"Putting the "Beach" in Beach Bar If searching for turtles, sticking your feet in warm afternoon sand, and sipping a mai tai are your idea of a perfect day on the Big Island of Hawaii, you'll want to loll about at Lava Lava Beach Club. A place where locals and tourists both feel comfortable to take a break, the adirondack chairs perched in the sand are a welcoming sight on the sunny shores of Waikoloa. The beach club's island atmosphere and carefully crafted cocktails, including a coconut, ginger, pineapple, lilikoi-flavored Gilligan's girl or the Okole Maluna (bartenders daily special), make this spot in the sand a special place. Patrons can also chill out with a Hawaii beer and energize from a "farm-to-beach" inspired menu that includes as many ingredients sourced from the Big Island as possible."

Lava Lava Beach Club – 5 Stars!! Visited July 2025 (dinner only) Quite possibly the most amazing dinner spot. Right on the beach, with amazing live music, insanely good food, and a super fun, laid-back atmosphere. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. Even waiting for a table was enjoyable, with a big open lawn and a mini bar setup, it felt more like part of the experience than simply "waiting"! We ended up going twice during our one-week trip, and honestly, I wish we went even more. Also, hands down the most epic place to watch the sunset. Absolutely breathtaking. Can’t recommend this place enough. An absolute must if you’re on the Big Island!

Google
For the prices, the food could’ve been a lot better. We ordered the poke nachos, which were great but they were stingy with the toppings. The view was absolutely gorgeous at sunset. This is the kind of place that you only go to for the view. The service was good. However, I wouldn’t recommend having a meal here. We were disappointed.

Google
Haven't stayed at the location but we came for dinner and dinner was great. The outdoor ocean front with live music is really great. The food was good a little pricey but overall tasty and our server was exceptional and really treated us as if he new us for years.

Just got back from our trip and wanted to give some feedback on the great experience we had @ the restaurant. We were able to enjoy a beautiful sunset as this place is situated right on the beach, with some tables literally on the sand. It’s super kid friendly and has games for them such as Connect 4, ping pong tables, Jenga and corn hole. My son loved exploring the tide pools while my wife and I enjoyed some drinks (these were a tad pricey @ around $15-20 each but that’s about the going rate and we were in HI on the beach so it was expected) from the awesome Bartender (sorry I forgot his name 🤦‍♂️ young guy, cool kat, made great drinks) @ the outside bar while waiting for our table. Once seated, we decided on the Bambi Pupu (a sampler platter of aji, aji poke and ceviche for about $32), which my wife loved, Huggo’s Terriyaki Steak which was 10 oz’s of delicious and perfectly cooked medium rare meat with just the right amount of sauce drizzled on, it was perfect with the rice and veggies and I felt a great price for $43 considering the quality, live music and surrounding beauty. Our son enjoyed the kids LLBC burger which is very modestly priced @ $15 with avocado and fries, and that’s not just a great price for Hawaii but anywhere these days. To add to the amazing ambiance and natural beauty, a gentleman was rocking some classic tunes on the ukulele, he was great so I had my son tip him as his services were greatly appreciated. The desert our incredible and attentive waitress Lauren brought after hearing it was our anniversary was the icing on the cake as it was actually a delicious slice of coffee cheesecake. To the owner(s), keep doing what your doing, it’s working 👏 Lastly, our son Noah came up with a great idea for a dish you can add to the menu that the kids would love! Give us a reply so we can chat offline.

Had a bit of a wait to get seated because of a prior engagement. The Kitchen was backed up. However, one of the managers took it upon himself to give us the VIP treatment which we really appreciated and got us seated outside on the sandy beach with a fantastic view. Great cocktails, and dinner. Loved the atmosphere and vibe.

Google
We went here for dinner and had a great experience. The location is right on the beach and had nice flame torches at night time. There was live music and a grass area for the kids to run around. There were plenty of food options and drink options. I opted for the ribs which were very good and a large portion. Once night fall came there was some cool lighting over the grass area. Highly recommended .

