Nice little museum. It was interesting learning about the museum's history and the reason it was built. The museum stands as a wonderful memorial following the tragic death of its namesake. A museum such as this isn't what I would expect in a small town like Laurel, but if you like museums, don't miss it while you're in town!

Very nice museum. They had a nice mixture of art pieces. I do recommend watching the videos first and then checking out the rest. Staff is friendly and helpful. Nice little gift store as well. No tickets, it's by donation.

Visiting the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art was a delightful experience. Nestled in the charming town of Laurel, Mississippi, this museum may be small, but it is a treasure trove of diverse and fascinating collections. From the exquisite Indian baskets to the elegant antique silver, and from American art to European masterpieces, there's something to pique the interest of any art enthusiast. The museum's architecture itself is a work of art, with stunning woodwork and a welcoming atmosphere that invites you to linger and explore. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, enhancing the visit with their insights and assistance. The museum also offers informative videos on the history of Laurel and the museum itself, which I found to be particularly enlightening. While not typically a frequent visitor to art museums, the positive reviews and the allure of free admission convinced me to give the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art a chance, and I'm glad I did. It's a cultural gem that deserves recognition, and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Laurel. Whether you're a seasoned art lover or just looking for a pleasant way to spend an afternoon, the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art is definitely worth a visit.

Beautiful museum with American and European galleries with works from the 19th century. It also has two galleries for contemporary works and a gallery filled with baskets from Native American tribes. Admission is free.

Beautiful hidden treasure in Laurel, Mississippi! This is a beautiful collection of portraits, landscapes, sculpture, and textiles. The museum itself is a work of art. The historic homes walking tour is delightful and doable for most. Several older amblers were with our tour. George Price the museum director was a fun and knowledgeable guide. We will be back!

It was my first time going to this museum. I did not know they had so many different exhibits. Each one was more interesting than the last. There are so many beautiful pieces. It is definitely a place to stop by and enjoy. I would recommend!

Google
Great docent walking tour of historic area! Thanks, George! Lovely museum! Nice variety of artwork: oil paintings, sculptures, English silver and Native American basketry! (May I suggest a paper backing to glass descriptions of items to make it easier to read. The lighting makes it difficult.) And that Chihuly glass chandelier was spectacular! Need an inexpensive paperback book about Laurel, walking tour house details & pictures and some museum picture examples. Would be a great way to get museum donations & let patrons leave with a nice memory souvenir!!!

Yelp
I was in the area with a friend looking at places in the area. Another museum we went to suggested this as a place to go to, so I made my driver come for a visit. Lauren Rogers was the son of a local businessman who was the major wood processor in the area who passed away tragically because of appendicitis. Admission is free, so make a donation or buy something from the gift shop. Talk to the employees because they love to talk about the building and its history.

Yelp
This place is awesome and it costs nothing except your generosity! They have a cool game to get littles involved and busy during your touring. Also, the staff shows wonderful southern hospitality! Everyone is sweet and informative! Definitely, make this a stop if coming to laurel.

Yelp
Stunning art museum in Laurel! We stopped here for a work trip and met up with George, the director. There are so many beautiful pieces in the museum. We especially liked the paintings on original Masonite siding

Yelp
I was in town visiting and stopped at the museum. I happened to get there right at the right time - George Bassi, the museum director, does a free walking tour of the areas around the museum on Fridays at 1030am. This was awesome. George is very personable and knows a ton about Laurel. I learned more than I ever would on my own. We walked to some of the historic houses around the museum who were part of the founding of Laurel, as well as a couple of churches. The museum itself also has some great exhibits of native baskets and silver.

Yelp
Really beautiful place with a sad-but-sweet story. Lauren and Leila Rogers were originally building this site as their personal residence (fancy!) when Lauren tragically died. With the foundation of the building already in place, his family decided to make this location a museum to honor his memory. Their aim was to make this a place of educational enrichment and they didn't want to charge an entry fee. Nearly 100 years later, the museum is still free and educational opportunities abound. The building itself is lovely, situated right in the middle of the beautiful historic residential portion of downtown Laurel and surrounded by mature trees. Many of the exhibits were contributed by original founding members and their families. That means the same Native American baskets, Japanese woodblock prints, and British silver present today were viewed by people in the same place, generations before us. I think that's pretty neat. Expect the same sweet Southern charm from the staff here that is present all around Laurel. Everyone is helpful and informative, warm and welcoming. This is a great stop for all ages when visiting Laurel.

Yelp
Such a gem! Staff are very welcoming and so helpful. The exhibits are a delightful mix of art: paintings, baskets, sculptures, and more. Looking forward to returning!

Yelp
Wonderful museum in an amazing building in Laurel. Well worth a visit! Several years ago, I caught a Leonardo DeVinci exhibit there which was spectacular! Check with the rotating exhibits to see what they're up to.

Yelp
The museum was great. The artwork was impressive and the displays were very good. Definitely enjoyed the Japanese woodblock collection. We spent about an hour and a half going through the museum and enjoyed it very much. It is definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
For such a small museum, this place is really extraordinary. They have a varied collection on permanent display, plus some unusual traveling collections come through. Pros: Friendly staff and volunteers Beautiful facilities Small but excellent permanent collection Interesting traveling collections Free admission Cons: None If you are ever en route between Birmingham and New Orleans on I-59, this beautiful little museum is worth a stop. And while you are there, nearby Downtown Laurel has interesting shops and places to look around. Five stars.

Yelp
Very cool exhibits and very helpful staff to get us going. We really enjoyed the diversity of art and the overall layout. The lower level was closed, but we'll be back once they have a new exhibit

Yelp
In most small towns you would not expect to find a nationally recognized museum but in Laurel that is exactly what you have. Lauren Rogers Museum is in a beautiful building and its most notable collection is the Native American baskets on display; some 800 overall. Other fine art from around the world as well which is worth the time to stop in.
