Well curated museum with audio guide available in English. Great historical presentation for both the people and the geography. Unique physical model of the city with lighting and projections accompanied by a video. Surprising amount of history for such a "small" city. Free admission with the Lausanne city pass

Museum of the city of Lausanne. Offers an interactive and interesting way to know more about the city from the foundation of it to the historical events. Worth a visit specially if you live here, as you get a bit more understanding of the surroundings and the history behind it.

Interesting museum telling the history of Lausanne, with lots of interactive exhibits. Good to visit for 1-2 hours to find out about the city's origins and development. Very nice interactive model of the city and accompanying film (available in English). The 12€ per adult entrance fee also gets you entrance to two other museums (valid for three days). If you have the Lausanne travel pass there is a 50% discount. Open on Mondays!

The exhibits were okay, most of the signs were in French. I particularly liked the fact that part of the museum is situated in an old house, really makes me think of the perspective of the people who's lived there hundreds of years ago. Also there's an old billiards table, I didn't know that the sport went back to the 18th century. The ticket that you can get here (for 12 CHF) is a 3 day pass that will cover 3 museums in the area (as is written on the back). It was basically empty when I went (midday on a weekday).

I have been living in Lausanne for almost ten years and finally now got to learn about it's architecture, history and influences throughout the years. The museum is wonderful, really immersive and the staff is great. Check out their bookshop with historical and contemporary photo books on daily trips, famous restaurants in Lausanne and other interesting things you can visit.
