and small dishes of couscous. I haven't tried the food yet, so who knows, maybe I'll be awarding that 5th star soon!

Have you noticed how hipster places can often be pretentious and unpleasant? Bartenders all are mixologists, whose work can't be questioned, waiters are inattentive in the best of times, otherwise blatantly annoyed... Latteria is NOT like that. This place is as hipster as hipster goes in Rome, from location, to wooden and leathery miss matched forniture, to bearded waiters, yet the staff is incredibly nice and attentive, the atmosphere truly relaxed and cocktails are good without trying too hard. I just had a lovely evening.