We did not stay at the beach club. We had a rehearsal dinner for 20 people. It was set up on the beach, but started raining. Robert, the manager, Heather and all the servers quickly moved the tables and setups inside. The food and drinks were delicious. Heather was our server and was fantastic. We appreciate how accommodating everyone was

Google
Tossing up between a 4 and a 5… the first time we went here I give it a 5/5 for everything, food was incredible, and service was great. Because we loved it so much, we decided to visit again on our last night on the island, but it was nowhere near as good, the food was average, as was the service. We’d still go back, hoping for a similar experience to the first. Highly recommend the pineapple fried rice - so good!

Yelp
Lava Lava Beach Club is such a great spot, no matter your age. It has a fun, laid-back vibe, and you really can't beat the scenery--tables right on the sand, swaying palm trees, and some of the best sunset views you'll find. It's the kind of place that makes you want to kick off your shoes and stay a while. The food is solid, and the tropical cocktails are exactly what you'd want at a beachside restaurant. Service is generally friendly, though it can be a little slow when they're busy. The biggest downside? They don't take reservations. It's all first come, first serve, which means long waits, especially during peak times. If you're not in a rush, grabbing a drink at the bar helps, but if you're starving, it can be frustrating. That said, the atmosphere makes up for it. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth a visit--just plan ahead and get there early!

Yelp
We visited Lava Lava Beach Club while staying at the Marriott Waikoloa Beach Resort. The location is beautiful, and we loved walking along the beach to get there. Like most places in the area, it was full of tourists, but we decided to give it a try. We were quoted a 45-minute wait, which was manageable, but unfortunately, once we were seated, the wait for our food took even longer than the initial wait time. I'll give some leniency since the restaurant was busy, but it was still frustrating. We started with the Fritto Misto (Calamari, Fried Shrimp, and Artichoke Hearts), which was decent overall. However, the artichoke hearts were clearly old, with some parts being completely inedible, which was disappointing. For our entrees, we ordered the Pineapple Chicken Fried Rice and the fish of the day, called Hook Line and Sinker. The fried rice was excellent! It came in half a pineapple with a big portion of rice, was full of flavor, and didn't even need the additional soy sauce our waitress kindly offered. Definitely the highlight of the meal. As for the fish dish, the flavors of the sauce were nice, but the fish itself was overcooked and dry, which brought the dish down. Overall, the experience was okay, but the long waits and inconsistent food quality took away from what could have been a more enjoyable meal.

Yelp
It is a tourist trap. If you are a tourist and you have zero clue about anything.. Which is the vast majority of tourists who are there staying in the area, yeah, Lava Lava will give you exactly what you deserve. A cheesy fake Hawaiian experience. Rinse and repeat for the next crop of tourists to drop in. We have a place across from Lava Lava and we hear the music every once in while and also see the lights, never makes me want to venture over there to jump into the pool of mediocrity they have going on. We have been there when we first arrived, wasn't impressed and it is just a place that you see the tourists flock who are beyond clueless to knowing any better. The term Haole best describes it all, I have heard it means light skinned, or without breathe, as to why they are so pale, I have also heard from locals that the term means without soul, I think Haole means that, without soul, clueless to what Hawaii truly is. Lava Lava gives a Haole experience to Haole's. Soulless patrons and a soulless experience.

Yelp
Amazing sunsets and views! We didn't have to wait long for a table. We were further from the beach but could still walk to the beach and see the sunset before we ate. The music was fantastic. I loved all the touches including the tiki torches, lights, surfboards, and climbable trees. There were also a fire pit and Cornhole at the entrance. We came for drinks and dessert but will come back for dinner as everything looks amazing. I can't remember what drink I had. Originally I ordered the Gilligan's Girl, but they were out of the souvenir mugs so I ordered something else. My mom had the Kona coffee cheesecake and loved it. I can't remember our servers name but she was fantastic. They do offer a gf menu here. I had a side of fries to go with my drink and they were gf. Would come back here in a heartbeat

