8 exciting culinary experiences in Melbourne and Victoria - SilverKris

"A contemporary coastal restaurant near Point Leo Beach that encourages unhurried dining with a seasonal menu and an optional signature selection featuring perennial favourites such as Aquna Murray cod with Joselito jamón pil‑pil. The dining room looks onto a seven‑metre‑tall cast iron sculpture by Jaume Plensa set within an adjoining arts park, making it ideal for an after‑dinner stroll." - Dinesh Ajith

Had a really special lunch at Laura for my birthday. We booked ahead to ensure they could cater to me as a vegan and the team went above and beyond for my special day. We dined on the four course menu with paired wines. Each course was thoughtfully designed and delicious. The wines were fantastic. The service was special yet friendly and approachable. The biggest surprises were complementary palate cleanser, a special vegan cake they made just for me, and special vegan chocolates to finish. I will absolutely be back. Thank you again

Laura nestled just a short drive from the stunning Mornington Peninsula and located in the pt Leo estate, we knew we were about to embark on a truly exceptional dining experience. The ambiance was refined yet inviting — a perfect blend of understated elegance and cozy charm, setting the tone for a memorable lunch. The evening unfolded with a meticulously curated 13-course tasting menu that showcased the very best of local ingredients and culinary artistry. Each dish was a celebration of flavors, textures, and seasonal produce, expertly crafted by the talented chef and their dedicated team. Undoubtedly the highlight of the evening was the lobster flambé served right at our table. Watching the chef flambé the lobster with precision and flair was an experience in itself — a theatrical display of skill and confidence. The lobster was perfectly cooked, tender and succulent, with a rich, buttery flavor that was elevated by the flambé process. The chef was not only knowledgeable but also passionate, taking the time to explain the inspiration behind the dish and the nuances of the preparation. It was a true demonstration of culinary mastery, and the communal excitement around the table made it even more special. Among the many highlights, the tacos stood out as a delightful surprise. They were crafted with finesse, balancing bold flavors and fresh ingredients. The tortillas were soft yet sturdy, holding fillings that were both inventive and comforting. Each bite was a testament to the chef’s ability to elevate simple dishes into gourmet delights. The evening's finale was the carrot dessert, which was nothing short of extraordinary. It was a beautifully presented dish that showcased the versatility of this humble root vegetable. The dessert was perfectly balanced — perhaps a carrot mousse or a carrot-infused panna cotta, complemented by subtle spices or a citrus tang. It was a thoughtful and sophisticated ending to the meal, leaving us with a lingering sweetness and appreciation for the chef’s kiss. What truly set this experience apart was the evident dedication to sustainability and local sourcing. The menu proudly featured ingredients that were homegrown or locally harvested, emphasizing the restaurant’s commitment to supporting local farmers and promoting seasonal eating. This approach not only enhanced the freshness and flavor of each dish but also fostered a deeper connection between the diner and the land. The service was impeccable — attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable without overshadowing the culinary experience. The staff demonstrated genuine passion for the food, eager to share insights and recommendations that enriched our understanding and appreciation of each course. The atmosphere struck a perfect balance between elegance and comfort, making us feel special yet relaxed. Soft lighting, tasteful decor, and a well-curated wine list complemented the meal beautifully. Laura delivers an immersive gastronomic adventure that celebrates local produce, culinary craftsmanship, and the joy of shared experiences. From the theatrical lobster flambé to the inventive tacos and the exquisite carrot dessert, every element was thoughtfully executed with passion and precision. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a fine dining experience that is both memorable and meaningful — a true testament to the vibrant food scene of pt Leo estate.

Breathtaking views and exceptional service. I celebrated my 60th birthday there. Started with wine tasting and Campbell was great explaining the wines. Ladies welcomed us to Laura behind glass doors. Sat at Table 1. View of ocean, gallery walk and floor to ceiling windows. Great service. Amazing food made from local produce. Started with a Laura cocktail. So beautifully presented. Had the signature menu with matching wines. Well worth it. Cassie super friendly and not pretentious. Knew her stuff which was great to learn of where produce obtained etc.

We enjoyed a wonderful lunch at LAURA this weekend. The dishes in the SET MENU exceeded our expectations in every aspect—quantity, variety, presentation, flavor, the attentive service provided, and the creative arrangement of farm plants and flowers were all outstanding. We are delighted to have had such a fantastic dining experience here.

Best fine dining in the Mornington, 10x tractor does not compare.. We did the signature menu for lunch. The food was flawless, interesting and just yum! Cocktails on point. Service was friendly and attentive. Make sure to take advantage of the complimentary reserve wine tasting at Pt Leo as well as the sculpture park! I definitely would return the next time I'm in the area.

Laura is a rare and wonderful mix of fine food & wine, impeccable service and a unique, spectacular view. In a restaurant landscape so bereft of good service, Laura's staff are like a shining beacon in the dark. All the lost arts of reading a table, checking in, extra touches and great knowledge of the food truly lifted our lunch from amazing to memorable! Every dish looked as good as it tasted & take a good look at the petit fours trolley!! Photos- Beautiful braided fresh bread with fresh churned butter Muscles with smokey Laphroaig mayo Crab & caviar in amazing broth Cod and jamon The view!! One of the best lunches I've had in Australia in years.