Yelp
Very good. Expensive but delicious. I was down with friends and we couldn't decide what we wanted. The hook line and sinker- which was a pink snapper (not always on the menu-or in season, so how could we not want it?) The macadamia crusted mahi mahi ...love mahi. So I chose the mahi mahi and my friend got the pink snapper and we split it. HANDS DOWN THE MAHI MAHI WON! The lilikoi sauce made this dish even better. It was so delicious. The broccoli and mango was a weird mix though. Drinks were delicious. The dishes were $55 each and drinks were $17-$24 each My camera glitched and I didn't get a photo of the winning mahi mahi

Yelp
Perfect place to eat on the beach and accessible to beautiful beach. There is a lot of free parking for those who dine here

Yelp
The best part of this restaurant is always the location and atmosphere. Its hard to beat the view of sunset from the beach while enjoying some live music. The food over the years however has gone from really good to average. They no longer take reservations and are very picky about seating. A party of 6 they gave our table away because I dropped 5/6 off and was parking in the back walking up. I understand the need for full parties but 1/6 walking in from the parking lot for a couple mins seems a bit excessive to me. Overall a good time but somethings can be improved.

Yelp
Just our experience--but the perfect lunch! We walked down the beach from our hotel at the Marriott to be immediately seated on the beach, feet in the sand. Lauren was our server--great customer service and super-sweet! We ordered a cocktail each, the hubs ordered some ginormous (I don't even like this word!) mai tai in a collectible wooden cup and I ordered a veggie Bloody Mary, which quite frankly was watered down and didn't have the vegetables for which I had ordered it. The view was stunning and worth the visit. We ordered the bamboo pupu, which had all three of the ahi and ceviche appetizers that one could ever want. It was delicious, fresh and flavorful! We couldn't decide which was our favorite and would absolutely order again for a perfect shared

Yelp
Came here 11 years ago last time I was on the Big Island. Came back here the first night I was here and it was just as enjoyable as the first. Looks almost the same with some updates to the bar and such. Few tips, no reservations it's first come first serve. Busiest time is just prior to sunset because of the incredible views here. Everything else is just like I remembered the first time. Food is good and prices are high just like any tourist place in Hawaii but you can't beat the beach laid back atmosphere here. Will still come back next time I'm in Kona.

Yelp
The ambiance here is SUPREME! This is the ideal dinner spot in my mind - ocean views, live music, full bar, lawn games while you wait to be seated... it was a vibe! We had about a hour wait but the ambiance was so good that it was a pleasure! It became more of an experience than a wait. My 11mo old lovvved being able to walk all around their lawn and play with the giant pieces for lawn checkers and playing with other kids while we waited. Service was great and responsive Food - this was probably the best meal we had on our week trip, also the most expensive but you gotta have at least one "go big, I'm on vacation" meal! There were 3 of us, we split the fritto misto, my husband ordered the ahi and devoured it! My best friend and I shared the coconut shrimp (bomb and jumbo!) and the poke nachos and both were delicious! Their ahi literally melts in your mouth we rounded the meal out with the Kona cheesecake which was riiiich and even with 3 of us we didn't finish it, which in retrospect feels like a sin because it was so good! All in all, highly recommend!
google avatar

Leanne S.

Yelp
The ambiance is amazing.... Right on the beach. The service was really slow to a point we almost walked out. Then another shift started and the service picked up! The cost is pricey for what you get but then again you're paying for the view. The food was ok. It reminds me of all the different chain restaurants. Giving it 4 stars for the location.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and the perfect spot after a long day of travel. We had just arrived in Kona and checked into our hotel. Looking for a relaxed place to enjoy drinks and a meal, we found that Lava Lava was just what we needed. Getting there was an adventure since there are no streetlights leading to the drive, but that added to the overall vibe of the place. It was quite busy when we arrived, so we decided to sit at the bar. There was live music and a laid-back atmosphere throughout the restaurant. The menus were accessible via QR codes and offered a nice variety from land to sea. I started with the Okole Maluna, the bartender's daily special--a refreshing dragon fruit margarita. Our group shared poke nachos made with ahi poke, crispy wonton chips, tomatoes, sweet onions, avocado, and an unagi drizzle. They had a nice kick and were the perfect starter. For my main course, I ordered the Hook, Line & Sinker, which featured the catch of the day: red snapper topped with chimichurri, served with cilantro-lime rice and vegetables. It was absolutely delicious and a perfect portion. Service was prompt and friendly. Our server provided great recommendations for food and drinks and made sure our water glasses were always filled.

Yelp
If you are staying at the Marriott or somewhere local, it is a must! 5 minute walk along the front tropical path to this casual, family friend spot. If you are looking for a place to take a beach family photo, this is your spot, lots of amazing options. The food, best around this area that we have been to...everything from beer battered onion rings to the pineapple fried rice substituted with shrimp to the rack of ribs and the LLBC burger, all were at hit! The wait staff was friendly, knowledgeable, working hard to service a lot of people. The downfall, they don't take reservations, we were quoted 1 hour and 45 minute wait and it was that. Good thing we knew this so we put our name in and went back to the Marriott to wait... good news is, if u can't go back to a hotel nearby, the restaurant has a wonderful set up of family friendly games for everyone: ping pong, corn hole, connect four and more. Just note you will pay in the pocket, there is a beach front price to visit this location. But something I would recommend you plan to visit! It

Yelp
Visit Lava Lava for the ambiance and location. Food was okay, not bad, but nothing special. The meals looked great, but lacked amazing flavors. Our service was great and can't beat eating dinner on the beach! I wasn't impressed with the fried rice or nachos. Presentation was great and food came out quickly. We arrived just before 5pm and were seating immediately, after we arrived we noticed the restuatnt quickly filled out. They have a nice waiting space. - Walking distance from the Marriott Waikoloa - Good service - Expensive, you're paying for location - Family friendly - Location! - No reservations

Yelp
Absolutely loved lava lava! We were on our honeymoon and went there 2x in one week since we wanted to try more on the menu. The beach front views and decorations really bring it all home. The drinks are very good and worth trying. The staff are very quick & friendly. It is a must on my list!

Yelp
Lava Lava Beach Club is a great place to enjoy a drink on the beach at sunset. This establishment has a prime location for a relaxed vibe and great beach local. It's located on the Kohala Coast in the Waikoloa Beach Resort area. Consequently, it comes with a steep Beach Resort price tag. The service is perfect and great for photo ops.
google avatar

Cameron B.

Yelp
Amazing service great food I really do recommend it, if you go to this place it is so good you will always want to come here.
google avatar

Kim K.

Yelp
Location is about all that lava lava has going for it. It is right on the beach with a beautiful view and validated parking. The service was spotty - we only got one round of drinks, mainly because our server never came back after we first got sat down and ordered. The food left a lot to be desired - the fish and chips immediately fell out of the breading, so we just ate the fish with a fork out of the breading. The fries tasted stale. The pineapple fried rice was fine but not worth the price tag. It had random very large chunks of scrambled egg. Overall this felt like a tourist trap in both price and food quality. I would maybe get a happy hour cocktail for the view and skip the food next time.
google avatar

Yelp
What an amazing place to chill in the beach. Delicious sizzling shrimp. Service was friendly
google avatar

Joy W.

Yelp
Food 3 Service 3.5 Ambience 4.5 Thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor dining, great company, live music and watching as the sun set. We ordered: Fritto Misto (fried calamari, shrimp and artichoke) Arugula salad Pineapple fried rice with a chicken addition. Hamburger The food is average, however we came for the view. The table service was lacking and we wondered if it is because we do not drink alcohol and the total bill would be less and result in a smaller tip. We had asked for a few extra spoons for sharing the food family style. After a second request we received two of the three spoons needed. Our server never returned again to clear the completed plates, but that might just be the restaurant practice. All in all we enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant.

Yelp
We stumbled across this place while walking along the beach yesterday. At first, we weren't sure if it was open to the public - the word "club" threw us off. Lucky for us, it was. We had two adults and two kids and just wanted to share an appetizer and get a couple drinks. We weren't permitted to sit on the beach like we asked to (apparently because we weren't ordering off the entree menu), despite several tables being open and available the entire time we were there. They ended up seating us at a high top table at the bar, which was sub-optimal with little kids, but it was the only way we were going to get served so it was that or nothing. We ended up ordering the appetizer platter which for $35 gave us a healthy serving of ahi poke, seared ahi nachos, and fish and shrimp ceviche. It came with a very small amount of different types of chips. I wasn't quite sure why it came with so few chips, as it was clearly intended to be eaten with some, so we ended up ordering a side of tortilla chips as well, which weren't as nice as the original chips. The nachos were my favorite, then the ceviche, then the poke. My husband liked the poke better than the ceviche. The nachos had a sweet chili sauce on them and they were absolutely delicious. We each ordered the "Lava Lava on the Rocks" drink which was tasty enough and not watered down, which I appreciated. The menu is a QR card on the table which I always find a little bit annoying. Oddly, it doesn't take you to a kids menu, so the server rattled off that they have a cheeseburger, a quesadilla, and chicken tenders. No other description. My son decided to get the chicken tenders, and for $15, we were quite impressed with the serving size. It was easily an adult serving and shareable. The prices here initially felt high, but when we received our food, it was justifiable because everything was high-quality and tasted great. I just wish that since we spent $90 bucks in a half empty restaurant, we could've at least been seated with the other patrons and where we could watch our kids play in the sand and make sure they were safe. Nick was our server and he did a good job checking on us. Had we been allowed to sit at a normal table on the beach instead of high chairs in the corner when we asked, and had we been given a normal amount of chips for the serving size of fish we received, I would have considered bumping this up to a 5. As it stands, there's still a little room for improvement. You won't be disappointed with the food, but be prepared for some sticker shock in comparison to similar places on the island. An appy alone will set you back $25. Cheers!

Yelp
Stick to ordering the fish as it's always fresh. Dining is done on the sandy beach if requested. Yet wait times can vary, so grab drink and relax

Mary S.

Yelp
Imagine this: you are steps from a beautiful beach, soaking up the sun -or shaded by a large umbrella -with your favorite tropical drink in hand, while being served amazing food. You can turn this fantasy into reality at the Lava Lava Beach club. Food is mouth-watering good- I'm salivating just thinking about the burgers but they also offer yummy salads. Lava Lava is part of the restaurant chain that also includes Kai's, Huggo's and Huggo's on the Beach, all of which are in Kona proper. What they have in common with Lava Lava are epic views, tasty food and excellent service. Lava Lava is worth the drive to the end of the road. Parking is adjacent to the restaurant or you can park in the unpaved lot that is just steps away. Lava Lava does have limited hours and it doesn't take reservations, so be prepared to wait- or go early. If you do have to wait, there are some fun outdoor games built into the outdoor waiting area.

Yelp
Amazing vibes, great setting with live music, lights and beach in the backdrop means all roads lead to nothing but a phenomenal dinner experience. To top that, some real good top quality top notch ( yeah all of those and it's not a typo) food made us go there for a dinner and followed by the next day with an equally amazing lunch. For our first visit we went in for dinner. Jonah was our host for the evening and did walk us through the options , answered questions around the popular items and as well have his recommendations. We ended up ordering the Sashimi Special, out-standing Ahi, coconut Shrimp and an amazing Key Lime Pie with coffee to round it up. Pretty happy with all the food items, Jonah checking with us and making sure we had everything we asked for and if there was anything he could take care of for us. Loved the vibe, amazing food and wonderful host in Jo After a dip in the neighboring beach, we stopped by at Lava Lava for their lunch menu and Stephanie was a phenomenal host ( Big Shoutout to Stephanie for being an amazing host and answering all our questions, helping us with those recos and showing some amazing Hawaiin hospitality ) who helped us decide on ordering the Fish Tacos ( mahi mahi) , 3 Greens and A Grain salad, Ahi poke that came with sweet potato chips. Topped that all with a Key Lime Pie and a freshly made coffee ( she let us know that she was preparing a fresh batch and that it would take a bit) and that was one amazing meal to remember. If you are around in the Waikoloa area or even if you have to drive down to make it here, Lava Lava should definitely be on your list atleast for 1 lunch and a dinner visit. You are welcome!!!

Yelp
We really wanted to like this place. It's walking distance from our hotel and the views and ambiance are amazing. The service was also attentive and friendly. But the food....its just not good. For the price, you're paying for everything but the food. The sizzling shrimp appetizer was passable but nothing to write home about; the garlic bread that came with it was gross, hard and stale. The tuna appetizer was fine. The pineapple was the worst we've ever had. It wasn't really fried rice, more like salty rice mixed together with some edamame and carrots, stuffed into a pineapple. It was dry and has no spices. It's not a pineapple fried rice at all. Just incredibly infuriating how it tasted. The restaurant has a lot going for it: location, ambiance and staff. But for the prices here, you'd expect reasonable food....this is not it.
google avatar

Yelp
Know in advance you are going to spend a lot of money. The view here is what you are mostly paying for and it is worth it. This place is right on the ocean - some tables are even in the sand. Get there for happy hour and you can save $5 on Mai Tai's. I'd recommend the Coco Mai Tai which has coconut. The staff is friendly and fairly attentive. There is an area while you wait to play bags, ping pong, large connect four, and large jenga. Good for kids to play while the adults eat. We had several different meals that I posted with this review. I didn't post the chicken tenders, but very large portion. Everything was a good sized portion. Everything was pretty good, but flavor could have had more punch. The Farm to Beach probably had the most flavor. The dessert was also great. The Kona Coffee cheesecake was great, but not a ton of coffee flavor. Overall the ambiance is what makes this place. Right around 5:30 gets really busy. Head there early, grab happy hour, and an early dinner to skip the crowd. Sunset is beautiful.

Yelp
Where do I start... please, for the love of all things Aloha, try the Gillian's Gal Cocktail. The food is pretty good for a quick snack. After you have had your couple Gillian's Gals, because it is hard just to have one, trust me. Walk out to the water, where you are bound to see a few turtles hanging out eating off the rocks. What a neat experience!

Yelp
Very cool atmosphere, beach front "beach Club" restaurant and bar. They do live music every day that is super fun and the service is very friendly. This is an amazing spot to get food, appetizers, drinks whatever and hangout for the afternoon / evening watching music and having cocktails and snacks while taking little dips in the ocean. Alamon was the guitar player and he was so much fun!!

Yelp
We arrived in a Sunday evening around 5pm in a memorial weekend and the place is already packed. We were seated immediately and got the best seat in the house (not on the sand, but the very edge next to the entertainment area). We got unobstructed view of the sea, the sunset, and the hula dance. The seafood are super fresh. Servers are super friendly and elaborate in describing food & drink menus. This place is expensive thoguh. Good place for ambiance, but food wise it's not more superior than others.

Yelp
Fun, family friendly, beachfront with live music. It's super crowded so be prepared for a long wait. Service can be spotty, our waiter was just laid back and not in a hurry but they might have a staffing problem?

Yelp
We were staying in Waikoloa Village and Lava Lava was an easy to find place on all the maps. It was our first night on vacation and this was easy to go to without a reservation on a Saturday night. We immediately got a table on the sand and were excited to take in the sunset views. I started with a Skinny Dipper cocktail, which was delicious! My husband ordered the mellow waves beer and really liked that. We opted for the pineapple fried rice bowl with shrimp and the seared sesame crusted ahi for dinner. Both were so good! We ended up sharing because we couldn't decide which one we liked more. Noah was our server and he was awesome- super attentive to our table. It's a beautiful setting. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Location is stunning. We had to wait 45 minutes but enjoyed the beach during the wait. Food was good and wait staff was very kind.

Yelp
Had Mother's Day dinner here. Food was really good but the view was even better, and the cats. So many stray cats, it was very entertaining. We also hung out in the grass area after and played some lawn games they have. Overall good time

Yelp
Very nice place. Amazing view of the beach. Service was great. Food is a little pricey, but you're paying for the scenery if you go at sunset. The drinks were very good. Wish I could remember what I ordered. It wasn't light on the liquor I will say :-). We ordered the Ceviche, which was superb. Very light and flavorful. Also got the Pineapple fried rice with shrimp added. This was recommended from a tour guide so we had to try. I must say it was good but not worth $32. Not as much flavor as I would've wanted. The Teriyaki Steak was cooked to perfection, medium rare. Very flavorful. Mixed vegetables was also very good. Overall we would go back to try something new and to see the beautiful sunset

Yelp
Great time... no wait and we had appetizers! It is December so the sunset was a bit hidden but plenty of people took pictures!

Yelp
Came here twice to catch the sunset during our stay on The Big Island and enjoyed both visits. Can't beat the evening ambiance - gorgeous views with live music and overall pleasant beach vibe. Service was pleasant and pretty attentive for the level of busy-ness. Our first visit was for dinner and drinks; started with ceviche (good, but could make it cheaper and just as good ourselves), lava lava flow on the rocks & bartenders daily cocktail special. Home run on the drinks. For entrees we had the macnut crusted fresh catch (mahi mahi) and the seared sesame tuna. Both were delicious but very very expensive. Ended with another round of bevvies, this time a classic Mai tai and a DIPA - also wins. Our second visit was for dessert and a night cap. For drinks, coconut Mai tai & skinny dipper. Delectable as always. Dessert choices were big island lime pie (fantastic!) and Haupia Cake "Broke Da Mouth", which was very good but not our favorite. Overall, if you're looking for a place to catch the sunset with tasty cocktails, give Lava Lava a try and if you don't mind spending lots of $$, stay for dinner. Ono!

Yelp
I visited and ate for the first time in a long time, but the taste and quality of the food were much better than before, so I was able to enjoy the meal. I only did takeout before, but I didn't visit because I didn't like it that much, but now I'm glad there's a change.

Yelp
Food was pretty good. Great venue. Fish and chips good. Fish dinner overcooked. Salad huge

Yelp
You're here for the views and the vibe. The food is forgettable except for the price - cold fries, meh poke nachos, wildly expensive. Service is friendly enough, and the live music is a nice touch. I'd recommending coming for a drink and an app at sunset, stroll along A-bay for moonrise, and then head off for a decent meal elsewhere. No reservations so get here early.

Yelp
Food was delish! Service was great! Ambiance was a 10/10! Arrived at 6pm on a Friday and was seated by 6:30pm with incredible views of the sunset. Yelp
Beware! The food portions are small and expensive.. drinks sweet and expensive also mostly ice ! Fish ahi was good! The coconut cake would be the only thing I would come back for and the music/ view

Yelp
Love it!! Love the beachside ambience, the extraordinary views, the tropical drinks, the music, even the service. And that sunset! The food is fine, about 4-stars for a resort, if a little overpriced. Simply can't wait to go back on our next Big Island vacation. It's a terrific place to hangout on a lazy, sunny afternoon in Hawaii.

Yelp
A gorgeous setting for a meal. My son enjoyed playing in the sand while we ate as well as the lawn games by the entrance. We ate here for lunch and we got a great spot with no wait. I saw turtles peeking their heads out of the water, so I even decided to go snorkel off the beach after lunch and got to see two sea turtles up close. The food is a little pricey and I think I prefer the menu at Huggo's on the Rocks (same owners) but it's definitely worth a visit. They label the vegetarian and gluten free options, which is great. I had the fried rice with tofu and it was presented in a fun half pineapple. Definitely worth a visit!

Yelp
The ambiance, the setting. I think it was a pretty magical night in Hawaii The entertainer (if business sees this please tag him) he should be recognized and people should know about his talents. The food... yum! The drinks... delicious! The views... breathtaking! The hostess and everyone there, amazing and nice. Loved it all. My favorite night of the stay

Yelp
Amazing ambiance on the beach, great service and live music. Coconut shrimp and cheeseburger were very good. Kids meals are very generous. We came back a couple of times and tried the steak and the fish of the day. All very good. You combine the great service and it's definitely a great spot for the family. They have a very interesting "lounge" area with a fire pit, corn hole and ping pong table.
